Six-pointers, relegation battles, promotion celebrations and title clinchers – you want it, we got it.
We’ve just seen the top two in the Premier League go head-to-head in a heated back-and-forth battle for first place. This weekend, all three of the lower leagues showcase top-of-the-table clashes and there is a lot still to be decided across the BFFA.
Plus, one of the fixtures below will be Game #7000 in the BFFA. 😃

Premier League
IML Qualifying Round:
Boss
This is what we watch for, isn’t it ladies and gents. The top two in the top league going head-to-head in a double gameweek near the end of the season, and coming away from it not knowing who’s going to take the most prestigious league title in fantasy football.
In fact, not only is the title undecided, but it will go to the final game, and that was because MFF turned the game around from being 40-28 down, to winning 56-49. Previously in the season, Barons had won both of the last two league meetings, but MFF had knocked Barons out of the Cup. Now MFF are top of the Premier League and in the Cup Final.
To make it even better for MFF, Sporting Wicker Park saw their six-game winning streak arrested by fourth-placed Smash & Grab who are looking for the money places and Champions League qualification. That win was a big six-pointer for the teams around third. Smash & Grab, and now We have Kompany, are closing in on third as time runs out. And keep an eye on Wijnaldum Leviosa who are safe from relegation and still have a shot at fourth place.
Barons go into the penultimate gameweek facing tough midtable opponents, Wijnaldum Leviosa who have just survived their first Premier League season and who have beaten them the last two times that they’ve met. Meanwhile, MFF have a tougher game against Smash & Grab in another season-defining weekend.
SWP may have thought they’d have an easier time against seventh-place, but if you look at this week’s scores, you’ll see that Boss have the capability of tripling their opponent’s scores and are not to be underestimated. Keep an eye on what they do this weekend, and then watchout for a potential playoff shootout between 7th & 8th.
Championship
Promoted: Housewives Favourite
Qualified for Champions League:
Gloopy Yarbles, Housewives Favourite, Hung Like a Bony & The El Dude Brothers
IML Qualifying Round:
GoFYS FC, Webuiltthis City
With the highest score of the season (so far), supersub Martin Ødegaard and co. send Housewives Favourite to the brink of their FOURTH CONSECUTIVE title. Last night they clinched promotion to the Premier League with a massive 54-point victory and are now just one point away from going up as Champions.
That win for Wives Fave was huge not only for their position in the league, but also increased their lead at the top of the Best-ish Rankings. It was 18 fantasy points more than their closest challengers, who happen to be the Championships’ number two team, The El Dude Bros. And guess who they play next…! Bros also won this week and keep pace with the league leaders, but time has nearly run out on their title chase. They need six points (and a big turnover on fantasy points) to reclaim the top spot. But it’s not impossible, and it starts tomorrow.
All of the top four won this week, meaning that the league order remains the same. Hung Like a Bony can no longer reach third place, nor drop any lower, so can now shape their team ready for the new Runners-Up Trophy, the warm-up to the Champions League. Hung LaB’s win meant that StillluvQPR’s bid to escape the play-off place was put on hold for another week and increases the chances of another dramatic Sowinski Derby to come in GW36.
Gloopy Yarbles beat GoFYS for the third time this season, meaning that the former can still fight for second, and the latter still has to defend seventh. With two very important gameweeks to go, they could find themselves playing each other in the Championship next season, or they could exit the league going in opposite directions. Watch this space.
The Housewives party could be scuppered this weekend as the only team that can catch them – The El Dude Bros – will stand up to the Favourites for a sixth and final time this season. Nine gameweeks ago, Bros beat their perennial rivals 44-40. Prior to that Bros had won 33-28 in GW8, and twice in the Champions League Group Stage. A fifth win would take the title race to the final day. A loss however…
If Bros lose this weekend then Gloopy could pull level and possibly steal the second automatic promotion place. Next they play fourth-placed Hung Like a Bony and could be about to set up a very tasty final day shootout against Bros. In the mid-table, Hung, ASG and Web City have nothing to play for until the postseason, but their games this weekend can have a big impact on promotion and relegation in the Championship. And in the bottom four, three teams can escape relegation if results go their way. Chicken and Bane San unfortunately will be saying goodbye to the Championship in a fortnights’ time.
League One
Promoted: AFC Chester
IML Qualifying Round:
Peltier
It was a third-from-three for AFC Chester over Peltier and it beckons an immediate return to the Championship. What’s more, is they opened up a four-point cushion and could become the Champions next week if they win against…Atletico Topo Chico.
The biggest score in League One gave third-placed Klopps and Robbers a valuable three points and increased their hopes of promotion. And it did this by directly holding back ATC. ATC’s third loss in a row heavily stunted their push for the lofty heights of the Championship, but they’re still in a good position to push on.
The midtable teams continue to scrabble for position. BattleVAR and Fergi Time both won, and East Loop lost to Jaysokker. Ninth-placed Jaysokker could climb up out of the relegation zone, as could Sugar Daddies in the final two games. Nothing is set here in League One, but Gameweek 35 could will provide some answers.
GW35 is a BIG weekend in the third tier. We will see the top two go head-to-head again. If Chester win, they’re crowned Champions. If ATC win, they will find themselves one point behind with a game against 10th place in the final week. Not only that, but…
AFC Chester and Atletico Topo Chico will be the BFFA’s 7000th Game! Look out for a little write up on how League One’s powerhouses showcase the league next week.
Full drama in the rest of the League too. The midtable teams are playing for the playoff spot. They will be playing the bottom three teams and, although they are resigned to seventh, Peltier are in prime position to take a spot in the Champions League qualifiers this postseason. Keep an eye on the Best-ish Table next Monday and the race for CLQ.
League Two
Champions: Real Bastardos
Qualified for Champions League:
Real Bastardos, Whiskey de Bruyne
IML Qualifying Round:
Conte’s Cockerels, Goleta Hotspur, Orewa Ostriches
Congratulations to the first declared League Champions: Real Bastardos.
It wasn’t the fireworks that we’ve seen over the last seven weeks from RB Monty, but the team that have held a firm grasp over the Number One spot since Gameweek 17 are now, seventeen gameweeks later, officially Champions in their debut season. They will be enjoying League One football next season, Champions League fantasy football next season, and competing in the Champion of Champions tournament in two weeks’ time.
Below them, it was the (for want of a better name) De Bruyne Derby, as second and third fought for the place. The lower team won and kept alive the possibility of taking that second automatic promotion. And one step below them, CG XI racked up an almighty 89 FPts to make sure they stay within reach of third and a potential playoff place.
So, once again this weekend will see another first -v- second show down and, although first place is no longer on the table, second place is still vulnerable. To that end, Goleta Hotspur stand between DBT and them closing the gap and given that G.Spurs are 0-3 against the rookies this season, then second place really could be decided in the final gameweek. We will see…

The BFFA Cup Final:
Mighty Fine Feeling vs. All Star Gunners
The Post Season
The End of Season is nearly here…!
Just TWO games left, and a Cup Final!
We are so close to finding out who has won what, who is getting promoted and who will be in the postseason qualifiers!
Here’s what to watch for as we approach the Post Season:
The Playoffs!
The highlight of the post-season: our inaugural Promotion Play-offs.
At the end of the season – GW36 – the top two teams from the lower divisions will be promoted and the bottom two will be relegated. In previous seasons it was a straight three-up, three-down, but this year we are introducing Pro/Rel Play-Offs, giving the teams in eighth the opportunity to fight for their place. Third-placed teams, who should be much stronger and better prepared, no longer get an automatic promotion, but instead have to play two legs against a weaker team to get themselves over that line.
#1) 8th, Premier League vs. 3rd, Championship: Winner gets a Premier League place in Season 10.
#2) 8th, Championship vs. 3rd, League One: Winner gets a Championship place in Season 10.
#3) 8th, League One vs. 3rd, League Two: Winner gets a League One place in Season 10.
Two Legs, GW37 & GW38.
And here’s how the Post-Season affects everybody:
#1) Champion of Champions
The teams at the top of each league at the end of Gameweek 36 will win the title and the prizes attached to it. But there will be some discussion as to which of the four was the best team of the season, so in the final two gameweeks the four League Champions will playoff for another $50 and the title of Champion of Champions!
Three games, knockout style.
Ties broken by goals scored, assists, least reds, least yellows, Bonus Points then BPS.
GW37: | ⚽ Highest-scoring Champion vs. Lowest-scoring Champion ⚽ Champion #2 vs. Champion #3 |
GW38: | ⚽ Winner vs. Winner |
The outright winner will also be set-up to play in the just-for-fun Dare Holdren Community Shield against the BFFA Cup Winners in Gameweek 1 next season.
#2) The Runners-Up Trophy
All the teams finishing 2nd and 3rd will qualify for the 2023 Champions League next season, as will the current Champions League Champions – Gloopy Yarbles – and the BFFA Cup Winners (to be decided).
(If the CL Winners and/or the BFFA Cup winners finish the season in the top three, then the fourth-placed team in that League will also get an automatic Champions League placement and be entered into the Runners-Up Trophy.)
These ten teams will play in a post-season mini-tournament – Two weeks, the most accumulated points wins an additional $30. (Prize is split if tied).
#3) The Champions League Qualifiers
The 2023 Champions League will again be contested by 16 teams. In the First Round, these teams are split into four groups of four (again with one League Champion in each group).
The first fourteen teams into the Group Stage will be:
• The top three teams from each league this season,
• The Champions League Winners
(or the 4th-placed team in their league, if they finish in the top three),
• The BFFA Cup Winners
(or the 4th-placed team in their league, if they finish in the top three).
The final two places will be decided by the postseason’s CL Qualifiers.
Starting this season we will invite four teams to play two matches during the Post-Season, and the two winners from those games will earn a place in the CL Draw in August. Initially, those four teams will be the 4x 4th-placed teams at the end of the season, but as some will qualify for the Champions League via other means, those slots will open up.
We know now that the top four in the Championship will automatically qualify for the Champions League (three league places plus Gloopy as CL holders) so as it stands All Star Gunners would get a play-off match as the next-best unqualified teams in the BFFA.
Similarly, if the BFFA Cup winners finish in the top four, then a second reserve will get a shot at Champions League qualification too. This means that the high-scoring teams will want to keep an eye on the Best-ish table every week as teams fall out of the top three and the double gameweeks shake up the rankings.
#4) The Intramural League Qualifiers
If you don’t make the Champions League places or the Qualifiers then you could qualify for next season’s Intramural League.
Each League will send one representative to the IML in September.
In GW37, ⚽ 5th will play 8th & ⚽ 6th plays 7th.
⚽ The winners of each game will playoff in GW38 for qualification.
Less than four teams? Then the top team(s) get a first-week bye. Lovely.
We have six teams already signed up for the post-season quallies:
In the Premier League: Boss
Championship: GoFYS, Webuiltthis City
League One: Peltier (unless they are called up to the CLQ)
League Two: Conte’s Cockerels, Goleta Hotspur, Orewa Ostriches
#5) The Wooden Spoon
The bottom two from each league will unfortunately miss out on the IML Qualifiers and instead have their own little tournament to play in. The aim is simply to avoid being the season’s worst team. No-one wants that. If you finish ninth or tenth in your league then you will no doubt already be under pressure to keep your job as a head coach! Pass this test and you could be off the hook.
Eight teams – the worst two scores in Gameweek 37 will be set up in a final week showdown ⚽ Win there and save your blushes. Lose that and you’ll be made to remember it (but be thankful that we didn’t set any forfeits this year!)
The first Wooden Spoon tourney will feature:
Cedar Creek, Chicken and Bane San., R.O.K. FC and Vanishing Spray
As It Stands…
So we have: 1x Champion, +2 promoted teams, 2x relegated teams, 7x Champions League-bound clubs, 7x in the IML Qualifiers and lots of teams hovering around third and fourth.
Right now, its a question of who wants it the most.
Good luck!
