Season 9 – The Season Begins

The results are in!

We are back and there were some fantastic scores already.
This season I’m opening with two exhibition matches to get the page going.

The Super Cup

Later this week UEFA Champions League Winners Real Madrid will play UEFA Europa League Winners Eintracht Frankfurt for the first time in 62 years. The last match was the 1960 European Cup Final, Real Madrid won 7-3.
This week the BFFA Champions League Winners Mighty Fine Feeling and the BFFA IntraMural League Winners We have Kompany meet for the first time in 122 days. The last time they met, WhK (then Drafty) won 48-30. This week the two inter-league champions played out a much closer game, and Mighty Fine Feeling came out on top, winning 44 – 38. The new Champions League kicks off in two weeks and both teams will be expected to go far.

The Dare Holdren Shield

The Community Shield pits the Premier League Champions against the FA Cup winners every year. This season, Liverpool beat Man City 3-1 with goals from Trent, Salah and new signing Nunez.
Here, we emulate the 114-year-old competition with our own Champion v Champion season-opener exhibition match. BFFA Premier League Champions Route 57 were set up against BFFA Cup Winners The El Dude Bros in their first ever meeting. The PL team faltered in their first week of the season, putting up only 24 matchpoints, while The El Dude Bros enjoyed league success over ASG and won the inaurgural BFFA Community Shield with a 46-24 victory.

Premier League

Two-time Championship Champions Boss pick up the biggest score of the round. Tonight they are sharing the prize money places with two former Premier League Champions, both of whom doubled their opponents scores in the season opener.

Championship

Despite starting from 10th in the Draft, Hung lead the way up the road to the Premier League after a high-scoring game against GoFys. Web City pick up second place; top two play next week.

League One

Somehow, all three of the teams automatically promoted from L2 last season scored 49 matchpoints in GW1. ATC & Fergi Time earned wins with their hauls; Peltier were knocked back by the best score in L1 – a 57 from United. ELU top the League, followed closely by Klopps & Robbers thanks to their 53FPts against newly-promoted Sugar Daddies. Next week, ELU play joint-third Fergi Time.

League Two

Two draws at the very start of the season give League Two a very interesting start. Conte’s Cockerels claim top spot in Week One, just like their Premier League counterparts, closely followed by the another Hotspurs – Harambe start the season in second.
