Two more teams have been crowned League Champions and the Championship has a new leader yet again. Beyond the number ones, the money places are still under intense and sustained pressure. Positions will be exchanged over the next two weeks, some teams will get lucky and, as always, some teams have to be relegated…

Premier League
Champions: Route 57 FC
Relegated: All Star Gunners
Relegated: FC Santa Barbara
Relegated: GoFYS FC
Route 57 claim second consecutive title. Drafty move to the top of the Best-ish rankings.
Eddie Nketiah, hero of Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Chelsea, shone again for Route 57 against recently-relegated All Star Gunners with two poacher’s goals in the first ten minutes of play on Sunday against struggling Leeds United. He was assisted by Gabriel Martinelli for the second goal and their 22 combined points lead R57 to an unassailable lead at the top of the stack.
We heard this week that we would be losing former Premier League Champions SB Town in the summer, hopefully not permanently. Coincidentally, Dare Holdren and Pep Guardiola both managed their 350th games for their respective clubs this week. Unfortunately, City had a lot more success than the Baggers, who found themselves up against Top-Three-chasing Smash & Grab, one of three sides to hit 100+ this week. Unsurprisingly, Kevin de Bruyne spearheaded the onslaught, finally ending up with an enormous haul of 30 FPts! He was joined in the midfield attack by Mason Mount, who only played one of Chelsea’s two games, and were backed up by Cancelo (14FPts) also from City’s successful week plus Mykolenko (14) and Pickford (12) profitting from Everton’s win over Leicester and keeping Watford from scoring.
Another team of centurions were, perhaps surprisingly, GoFYS FC. They took a first-win-in-three against Vanishing Spray, effectively ending their season. Raheem Sterling also returned handsomely from two games in which Man City successfully put ten shots away; Sterling got three of them and five bonus points, adding up to a giant 28 FPts. GoFYS also enjoyed big numbers from Ings (10), Zaha (11), Reece James (13) and Benrahma (16), not to mention the fifteen points left on the bench under Pontus Jansson’s name. Spray have two games left this season and are on 148 all-time League wins, so they could give their fans a milestone to celebrate at the end of the season, but any hopes of reaching the top four faded away this week.
And in other BIG news, Drafty have taken control of the Best-ish table, outscoring League One’s Housewives Favourite and regaining the top of the leaderboard, a position that Wives Fave have held for the last 16 weeks (just like Bryan Adams did!). In a very good week for the Brits, Drafty’s win over rivals Money and MFF’s loss to FCSB means that Drafty have a four-point cushion back to the bronze medal position and a near-impassible lead over fifth, nigh on placing them in the Champions League draw.

Championship
Promoted: Boss
Promoted: Sporting Wicker Park
Promoted: Wijnaldum Leviosa
Relegated: AFC Chester
Relegated: AC Reykjavik
Sterling capitalises in double gameweek, help SWP climb back to the top; and it’s milestones galore for the Championship sides.
Not only did Raheem Sterling pocket a massive 28 FPts in the double gameweek (3 goals, 1 assist, 5BP), but Lukaku and Mount both found the net for SWP (4 goals, 1 assist & 5BP together) and reclaimed the top spot for the first time since GW23. Wicker Park have now passed the 15k all-time points milestone (including 12,500 in the league alone), but have a fantasy points differential of just eight over nearest rivals Boss.
For Boss this was game number 250, but it wasn’t a happy occasion. Despite fine performances for Pickford and Mykolenko at the back, they were no match this week for the AFC Chester assist machine. They collected eight assists across the gameweek (including both assists from the 1-1 between Liverpool & Tottenham) which contributed heavily to Boss’ drop to second place, but it wasn’t enough to save AFC Chester from being condemned to League One.
Chester’s sentence was signed, perhaps ironically, by a StillluvQPR win. In their 99th League win, Stillluv registered the highest score in the Championship this week with four players making double figures – Ings (10), Bowen (13) Trossard (17) and the ever-productive Son (20); 4 goals, 6 assists, 9BP between them. It was also their first three points against Gloopy Yarbles in five attempts, a run that goes back to a 35-33 win in 2019.
Gloopy remain in fourth despite the loss as Barons (with Matip (11), Zaha (11) & Kane (15)) lost by just three to Wijnaldum Leviosa, who saw double-figures from de Bruyne (30) and Luiz Diaz (15). Obviously, KdB’s four-bagger away at Wolves was the decider in the match, but Barons will be rueing the (usually sensible) decisions to bench the inconsistant Benrahma (16), defender Cucurella facing Man United (12) and Daka who hadn’t scored since January (9).
The result of the above sets up some very interesting scenarios in the second tier. Chiefly, the race for the title will probably go to the wire (and as I write this, part-way through GW37, it certainly looks that way). Secondly, the fight for third place isn’t over. A six-point swing in favour of either Gloopy or Barons over Wijnaldum could, with enough matchpoints grant one of them a shock rise into the money places. But not both however, as fourth plays fifth in the last game of the season, and so Wijnaldum are guaranteed a top four finish. Two weeks ago, that was just enough for a Champions League place next season, but in light of recent events, it is so much more than that.
Even though there remains just the three payouts for the promoted sides (Simon, watch your back!), there will now also be a fourth team elevated to the dizzy heights of the Premier League. After the announcement that the SB Town United Athletic Onion Baggers will be taking an indefinite leave of absence, two teams will be going up with Sporting Wicker Park & Boss, and Wijnaldum Leviosa will undoubtedly be one of them.
That means that there is one more place to be scrapped over, and it will be fought between the other three teams that were promoted from League One last season – Gloopy Yarbles, Barons FC (previously Relic FC) and, after a fourth consecutive win, Webuiltthis City. A brace from Jamie Vardy on his full return after injury, and three bonus points for the achievement, ensured that City took three points from relegated AC Reykjavik and transformed their season from a relegation scare into a Premier League dream.

The El Dude Brothers record biggest score of the season and set up a massive game against C&BS.
In the BFFA Cup last year, The El Dude Brothers were knocked out by BattleVAR Galatico in the Third Round. The next time they met, Bros put up the biggest score in the league and thrashed B-VAR 82-24. This week, they threw together the biggest score of all forty all season, their biggest-ever score, and won a very important three points. With that 108, they moved up one position and kept pace with second & third who also won this week. Meanwhile BattleVAR, who look safe in seventh, will have to wait at least one more week to have that comfirmed.
Chicken & Bane, who now have nearly 500 FPts less than Bros, hold on to second place with a strong 84-42 win, their third-in-a-row against Ole’s at the Wheel but their first win in three weeks as the season draws to a close. C&BS have seen more than their fair share of disappointing results over the eight seasons with the BFFA, but are now just a win away from promotion back to the Championship! Next up they have a very difficult fixture against The EDB with both teams in very good form.
The most in-form team in L1 are probably Hung Like a Bony, having won their last three games, but they face the Champions Wives’ Fave next. The last game they lost was to C&BS in GW33; the league could have looked rather different had they won that one. Ole’s at the Wheel have stuttered recently but are still very much in the race, despite giving up three points this week, and due to the extra space open in the Premier League there will now be a fourth promotion place available. This means that not only are Ole’s at the Wheel just a point shy of the Championship, but About to get Messi are also still in with a shot of it. Messi, who are also in good form – have won four of the last five, will need to win both of their next two, including a do-or-die game against Ole in this week coming up.
Unfortunately, we have also had news that we will not be enjoying the company of Toronto-based Cornballers and Banana Swans next season. After thirteen combined years with the association, in which they gave us over 500 matches and over 20,000 fantasy points, we say au revoir to the pair, hoping that they will return one day. Thank you very much for your time with us. We wish you and your family much happiness and success. All the best!

Champions: Atletico Topo Chico

Promoted: Peltier
Son sinks Arsenal and ATC win Title…
It may not have been the most spectacular way to clinch a title, but with a far-above average score Atletico Topo Chico have taken the title at the second attempt and will be a seeded team in next year’s Champions League draw. What was spectacular though was Pickford’s heroics against Leicester, Son and Diaz both scoring in the same game, Reece James’ stand out performance away at Leeds and Antonio’s cheeky opportunist goal against Norwich.
In order for ATC to become champions this week, before they face second-placed Peltier in the next game, it also meant that Peltier’s 10-game winning streak had to come to an end, and it took three substitutions from The Globes’ bench to make that happen. Kane (15) was amongst the players coming on and his two goals overshadowed a fine effort from Foster (14) in goal for Peltier. For The Globes, that score put them over 10,000 league fantasy points and was their 103rd league win. For Peltier, in means that second place still needs defending.
In third place, guaranteed promotion but too far back to challenge for the lead, Fergi Time took to the field against fourth placed Cumberland FC. With de Bruyne starting in midfield and Guehi coming off the bench to replace the injured Ben White, one might have thought that FT would have strolled to a comfortable third win over Cumberland but it was not to be. Big scores for Benrahma, Buendia and Trossard, which included a haul of nine bonus points, earned Cumberland a third-win-in-four and a controlling grasp on that fourth place. That place this week became all the more important of course as League Two will now be sending (at least) four teams upwards. Three points behind them and with a superior FPts total, Cup finalists Jaysokker are breathing down their neck and keen to step over them in a bid for promotion. A week after Jaysokker beat the team above them 60-35, how important will that win be at the end of the season?

Champions League Qualification
In August the Champions League will return with this season’s best teams competing for the most prestigious prize in the BFFA.
Qualifying Positions:
Premier League Top 4,
Championship Top 4,
League One Top 3,
League Two Top 3,
Champions League Holders,
BFFA Cup Winners.
The 9/16 teams that have qualified so far:
Atletico Topo Chico, Boss, Fergi Time, Housewives Favourite, Mighty Fine Feeling, Peltier, Route 57 FC, Sporting Wicker Park, Wijnaldum Leviosa
BFFA Cup Winners: The El Dude Brothers -or- Jaysokker
Reserves: Best remaining pointscorers.
So, if Mighty Fine Feeling and/or the BFFA Cup Winners occupy a qualifying league position at the end of the season, the space(s) will be given to the team(s) with the most total matchpoints.
For example, if it were to end today, those honours would go to: The El Dude Brothers (4th in League One, 1762 FPts), and then Barons FC (5th in the Championship, 1559 FPts). If The El Dude Brothers also won the BFFA Cup Final, then the second reserve space would be hotly contested by The Money Team, Ole’s at the Wheel, et al.
Of course, in the remaining gameweeks league positions and the Best-ish standings will likely change, opening those reserve spots to other teams. Watch this space. Also, the BFFA Cup Final will be played in the final gameweek and may also affect the outcome for the teams below.
