Premier League

Qualified for Champions League: Route 57 FC
Relegated: All Star Gunners
Relegated: FC Santa Barbara
Relegated: GoFYS FC

A thrilling game between Mighty Fine Feeling and All Star Gunners ended in a one-point win after Ivan Toney came on for the Champions League Champions on Monday night to give them the win. That appearance alone had quite a significant effect at both ends of the table. For MFF, it means that they moved back up to third place, in control of that prize money, and remain just a point behind second place too. For ASG, the loss means relegation back down to the Championship after three years of top flight football. Despite the best efforts of Danny Welback (2 Assists, 3 Bonus Points) and Ollie Watkins (1 Goal, 3BP) up front, they couldn’t eek out a win that could have kept them in contention.

Both teams were limited to just ten men and both teams had two subs come on at the wrap-up to earn 4FPts for each. And as an added measure of how phenomenally close this game was, James Ward-Prowse was only one BPS point shy of earning a Bonus Point for ASG that would have tied the match at 45-all. He made 31/39 successful passes (according to WhoScored.com) – a rate of 79.49% (just 0.01% short of the next threshold). Just one more successful pass would’ve cost MFF the win and kept ASG in eighth place!

Elsewhere, SB Town Baggers kept Route 57 from declaring themselves Champions for another week, meaning that Drafty and MFF are still able to steal the top spot if results go their way. Surely we couldn’t be seeing a Title Match on the last week of the season?! Both teams would need to win all three of their remaining games and both teams still have to face The Money Team, who are themselves still very much involved in the battle for second. However, a ten-point loss to relegated GoFys this week means that they have dropped off the pace a little and need to capitalise in the two double-gameweeks that are just around the corner. Smash & Grab are also hanging onto the coattails of the three above them but they too suffered a loss this week; they went down 38-30 to Vanishing Spray, meaning that Spray (and SB Town) could still climb up to claim fourth, if everything goes their way.

Championship

Promoted: Boss
Promoted: Sporting Wicker Park

Relegated: AC Reykjavik

The top two in the Championship both lost, which means that they stay where they are, unaffected by the teams below them, albeit Boss are two fantasy points better off than they were last week. Sporting Wicker Park could have had two more fantasy points this week were it not for the yellow cards given to Mount and Ramsay. What’s more SWP – the BFFA’s highest all-time pointscoring side – are now up to 14,998 fantasy points across all competitions from their eight seasons in the league, but will have to wait until Saturday to reach that next milestone.

The big news from the Championship this week was that StillluvQPR, then eighth in the league, thrashed top side Boss with no less than six goals across the weekend, and climbed out of the relegation zone into seventh. A giant 19FPts from Son in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Leicester, in which Son assisted the first goal for Kane and then scored two second-half goals himself, helped Stillluv to beat Boss for the first time in three meetings; the league leaders had won with scores of 74 & 75 against them in the last two games.

Barons won their fourth of four against AFC Chester and Wijnaldum Leviosa performed the same feat against East Loop United. With that and a third win for Gloopy over relegated AC Reykjavik, the middle of the table remains the same – with Wijnaldum holding a 3-point lead & and a good-sized FPts advantage over the other two. ELU spend the transfer period in the relegation zone before the long double gameweek kicks off on Saturday and AFC need a miracle to escape the drop, with them having to face three of the top four in the remainder of the season.

League One

Champions: Housewives Favourite
Relegated: Banana Swans

Goleta came in big this week with the (joint) second-highest score of the week in their bid for freedom. Champions Wives’ Fave would have had to have had a very special week to get a draw or a win there, however, they could only put 24 on the scoreboard as it was. It was a far cry from the 98 they scored against Goleta nine weeks ago. That double dozen was a big blow for their attempt to claim the Best-ish prize for the second year running, but it does mean that we have a competitive two-horse race for the bonus prize!

Hung Like a Bony took revenge on About to get Messi for the 70-54 defeat that they handed to them in GW 26. The three points moves Hung off the bubble and into the promotion places. A bad omen for them though is that this is the sixth time that Hung have been in the top three this season, and it has never lasted more than a week. For Messi, the loss put a big obstacle between themselves and promotion, but hasn’t killed it off completely. On the other hand, Messi are now safe from relegation after the Cornballers lost to BFFA Cup Finalists The El Dude Brothers.

Next week BattleVAR will also look to seal their safe passage to a place in League One next term. They earned an important three points this week against third-placed Ole’s at the Wheel and are now one point from safety. And in the final game of the week, Banana Swans maintained their unbeaten record against Chicken & BS, making it seven wins and a draw across two seasons.

League Two

Promoted: Atletico Topo Chico
Promoted: Fergi Time
Promoted: Peltier

The second-longest current win streak in the BFFA is 3-wins (Drafty and Webuiltthis City). The longest current win streak is Peltier with 10. Ollie Watkins and Dejan Kulusevski combined with a goal, two assists and four bonus points; with Matty Cash’s clean sheet and Saka’s assist, Peltier had Sugar Daddies covered. Their rivals – Atletico Topo Chico and Fergi Time – faced off for the fourth time in a big end-of-season six-pointer and the game went the way of the league leader. The rookies Fergi Time enjoyed Richarlison’s game-winning goal over favourites Chelsea, but just minutes after Everton found the onion bag at Goodison Park, Son (who had already made one assist) netted twice at the THS and stole the show, making 19 points on the day and ensured the ATC kept their six point advantage over Peltier. The top two will play again in GW37, but they have a long week against Average Team and The Globes to get through first.

Champions League Qualification

In August the Champions League will return with this season’s best teams competing for the most prestigious prize in the BFFA.

Qualifying Positions:
Premier League Top 4,
Championship Top 4,
League One Top 3,
League Two Top 3,
Champions League Holders,
BFFA Cup Winners.

The 8/16 teams that have qualified so far:
Atletico Topo Chico, Boss, Fergi Time, Housewives Favourite, Mighty Fine Feeling, Peltier, Route 57 FC, Sporting Wicker Park
BFFA Cup Winners: The El Dude Brothers -or- Jaysokker

Reserves: Best remaining pointscorers.
So, if Mighty Fine Feeling and/or the BFFA Cup Winners occupy a qualifying league position at the end of the season, the space(s) will be given to the team(s) with the most total matchpoints.
For example, if it were to end today, those honours would go to: The El Dude Brothers (5th in League One, 1654 FPts) (unless they win the BFFA Cup), and then Smash & Grab (5th in the Premier League, 1557 FPts). If The El Dude Brothers then won the BFFA Cup Final, then the next reserve space would be hotly contested by Barons FC, Ole’s at the Wheel, et al.

Of course, in the remaining gameweeks league positions and the Best-ish standings will likely change, opening those reserve spots to other teams. Watch this space. Also, the BFFA Cup Final will be played in the final gameweek and may also affect the outcome for the teams below.
