Premier League

Qualified for Champions League: Route 57

A big away win for Route 57 over their nearest rivals puts them on the brink of taking the Premier League title at the first attempt. A solid performance from Southampton at St. Mary’s, days after losing 6-0 there to Chelsea, set the bar too high for MFF early on in the gameweek. A fourth goal of the season for Bednarek, assisted by Elyounoussi ultimately gave R57 the win and earned them a place in next season’s Champions League too.

A second consecutive 60+point score for Drafty lifted them up to third and back in the money while a big score of 66 (including 19 for a Mr. Mo Salah) gave The Money Team an important win in the six-pointer against Smash & Grab. At the other end, a 5-point win for GoFYS moved them off the bottom and severely damaged FC Santa Barbara’s hopes of surviving this season, and SB Town’s 53-47 win against Vanishing Spray means that they are not only (almost) safe from relegation, but also in with a chance of making a run at fourth place too.

Championship

Qualified for Champions League: Boss
Qualified for Champions League: Sporting Wicker Park
Relegated: AC Reykjavik

The fight for the Championship title continues with the top two chalking up the top two scores in the league and with Gloopy’s loss to Webuiltthis City, they are now both guaranteed to be playing Champions League football next season. The real goal though – promotion – is just one game away. Boss play Barons next, nine GW’s after Seamus Coleman’s goal led to a 51-33 win, needing just a draw for promotion to the Premier League; SWP play relegated AC Reykjavik whom they’ve beaten on all three occasions this season, and a win for them would also guarantee them a top-three final spot.

There were no changes in the Championship league table this week, but another loss for managerless AC Rey means that they will be in League One next term and a fourth loss against ELU means that AFC Chester are at a much greater risk of joining them. Wins for both ELU and StillluvQPR means that the pair continue to straddle the red line and Web City remain dangerously close to eighth place too.

League One

Champions: Housewives Favourite

A huge score of 91 for the new League One Champions, in the highest-scoring League One match of the season so far, caused El Dude Bros to slip out of the top three and beneath a resurgent Ole’s at the Wheel. In the week that Man United announced the appointment of Erik ten Hag, O.a.t.Wheel won a close game against Cornballers, their second four-point win against them this season, and rediscovered a place in the top three for the first time since GW19.

Hung Like a Bony lost 46-42 to second-placed Chicken and Bane San and remain on 51 points – still just a win from third and promotion. This coming weekend they will play El Dude Brothers with the winner of that game expecting to reclaim third place if Ole slips up against Banana Swans (pun intended). After that they will then have to play three of the bottom four in the final run-in. Meanwhile, Ole still have to face the top two once more this season and C&BS still have to play third and fourth in their attempt to hold on to a promotion spot.

League Two

Promoted: Atletico Topo Chico
Promoted: Fergi Time
Promoted: Peltier

With a 50-point win over Ardoyne Aardvarks, Green Bay’s Peltier became the third and final team to be promoted from League Two. Excellent performances for Mane, Saka and Weghorst saw themselves qualify for promotion, and a Champions League place, despite Cumberland FC’s narrow win over Harambe. The top three all have to play each other one more time, meaning that there are three more six-pointers still to come out of League Two.

ATC and Peltier still have to play The Average Team once more each to prove their worth, having both won two and lost once so far, where as Fergi Time beat the average score for the fourth time last week and might have an easier run-in. That said, Fergi Time are the only team of the three that still have to play Cup Semi-Finalists Jaysokker, who will no doubt be building a team that can take on all-comers in the coming weeks.

Keep an eye out for Fergi Time -v- Peltier next weekend. The result won’t change their positions this week, but it will be the difference between Fergi Time being seven points clear with four games to go, or just one point ahead in a final-four-shootout.
