#31Atletico Topo Chico33 – 43Hung Like a Bony#12

This was a dominant defensive performance by Hung LaB. All four of their defenders, all playing for different teams, collected clean sheets this weekend including Victor Lindleof who signed for Hung less than 24 hours before kickoff. That said, Tierney might consider himself lucky after Leeds hit the woodwork three times. Regardless, their above-average total was boosted by a brilliant goal for Lo Celso against City just moments after being subbed on for Ndombele.
While everything seemed to go right for Hung, ATC struggled with a lack of firepower up front. With Callum Wilson absent and Aguero keeping the bench warm, Aubameyang had a quiet game against Leeds, only having three touches inside the 18-yard box, one shot on target and was hampered by Pepe’s red card early in the first half. On top of that, Tariq Lamptey picked up two yellow cards and helped himself to an early bath too.
Hung Like a Bony make the Quarter Finals for the second time in a row and will face #1-ranked Gloopy Yarbles in two weeks. The last time they met, Gloopy won both legs of the IML QF in Season Five.

#19Cornballers27 – 29Cumberland FC#13

Cumberland are also through to the Quarter Finals for a second successive time thanks almost entirely to a first-half brace from Dominic Calvert-Lewin. This low-scoring match, the lowest-scoring Last 16 match in BFFA Cup history, went right down to the final whistle. Cornballers lost a potential clean sheet when Walcott netted for Southampton, but the Cornballers returned the favour by wiping away Cumberland’s goalkeeper clean sheet eighteen minutes later when Jimenez assisted Neto’s equaliser. Jimenez and Wolves continued to press on for a winning goal, but Alex McCarthy did the job for Cumberland, preventing another goal and making eight saves in the process. Those two points from Saves proved to be the difference in the end and Cumberland progress.

#1Gloopy Yarbles51 – 41East Loop United#29

On paper, this game could’ve have ended 3-3 on goals scored alone, but this is fantasy football. Clean sheets for Nick Pope, Bellerin and James plus the Jimenez assist on Monday night helped the Bestish leaders pass 50 for the fifth time in nine games. Bruno Fernandes’ retaken penalty turned a -3 penalty kick miss into a +5 for a goal and having West Brom’s penalty overturned by VAR helped him get a clean sheet point too.
Gloopy Yarbles head into the Quarters for the first time in their four-year history and will have to play Hung in the next round, who are currently on a six-game winning streak in all competitions.

#5Housewives Favourite44 – 27Ole’s at the Wheel#22

Housewives Favourite remain top of League Two with their win over Ole’s at the Wheel and the same result saw them comfortably ease into the next round. The Fernandes penalty was the only goal of the tie and both teams collected an assist. New signings for Housewives, Meslier and van Aanholt, were added during the last free agent transfer window. Meslier wasn’t needed as Lloris kept a clean sheet against Man City and van Aanholt had his clean sheet taken in the 8th minute by Chris Wood. Jimenez’s contribution denied OatWheel a clean sheet and with Theo Walcott on the bench, Housewives Favourite won the double-fixture without much of a challenge.

#3RelicFC35 – 27Tralfamadore Zoo#4

It started very badly for the Zoo away in the Cup; Lamptey conceded two then got sent off for a second yellow card. In the following match, Son scored within five minutes for Relic, but Reguilon pulled some points back with a clean sheet at home to City. On Sunday, Fornals assisted Haller for Tralfamadore but Fabianski kept a clean sheet in the same game for Relic and then Tarkowski also collected a clean sheet in Monday’s match at home to Palace.
With that defeat it now means that there will be a new Cup winner on Boxing Day and Relic might fancy themselves to be the ones to add their name to the trophy.

#14stilluvQPR46 – 27Bigger than Brolin#8

The team eighth in the Championship knocked the Premiership title challengers out of the cup with goals from Abraham and Son, three clean sheets and the assist for Mount that led to the first (own) goal of the weekend. Abraham was signed to stilluvQPR during the international break and scored against Newcastle on his home debut.
Timo Werner’s assist to Abraham contributed three points to the former Champions efforts, but ultimately the nine men of Brolin weren’t enough to take on stilluvQPR this weekend, especially after Son’s goal had wiped away the clean sheets of Cancelo and Dias.
StilluvQPR moved up the Best-ish Rankings this week into the top ten. They will face Cumberland FC in the next round. Cumberland, who scraped through their fixture with the all-time lowest winning score in the Last 16 of the Cup, lost in the League to bottom side Bielsaball and lost their six-game winning streak in the process. The two teams have two weeks to set themselves up for a big Quarter Final.

#34Vanishing Spray51 – 32GoFYS FC#7

Putting your faith in Man United is a risky business, but when you have three United players bringing home twenty points combined, it is definitely worth it. Just like in the adjacent match, Housewives vs. Ole, there was only one goal and it came courtesy of the Bruno Fernandes retaken penalty. Spray also collected assists from Mount, Richarlison and Che Adams, who replaced Riyad Mahrez during the international break.
In a Freaky Friday-esque role reversal Spray changed their fortunes with their biggest score of the season and broke a 5-game winless run, while GoFYS’s good luck ran out and they lost their win streak to League title rivals Route 57.
In two weeks time Vanishing Spray will meet League Two’s League leaders and last season’s National League table-toppers Housewives Favourite who are in great form and moving up the rankings. However, a lower-league team has only once beaten a Premier League side in the Quarter-Finals, when Tralfamadore Zoo knocked out CPW on their way to winning the Cup.

#25Webuiltthis City32 – 32Fossvogur FC#39
Gameweek 9

Well, it wasn’t pretty, but it was close match throughout and will be going to a replay next weekend. Fossvogur’s three clean sheets matched Web City’s two plus Walcott’s goal against Wolves. After both lost their League matches this week too, both will be keen to do well next week and put their team forward to a Quarter-Final against Relic.
The last time there was a draw in the Third Round, Mighty Fine Feeling drew 56-all with Goleta Hotspur and then beat them 58-47 in the replay. If the game next week is to play out anything like that, there will be a lot more to write about!

#39Fossvogur FC60 – 31Webuiltthis City#25
Gameweek 10

As if in response to the previous write-up, Fossvogur went out there and smashed it up. Thanks to Mahrez’s hat-trick and other short stories, Fossvogur hit the top score of the weekend and set up a Quarter-Final against the League One league leaders Relic.

Web City were unable to compete with such a high target and in fact, they only had eight points to show for their efforts on Monday morning. In the early evening game, Leicester were unable to keep up with Fulham, but finally broke through when Vardy selflessly assisted Barnes in the 86th minute, both adding points to Web’s desperate attempt to avoid a rout. At the end of play, Callum Wilson came on for the absent Aguero. Wilson had broken the deadlock at Selhurst Park on Friday with a furious four minutes late on in the game, scoring in the 88th minute and assisting Joelinton in the last minute of regular time. While this enough to earn three points at home to RelicFC in the League, it was far, far short of a Quarter-Final-worthy score.

Ten-man Fossvogur made everyone look stupid this week, not only with Mahrez’s hat-trick but also with goals from Gabriel and Menjamin Bendy. They comfortably won both their games this weekend without Pogba, Sigurdsson or AS-M. They were clearly not needed as their 5-man defence alone outscored Web City and twenty-three other teams this week too, including Fossvogur’s League opponents Bros. With two goals, three clean sheets and an assist, they could’ve won with just five players. They could’ve scored even higher too, had De Gea made way for Sam Johnstone, but enough is enough, and 60 was more than enough.

Winter Cup Quarter Finals
Gameweek 11

(#8) stilluvQPR (Cha.) -v- (#17) Cumberland FC (L2)
Two tournaments, two Quarter-Finals for Cumberland FC. The Northerners are unbeaten in all five games that they’ve played in the competition and the next team in their crosshairs are the same team that they knocked out last season to reach the QFs.
In last year’s barn burner, Cumberland FC edged the match 55-53 before the competition was abandoned. This season, barring another disaster, the tourney will be completed and the Final will be played on Boxing Day. These teams are two victories away from being a part of it. The big battleground for this matchup will be the final match of the gameweek – Brighton v Southampton on Monday night. Both teams have Brighton players in ‘keeper Mat Ryan (stilluvQPR) and defender Adam Webster (Cumberland), and also both teams have a pair of Southampton players too – GK McCarthy & FWD Che Adams (Cumberland) will be facing DEF Jannik Vestergaard and MID James Ward-Prowse. This will be a true test of fantasy management.

(#1) Gloopy Yarbles (L1) -v- (#4) Hung Like a Bony (Cha.)
Hung LaB are on a roll. They have won their last seven games in both competitions and they topscored in the Second Round with a massive 67-41 win over Premier League’s Smash & Grab. Gloopy Yarbles are of course very capable of high scores too; they’ve scored over 50FPts in five of the ten weeks so far and are number one going into the Last 8.
The two sides have met seven times before. They played five times in League Two back in S4, Gloopy won three, Hung won two. The sides finished that season third and fourth, Gloopy went up, Hung got promoted the season after. Since then both teams have had Cup runs but not quite reached a Final. However, both got promoted last season and have started extremely well this year too.
This weekend Hung go into the QF with Riyad Mahrez returning after his hat-trick last weekend against Burnley, while Gloopy will come into the game with the Premier League’s topscorer Calvert-Lewin, going up against that same Burnley side. Also, look out for possible showdowns between Mat Ryan (Gloopy) keeping goal against last season’s Golden Boot runner-up Danny Ings (Hung) and co., and Vladimir Coufal (Hung) defending his goal in front of Bruno Fernandes (Gloopy).

(#3) Housewives Favourite (L2) -v- (#28) Vanishing Spray FC (Prem)
The winningest team in the BFFA after 10 games (8-2, 415FPts) face the Premier League’s last remaining hopeful. Housewives Favourite, top of League Two, are riding high on a seven-game winning streak and are scoring well, but Vanishing Spray have outscored Wives Fave the last two weeks and are starting to build a winning streak for themselves.
There has been a Premier League team in every BFFA Cup Final during the BFFA Premier League era but Housewives Fave have already knocked out One PL side already in this tournament and are well set to take out another. Watch out for Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek of West Ham (Wives Fave) going up against Man United’s Telles, Wan-Bissaka, and Bruno Fernandes (Spray).

(#6) RelicFC (L1) -v- (#37) Fossvogur FC (L2)
Newcomers Fossvogur have had a slow start to the season, but proved their mettle last weekend in their Third Round replay against Webuiltthis City (see above) when they won with the highest score of the Round. RelicFC reached the QFs by knocking out 2018 Cup Winners and ranked-fourth Tralfamadore Zoo.
For a taste of how this game is going, keep an eye on Gabriel Jesus (Relic) trying to outscore Mahrez and Sterling (Fossvogur) on Saturday then tune in to the North London Derby on Sunday to see Arsenal Defenders Kieron Tierney (Relic) and Gabriel Magalhães (Fossvogur) are doing their bit for opposing sides, as are Reguilon (Fossvogur) and Heung-Min Son (Relic) in white.
