(#31) Atletico Topo Chico (L2) -v- (#12) Hung Like a Bony (Cha.)
Both of these teams go into this weekend sitting in sixth place in their respective Leagues, both with four wins from eight. Hung are on a three-game winning streak while ATC just had the same ended with a loss to SNSS. The main focus here will be the large difference between their points tally so far – Hung have outscored ATC by 60 FPts over the first eight weeks. However, ATC would have beaten Hung in gameweeks 1 and 5; and that pattern would suggest that ATC could do it again this weekend.
(#19) Cornballers (Cha.) -v- (#13) Cumberland FC (L2)
This match features two teams that had successful campaigns last time out. Cornballers finished the season at the top of League One and Cumberland ended up in Second place in the National League. Cornballers also won the IML while Cumberland won their Third Round match in the Cup before it was abandoned. Cornballers come into this fixture on a six-game winning streak and will probably be favoured to win with a slightly superior fantasy points total, although it should be noted that during that six-game run, the Cornballers have outscored their opponents twice.
(#1) Gloopy Yarbles (L1) -v- (#29) East Loop United (Cha.)
The top ranked team in the BFFA, Gloopy Yarbles, will be facing ELU for the first time this weekend and will fancy themselves to reach the Quarter-Finals for the first time in the Cup. While the Third Round has been their undoing twice before, East Loop United have once made it all the way to The Final, in 2017, and are aiming to get there again as one of the four remaining teams from this tourney’s First Round.
(#5) Housewives Favourite (L2) -v- (#22) Ole’s at the Wheel (L2)
This will be a special meeting between the pair as they also face each other in the League this weekend. Wives’ Fave are top of League Two, albeit level on League points with Cumberland and Jaysokker. Ole’s at the Wheel sit eighth in the League but have scored above average in the last two weeks and will hope to continue scoring well after the international break. The pair met three times last season, before its untimely conclusion, each taking away a win and a draw from their encounters.
(#3) RelicFC (L1) -v- (#4) Tralfamadore Zoo FC (Prem)
It’s a Third Round clash of the Titans here as two of the Cup’s early favourites meet for the right to progress to the Quarters. Tralfamadore of course won the Cup in 2018 and it was in that same tournament that Relic had their only appearance in the Quarter-Finals. This season, Tralfamadore are hovering around mid-table despite scoring the most Fantasy Points in the Premier League while Relic are top of League One and haven’t lost a game since Week 1!
(#14) stilluvQPR (Cha.) -v- (#8) Bigger Than Brolin (Prem)
These two have not played against each other since they shared League One in Season 3. BtB won the League and the Cup that year and rose through the ranks to the Premier League. StilluvQPR beat Big Brol twice that season, and drew once, but remained stuck in League One until this year. They’ve found it hard adapting to life in the Championship early on, mainly because they’ve come up against the fifth-highest scoring opponents (FPtsA) of the forty, but they beat League rivals Banana Swans in the last round to have another go at reaching the Quarters.
(#34) Vanishing Spray FC (Prem) -v- (#7) GoFYS FC (Cha.)
This fixture is one of our most recurrent matchups; this pair have met sixteen times previously but this will be the first time in the Cup and the first time since Season 4. GoFYS have won no less than ten of their encounters with Spray and will be trying to avoid a cupset as a top-10 team that have won their last five games.
(#25) Webuiltthis City (L1) -v- (#39) Fossvogur FC (L2)
Two teams struggling for fantasy points face off for the right to play the winner of #3 Relic vs. #4 Tralfamadore Zoo in the Quarter-Finals. Fossvogur have arrived here from the First Round after beating 2019 Runners-Up Wijnaldum Leviosa and the then-#4 All Star Gunners of the Premier League. Web City managed to win their last game against Chicken and Bacon Sane, who had taken three points off them two weeks previously in the League. Whoever wins this tie will no doubt do it with an great slice of luck.
The Last 16 teams have been set a path to the Final.
There are currently six top-ten teams still in the Cup – two on the left side and four on the right, including Relic and Tralfamadore who face each other this weekend.
On the left side of the bracket there is one Championship team in each match. On the right side are the only two teams currently top of their Leagues – Housewives Fave and Relic, although GoFYS and Cumberland are both within a point of the top spots. The two previous winners still in the competition are on opposite sides, as are the top- and bottom-rated teams at this stage.
