#8stilluvQPR31 – 31Hung Like a Bony#4

This clash of the Championship sides, both Top Ten teams, ended in a dramatic draw after the substitutes came on and levelled the match, taking the fixture into a replay.
The gameweek kicked off with Wolves coming from behind to beat Chelsea; Daniel Podence giving Hung LaB an early lead with his equaliser against the Blues. Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham both scored a single point each for stilluvQPR. That was followed up with West Brom’s score draw at home to Man City in which stilluvQPR’s reserve ‘keeper Sam Johnstone earned four points with seven saves against City, and Hung collected four from Mendy and KdB’s appearances. At the end of play on the first night, Hung were up 10-2.
On Wednesday, twelve more teams took to the pitch. Callum Wilson set up Jeff Hendrick for Newcastle’s opener away at Leeds and thus added an assist towards Hung’s increasing lead. Later that evening though QPR began their comeback with two goals at Anfield going in from the feet of Salah and Son. By the end of the second day, stilluvQPR had taken a narrow lead, 25-24.
On the third and final day there only remained one player on both sides – Maguire for stilluvQPR and Lindelof for Hung. With both defenders playing for the same team, it looked like the former would walk through as winners, but when Lindelof set up Marcus Rashford for United’s equaliser, Hung was back in the lead, 29-27. Finally, as the gameweek closed, QPR’s absent ‘keeper Mat Ryan was replaced by Sam Johnstone (4 points), and for the away team Fofana (2 points) was favoured over Reguilon (1 point), levelling it out at 31-31. The first ever BFFA Cup Semi-Final Replay will be held this weekend, on Gameweek 14.

#3Housewives Favourite23 – 26Fossvogur FC#33

The underdogs Fossvogur FC continue to stun the world and take out another giant in the Cup, making them the first team into the BFFA Winter Cup Final. Despite their poor League form, and losing their third consecutive match in League Two to fellow strugglers Bielsaball, they have gone six games unbeaten in the Cup and are now themselves on the verge of not just a rookie-year trophy, but with a Championship team facing them in the Final they could also be claiming a Grand Slam too.
Wives Fav had been on a fantastic run of form leading into this Semi-Final match, winning all of their last seven League matches and having not scored a below-average (35FPts) total since Gameweek 5. This week however, the whole team let everybody down by simply not contributing anything more than an appearance each. The only exception being Victor Lindelof, the only player to score more than two points with his assist, covering for Cancelo’s and Ings’ yellow cards.
So after losing to Housewives Favourite twice in the League, Fossvogur got the best of them in the Cup and will represent League Two in the Winter Cup Final.

Semi-Final Replay

#4Hung Like a Bony33 – 46 stilluvQPR#8

Four late goals decided the replay and put stilluvQPR into their first ever Cup Final. A quick brace from Salah in the first game of the weekend and an even quicker brace for Abraham in the last ensured that the Championship team saw off their League rivals comfortably, even with an own goal from Toby Alderweireld in the mix. Sam Johnstone made seven saves for the second consecutive week, returning once again to replace Mat Ryan, but Yerry Mina remained on the bench with a rare goal to his credit away at Arsenal.
On Day 1, Saturday, shortly after Salah’s goals away at Palace, KdB assisted for the only goal of the second match, earning five points for Hung and later Callum Wilson’s penalty that evening also helped to close the gap, but Hung LaB were fighting an uphill battle from the start. Lindelof’s goal in United’s 6-2 win over Leeds also did a lot for Hung’s efforts to reach the Final, but the Wolves contingent within the team couldn’t contribute anything more than appearance points so when 8pm came around, all that Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount had to do on Monday night was to stay on the pitch for sixty minutes.
So stilluvQPR, playing in their fifth year in the BFFA, march into The Final to face Fossvogur FC who are playing their very first season.

The Winter Cup Final
Gameweek 15

Saturday 26th – Sunday 27th December

stilluvQPR#7 -v- Fossvogur FC#34

This Winter Cup Final has put together the teams (currently) seventh-top in the Best-ish standings and seventh-bottom. The obvious expectation here would be that the Championship side, who have collected over 100 Fantasy Points more than their opposition (554FPts – 440FPts) will walk away with the title very, very easily. But Fossvogur have had a baptism of fire in the Cup and arrive here this weekend ready for another scrap.
Fossvogur have survived since the First Round and have seen off previous Cup Runners-Up Wijnaldum Leviosa, the Premier League’s All Star Gunners (who were ranked fourth overall at the time), the two teams currently sitting first and second in League One and the side currently top of League Two!

It is an almost inescapable fact that stilluvQPR will be coming into the Final with the Premier League’s top-two goalscorers in Salah and Son (drafted 3rd & 18th in the Championship), but comparing the two squads as they are you might notice that there are some indications that Fossvogur have a team worthy of being in the Final.
The Fossvogur players (as they line up at the end of GW14) are earning more Fantasy Points per game played on average (3.215 vs. 3.115) and have more defensive clean sheets than stilluvQPR’s men. On top of that they have some favourable matchups too, such as – Mahrez & Sterling at home to Newcastle, where they both scored in the same fixture just five months ago; Trezeguet against Palace where he scored twice in the same fixture last July; and Gylfi will be travelling to Bramall Lane where he assisted Richarlison in their penultimate game last season.

Of course it would only be fair if I also wrote about the stilluvQPR side that got to the Final, scoring over 40 points in every round. Firstly, their choice of goalkeeper will need some careful consideration this weekend – would it be out-of-favour Mat Ryan or the Premier League’s top shot-stopper Sam Johnstone, who will be expecting to see a lot of the ball against League leaders Liverpool. Or…will there be a Christmas transfer?!
In defence stilluvQPR can boast about players like Jannik Vestergaard (5 clean sheets & 3 goals), Yerry Mina (3 clean sheets & 2 goals) and Luke Ayling (4 clean sheets and has started every game so far). In midfield Mason Mount and James Ward-Prowse have assisted three each; Ward-Prowse himself has scored four and has also played the full 90 minutes in every game. And up front they have Abraham, Salah and Son in fine form too.

So both teams come into the game looking for their first BFFA title. Fossvogur will also be hoping to stun everybody by completing a grand slam of knocking out a team from each division on their way to the trophy. stilluvQPR have ten BFFA Cup victories so far and will be wanting the eleventh one to be the golden one!

Although the squads are likely to change during the Christmas transfer window, keep an eye out for:
Game #4: Arsenal -v- Chelsea
Abraham (Fwd, stilluv) -v- Gabriel (Def, Foss)
Game #6: Sheff United -v- Everton
Baldock (Def, stilluv) -v- Sigurdsson (Mid, Foss)
Game #9: Liverpool -v- West Brom
Salah (Fwd, stilluv) -v- Johnstone (GK, Foss)
Game #10: Wolves -v- Spurs
Son (Fwd, stilluv) -v- Boly (Def, Foss)

The teams will be locked in at the Gameweek deadline –
11am on Saturday 26th December.

Have a very merry Christmas to you all. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, I hope you have a wonderful week!
