Season 7 – The Run-in – 3 games to go

The results are in!

Gameweek No.35 was a huge 15-game, 7-day-long affair that pushed a lot of teams (both real and fantasy) to the limit. Manchester United were forced to squeeze a third game into the gameweek, playing three PL games in five days!

This weekend also featured the inaugural Super Cup – our Cup Winners’ Cup played between stilluvQPR of the Championship and Bigger than Brolin of the Premier League. The match report is here: <Link>

All Star Gunners 34 – 72 Vanishing Spray FC
Bigger Than Brolin 56 – 57 The Money Team
Mighty fine feeling 69 – 67 Smash & Grab
Tralfamadore Zoo FC 23 – 55 Boss

The battle for the Premier League Champion is back on! With a brace each from Firmino and Greenwood, a goal from Calvert-Lewin and no goalkeeper(!), Mighty fine feeling are back in the hunt for the BFFA’s top prize! However, The Money Team also kept their hopes of second place alive with a one-point win over the new BFFA Cup Champions, and with BtB & ASG losing this week, FC Santa Barbara are still eyeing up fourth place and Champions League fantasy football after the summer.

In the hunt for survival, Vanishing Spray made a big bid to stay above the red line, making the biggest score of the week in the Premier League, but with Boss winning this week too that seventh golden spot may not be decided until the final gameweek. Champions League holders Tralfamadore are still holding on mathematically, but need a lot of things to go their way.

Gameweek 35
Banana Swans 59 – 66 GoFYS FC
Cornballers 64 – 67 SB Town Baggers
Route 57 FC 80 – 31 AFC Chester
Sporting Wicker Park 85 – 40 Hung Like a Bony
stilluvQPR 46 – 56 East Loop United

Route 57 took another step towards the Championship title this week, also with an outstanding performance from Mason Greenwood. SB Town kept pace after a narrow escape against Cornballers and GoFYS FC are also battling for second. StilluvQPR’s loss to ELU hasn’t destroyed their hopes of making the top four, but time is running out on them.

Things at the other end of the table have heated up with East Loop United climbing up to seventh and stepping over Hung Like a Bony to do so. The final three games will be very exciting with both teams facing the two other teams in the relegation zone, then both challenging two teams in the top four. Banana Swans were unlucky to lose this week after outscoring GoFYS by five goals to four. Unfortunately, the loss has left them six points shy of safety, with an inferior points total, and only three games left. The Swans play Hung LaB next and need to win or draw to avoid a relegation sentence on Monday.

League One

*: Clinched CL Place; Green Line – Promotion; Blue Line – Champions League Places; Red Line – Relegation Zone

Gameweek 35
Chicken and Bacon Sane 46 – 51 Wijnaldum Leviosa
RelicFC 41 – 75 Gloopy Yarbles
Sugar Daddies 54 – 49 Harambe Hotspur F.C.
The Globes FC 53 – 49 BattleVAR Galáctico
Webuiltthis City 41 – 57 Goleta Hotspur

If you thought the fight to avoid falling down into League One was hot, have a look at the scrap to win the League and escape. With three losses on the trot, Web City are letting the title slip through their fingers. Gloopy Yarbles are on a hot streak, 6 wins since losing to City in GW29, and have closed the gap to the top from fifteen to just three. With this form differential and a clash between the pair in the final week, the League One run-in is going to go to the wire.

Of course, there is another team in League One with stars in their eyes – RelicFC. Relic missed out on the opportunity to go top this week with nine points between themselves and Gloopy. Unfortunately for them (but good for the neutral spectators), the Yarbles thumped home five goals and picked up the gauntlet. With that, they also earned promotion to the Championship and a place in the Champions League.

In other news, the bottom two sides won this week and the three above them all lost, which means that any three of five could be relegated this month, although BattleVAR can probably auto-select their team from here with nine points and a heap of FP to their advantage. Chicken and Bacon go to Goleta next and could secure safety if they win and Harambe lose, however, if Harambe do manage to overturn a Relic side battling for a title and Goleta, whose season is effectively over, beat the side in seventh, then Harambe Hotspur would be with a win of regaining seventh and putting the pressure on.

League Two

Gameweek 35
Cumberland FC 53 – 41 Fossvogur FC
Housewives Favourite 75 – 66 Klopps and Robbers
Jaysokker 53 – 43 Bielsaball
Ole’s at the Wheel 31 – 66 The El Dude Brothers
Sorry not so sorry 40 – 60 Atletico Topo Chico

This week we crown our first League Champion! Housewives Favourite beat third-placed K&R with two goals from Bruno and two from Christian (and even had a penalty miss from Luka too). With three games still to play, Wives Fav have been crowned League Two Champions and don’t have to worry about an ugly six-pointer against Ole’s at the Wheel next week.

The other two promotion spots are still being contested by four teams. OatWheel have to play the Champions next week, but are six points clear of K&R. K&R play the team below them this coming weekend, the loser of which may see their promotion hopes fade away if The El Dude Bros win. Bros have the easiest run-in of the lot, they play sixth next, followed by the bottom two (and they’ve won 7/8 against ATC & Fossvogur this season). So the Round 36 results will be key to who make it into League One,

The 2021 Champions League Reserve Teams
The Super Cup was won by Bigger than Brolin. They have joined Tralfamadore Zoo in next season’s Champions League. The result means that the first Reserve Team are stilluvQPR. Should Big Brol finish in the Top 4 at the end of the season then stilluvQPR will be invited into the 2021 CL too.

Should stilluvQPR and Bigger than Brolin both finish in the Top 4 in their divisions, then the free space will go to the top Bestish team that hasn’t yet qualified. So, if the season were to end today and a space was available, either Wijnaldum Leviosa or Klopps and Robbers would be that team. If they are then tied on FPts as they are here, the tiebreaker would be total goals scored this season. At the end of Gameweek 35, Wijnaldum is winning that battle 67-62!
