Season 7 – The Run-in – 4 games to go

The results are in!

Things are getting heated for the teams in third, fourth & (sometimes) fifth and the sides close to the red line are also getting desperate for points.

Gameweek 35 will also see the Championship’s stilluvQPR take on Bigger than Brolin of the Premier League in the Super Cup.

Gameweek 34
Boss 20 – 32 All Star Gunners
FC Santa Barbara 39 – 16 Mighty fine feeling
The Money Team 41 – 41 AC Reykjavik CobbleHill
Tralfamadore Zoo FC 24 – 59 Bigger Than Brolin
Vanishing Spray FC 17 – 40 Smash & Grab

The Money Team avoided embarrassment last weekend and took a point away from their clash with AC Reykjavik CobbleHill. Money had no players playing in the final two days of the gameweek, while AC Rey came close to taking a third win on the trot with goals and assists from Son and Aubameyang, and Ashley Westwood’s deuce on Monday. That draw ensured The Money Team would be competing in the Champions League next season, despite wins for Bigger than Brolin and All Star Gunners. For those who haven’t seen it, Big Brol also won the Spring Cup last weekend and that League win moved them two points closer to the Premier League prize money. Although overturning nine points in four weeks may seem daunting, they have Money in the League this week and also a substantial FPts advantage.

All Star Gunners can no longer reach the Top Three now, but are still fighting for a Champions League place. Their next two opponents are both in bad form at the moment, and ASG could capitalise if BtB slip up. Below them, FC Santa Barbara are also in with an outside chance of stealing fourth place after beating second-placed Mighty fine feeling last week. That win also guarantees that they’re safe from relegation this season and can concentrate on climbing the League table.

In the relegation zone, eighth plays ninth when Boss face Tralfamadore Zoo. Zoo will follow that game with a trip to Spray’s manor in the week after. Their survival could be granted if they can earn six points from the next two games; two losses might see them fall back down to the Championship. Vanishing Spray have a difficult game against ASG this week, and will follow that up with matches against Zoo and Boss. AC Reykjavik could end FC Santa Barbara’s season this coming week if they win again and leave FCSB with nowhere to go.

Gameweek 34
AFC Chester 38 – 23 Cornballers
Banana Swans 22 – 21 Route 57 FC
GoFYS FC 36 – 32 Sporting Wicker Park
Hung Like a Bony 40 – 40 East Loop United
SB Town Baggers 26 – 40 stilluvQPR

The two teams straddling the relegation line – Hung Like a Bony and East Loop United played out a draw last week and remain where they are, two points apart. The draw was good news for Banana Swans in ninth who took a surprising one-point victory over table toppers Route 57 and closed the gap to safety down to five points with four games to go. Swans will now challenge GoFYS, who are locked in a struggle for third, and both teams are desperate for League points. Swans don’t normally have great luck against their next opponents – they’ve lost their last four against GoFYS and 9 of 12 in total.

AFC Chester are up against the top two in the League next, hoping to earn six very valuable points. If they are able to take the three points from Route 57 again next week and SB Town slip up against relegated Cornballers, then the following week could open up second place possibilities. Meanwhile of course, SB Town will be hoping that things all go their way and hope to move nine points clear of fourth after losing to the in-form stilluvQPR. Stilluv, who are also playing in the Super Cup this week, are coming in hot with a 9-game winning streak and hoping to make that double figures with a win over eighth-placed ELU. Also, third place and promotion are still on the table for them, despite having been in 8th and 20 points shy of the promotion places just a few weeks ago!

Harambe Hotspur F.C. 9 – 37 Goleta Hotspur
RelicFC 34 – 26 The Globes FC
Wijnaldum Leviosa 48 – 26 Webuiltthis City

The battle for the title heated up again last week as Webuiltthis City were destroyed by Gareth Bale and Wijnaldum Leviosa. RelicFC took the opportunity to close the gap with a third win over The Globes and left them in deep trouble as a consequence. Gloopy Yarbles are the League’s in-form team with a fifth win in a row and set up a huge game in the battle for second place this week.

The win for the Yarbles has left Sugar Daddies on the verge of relegation. They must now win all four of their remaining games if they stand a chance of surviving. The Globes must also perform a similar feat if staying up is to remain a conceivable concept, but also need other results to all go their way. Harambe Hotspur stand the best chance of regaining seventh place and face bottom side Sugar Daddies next, but will have to face two of the top three after that.

Gameweek 34
Atletico Topo Chico 30 – 41 Ole’s at the Wheel
Bielsaball 30 – 47 Housewives Favourite
Fossvogur FC 0 – 22 Sorry not so sorry
Jaysokker 21 – 32 Cumberland FC
Klopps and Robbers 37 – 26 The El Dude Brothers

It felt like a long time coming, but now Housewives Favourite have clinched promotion to League One. Their win over Bielsaball means that the teams fighting over third and fourth can’t catch them and a top-two place is guaranteed. And, as you can see above, with nine points over Ole’s at the Wheel and a hefty FPts advantage, the Best-ish leaders look ready to claim the title this week or next. However, their next two opponents, OatWheel and K&R, would love to cause an upset and both beat Wives’ Fave last time they met the league leaders.

Klopps & Robbers got an important win over The El Dude Brothers last week and took their place in third with a superior FPts total. The pair, straddling the promotion line, play the top two this coming week. Last time out, GW26, the top two lost to K&R and Bros, and Bros made the highest score in L2 this season, winning 97-50. Jaysokker and Sorry not so sorry are also still in with a chance of movin’ on up. The pair will meet in the final game of the season, but before that Jaysokker will play Bielsaball who proved to be a challenge in the last game (Jay edged it 59-55) and SNSS have a rematch against bottom side ATC, who beat them 43-33 nine weeks ago.

The 2021 Champions League Reserve Teams
The Super Cup will be played in GW35 between the Winter Cup winners (stilluvQPR) and the Spring Cup winners (Bigger than Brolin or Gloopy Yarbles). The winner of that game will receive a place in the 2021 Champions League next September.

If Tralfamadore Zoo (the Champions League holders) or the Super Cup Winners also occupy a CL-qualifying league place at the end of the season, the open place will be given to the Super Cup losers. If the SC losers finish in the top 3 in their league as well (or 4th in the PL or Championship), the free space will go to the top Bestish team that hasn’t yet qualified.

So, if the season were to end today and a space was available, Wijnaldum Leviosa would be that team. Closely behind them right now are stilluvQPR (1285 FPts), Ole’s at the Wheel (1295 FPts), GoFYS FC (1291 FPts) and The El Dude Bros (1283 FPts).
