Premier League

*: Guaranteed CL Place; Blue Line – Champions League Places; Red Line – Relegation Zone

Well we mentioned that AC Reykjavik still had the power to affect the Premier League and they did that last week with a one-point win over title hopefuls Mighty fine feeling. Son’s late penalty against Southampton on Tuesday night tipped the balance over to the recently-relegated side and Rodri’s winner against Villa clinched it. Mff’s goalkeepers and defenders were all just a single goal shy of clean sheet points, but none of them were able to keep the ball out for an entire game. Meanwhile, Smash & Grab‘s defence did the job (although strikers couldn’t). Their match against Tralfamadore Zoo saw no goals for either team, but three clean sheets and four assists gave them a comfortable win and a huge advantage in the title race.

The Money Team beat a relegation-battling team for the second week in a row and give themselves an outside chance of stealing back second place. They play Mighty fine feeling this weekend in a six-pointer that could open that door.

Things went badly wrong for Bigger than Brolin last week as they lost to the team below them and saw their ten-point cushion reduced to seven. While All Star Gunners still need to win three games more than Big Brol from the final six, they will be boosted by the fact that their next three are against the teams in ninth, eighth and seventh. Big Brol play AC Rey this weekend, but we’ve just seen how relegated teams like to bite back.

In the fight for survival, Vanishing Spray play the team above them, FC Santa Barbara, hoping for a third win over them this season. Their rivals, Boss, now just two points behind them, play the league leaders S&G who have won all three of their meetings this season.

Championship

*: Guaranteed CL Place; Green Line – Promotion; Blue Line – Champions League Places; Red Line – Relegation Zone

StilluvQPR increased their winning run to seven and relegated Cornballers yesterday thanks to goals from Son and Lingard. Cornballers battled back with three of their own (Cavani, Mane & McGinn), but without using their substitutes they were doomed to the drop. Unfortunately for the Winter Cup Champions, GoFYS also got three points last week at home to second-placed SB Town and they moved level on points with Chester in third.

AFC Chester, who did have the same number of Fantasy Points as GoFYS last week, lost 41-40 when, in the final match of the gameweek, Jonny Evans got in front of his man and scored his annual goal (against his former club no less). But Castagne’s assist for Vardy’s earlier goal keeps Chester ahead of GoFYS by 3FPts.

It looks at the moment like the battle for promotion will rage on to the final gameweek, but higher up Route 57 could secure promotion this weekend if they win and either Chester or GoFYS lose. This week top plays bottom and the Oxfordshire side has won all three league meetings this season. However, Cornballers knocked R57 out of the Winter Cup in the second round last year so nothing is guaranteed.

League One

*: Guaranteed CL Place; Green Line – Promotion; Blue Line – Champions League Places; Red Line – Relegation Zone

Web City became the first team to be promoted this season after their 24th win of the season and third over Chicken and Bacon Sane. C&BS, who were KO’d by the league leaders in the Winter Cup, lost a league place to BattleVAR Galactico last week after they who took all three points from Harambe Hotspur and consequentially moved to six points clear of the relegation zone.

The top three all won last week and RelicFC’s win over Goleta Hotspur means they are just two points from promotion too. A win over bottom-placed side Sugar Daddies this week will guarantee them a Champions League place and Championship football next season. For Sugar Daddies, time is running out for their survival hopes. They are eleven points shy of seventh place and there are only eighteen points available. Above them, The Globes will be battling Chicken and Bacon Sane in seventh for their own hopes of clinging on and Harambe have to take on Wijnaldum Leviosa who must still believe that promotion is attainable. Wijnaldum, who scored 35FPts last week, are still in-line to take the first reserve team spot for the Champions League next season.

League Two

Green Line – Promotion; Blue Line – Champions League Places

Housewives Favourite had a big 59-25 win last weekend that moved them one step closer to League One. They could also achieve promotion this weekend if they beat Jaysokker and K&R also lose to bottom side Atletico Topo Chico. ATC are one of three teams at the bottom tied on 33 points. Although it’s too late for any of them to launch a promotion campaign now, they will no doubt all be trying to avoid getting the 2021 wooden spoon. After losing their last four games, ATC will be trying to channel the good luck the had in GW6 when they last beat K&R.

The other two at the bottom of the table will be facing the other two teams in the promotion spots. Although Fossvogur haven’t yet beaten Ole’s at the Wheel, they will be coming into the game in great form. They have won three-in-a-row and six of the eight games since they last met OatWheel, including four weeks where they scored over 50FPts. Ole’s are also on the rise though. Having beaten two midtable teams in the last two weeks and outscoring the team above them by 22, they regained second place from The El Dude Bros by the grace of six FPts, With Jaysokker five league points behind them in fourth place, Ole’s and Bros do have room for one slip-up but if Jaysokker can steal a win from the league leaders this week then they will firmly keep the pressure on.

The 2021 Champions League Reserve Teams
The Super Cup will be played in GW35 between the Winter Cup winners (stilluvQPR) and the Spring Cup winners (Bigger than Brolin or Gloopy Yarbles). The winner of that game will receive a place in the 2021 Champions League next September.

If Tralfamadore Zoo (the Champions League holders) or the Super Cup Winners also occupy a CL-qualifying league place at the end of the season, the open place will be given to the Super Cup losers. If the SC losers finish in the top 3 in their league as well (or 4th in the PL or Championship), the free space will go to the top Bestish team that hasn’t yet qualified.

So, if the season were to end today and a space was available, Wijnaldum Leviosa would be that team. Closely behind them right now are K&R (1296 FPts), stilluvQPR (1247 FPts), Sporting Wicker Park (1204 FPts) and Hung Like a Bony (1202 FPts).
