Season 6 – Gameweek 27

The results are in!

Premier League

FC Santa Barbara made it 5 wins in a row last this weekend and put another three points between themselves and second place. While Smash & Grab were losing to the in-form Mighty fine feeling, Boss beat the basement side AC Reykjavik and moved to within one point of Second Place. The top three have all scored over 1,000 after playing everyone thrice, and MFF in Fourth are only 6 matchpoints shy. It’s set up to be another competitive run-in in the Premier League.

At the other end, All Star Gunners saw off Vanishing Spray in a relegation six-pointer but were unable to escape the relegation zone this week as Bigo1 beat The Money Team, stifling their chances of reaching the Top 3.
Next week, ASG will play the other side struggling with relegation fears, AC Reykjavik, while Vanishing Spray do battle with seventh-placed Bigo1, hoping to help them fall back the relegation zone. At the other end, the top two face-off in their penultimate meeting this season. Smash & Grab haven’t beaten FCSB in their last four meetings, their last win was March last year. Another loss would leave them eight points off the top of the pile.

Championship

Tralfamadore Zoo completed a Grand Slam this week by beating Chucky Pad Warriors and making it 9 wins in a row. The clean sweep puts Tralfamadore Zoo twelve points clear at the top while CPW are dangling in the relegation zone by the small matter of just seven matchpoints.
Elsewhere East Loop United collected their fourth consecutive win and are now back up to third, level on points with AFC Chester and GoFYS FC. Branwellington put an end to their six-game losing streak by beating AFC Chester, who had beaten them twice in the League previously, and Banana Swans (who’d beaten Branwellington the week before to end their own six-game losing streak) won again and move six points above Sporting Wicker Park and the drop zone.

Next week the two in-form teams face off when East Loop play Tralfamadore Zoo for the fourth time this season. Thus far, the Zoo have won all three, but ELU have outscored their opponents over the last two weeks, 99 matchpoints to 91. Chucky Pad Warriors will also fancy their chances against their opponents next week, they have beaten bottom-of-the-League Branwellington all three times this season, but again, the underdogs have been scoring better over the last two matches.

League One

The top four all won this week and opened up a gap between them and the rest. Hung and Bacuna both hit 50 for the second time this season and kept the competition hot. Hung won comfortably, they didn’t even need the twelve points that Jota brought home. Similarly, Bacuna Matata didn’t need Bruno Fernandes to score eleven, but he did. Cornballers didn’t need eleven men, they won with ten, and K.H. Granitza Sting didn’t need Mane, Jesus and Jimenez all to score, but they did. In the other match, Web City won with a score of 49 and moved up a place to Ninth.

Next week, Bacuna Matata get a chance to take Third Place from Hung LaB. Both teams are on a good run of form and Bacuna won the last time the two teams met. Cornballers play stilluvQPR and will be looking for revenge after the loss that Traore and Martial dealt them nine weeks ago. KH play Relic and will also be trying to win back the three points that the bottom side took from them last time together. City play Goleta in their bid for freedom and Route 57 will be hoping to break the Cabezazo Curse next weekend; they haven’t beaten the Incredibles in their last six meetings.

League Two

Harambe had a perfect week as they collected their third win over Sugar Daddies and Tiger Tail struggled against the Galacticos. Obi-Wan and Gloopy also won this week to put pressure on Second Place again. Wijnaldum’s seven-game win streak came to an end and The Globes’ five-game losing streak also ended with a two-point win over Chicken and Bacon Sane.

Next time out, Tiger Tail have a difficult game against Gloopy Yarbles who have won nine of the last eleven, while Harambe play seventh-placed The Globes and Obi-Wan play eighth-placed Sugar Daddies.

National League

Chi Spurs made a massive leap from seventh upto fourth this week after beating second-placed Cumberland FC 43-30. That loss, and Katner’s win over fourth-placed DS7, dropped the northerners down to third and level on points with the resurgent Chi Spurs. That result allowed Katner to climb upto their highest position this season and gave Housewives’ Favourite another chance to move away from the pack. The League leaders broke their four-game drought with their first win over OATWheel and hang on to their four-point cushion at the top at the end of the third round of games.

At the start of the next, Chi Spurs are the in-form team in the Nashunal. They have won the last three-in-a-row and have won all three against Jaysokker this season but, as you can see below, Jaysokker had the best score last week and will be coming into GW28 full of fire and fighting to climb up the League.
With only six points between third and ninth(!) Klopps and Robbers & Slab Head FC are still eyeing-up promotion, but unfortunately the pair face the top two teams next week. That said, Slab Head have beaten Housewives’ Favourite twice this season, including the 67-38 drubbing in Week One. K’n’R on the other hand, have only beaten Katner once, in that 38-37 firefight in Week Ten.
In the other two games, Cumberland FC, the first team to pass 1,000 matchpoints in the League, got their first win over Ole’s at the Wheel last time out and will be hoping to reclaim second place if Katner slip up again, but know they’ll be overtaken if they lose. Similarly, Chitown Gooners, the highest scoring team outside of the top three, got their first win over DS7 last time they met and are guaranteed to move at least one place up the table with a win next week, but in a very tight league they are prone to sliding down as well.
