Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• A great week for Gloopy Yarbles. A ten-point win over a Smash & Grab side that are dominating in the Champions League, and the four teams below them all lost. Six points clear at the top.
• Two teams lost by just two points – second-placed Housewives Favourite went down 37-35 (leaving Leno (5FPts) and Pinnock (7) on the bench), and Sporting Wicker Park lost to a mighty Fine side that featured both Gvardiol (10) and Saliba (-3).

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Smash & Grab -v- Housewives Favourite4th -v- 2nd
Ignoring for a moment that we also have a 1st v 3rd match to follow, this game will change the shape of the top half of the Premier League over the weekend. Either the current Premier League champions will push away from S&G, or the winningest team in the BFFA (255 all-time wins) will pull level with second-place and narrow the matchpoint differential. Wood and Højlund (currently) upfront for the home team, Haaland and Archer for the champions.

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Poor, poor ASG. Second-highest score in the league, 10 points above the average, faith in Vardy rewarded, went up against DBT who fancied smashing it out the park this week. Dropped two places despite playing extremely well. Gutting.
Atletico Topo Chico and Bigger than Brolin also moved up with good wins.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Preliminary Version -v- De Bruyne Trousers1st -v- 2nd
Impossible to ignore the top of the table battle in the Championship. First v Second, two points apart. We could witness a change at the top, we could see Prelim go five points clear. These two know each other quite well already; third seasons, third league together. In S.9 CG XI 3/4 against DBT, in S.10 DBT won 3/4. This matchup will of course not only be the last one of this first quarter set, it will also be a final week showdown, come what may.

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Only two teams scored better than SkyPlayer in this NWOTW highlight fixture, Slots Fired and their oppnents, league leaders, Alleviate the Tedium. Still, SkyPlayer remain the #1 Best-ish team tonight.
Peltier left bottom side AFC Chester floundering and took the opportunity to move up to second.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
SkyPlayerInFPL -v- Slots Fired – 3rd -v- 4th
We always like it when two opponents score well the week before they meet. These two both impressed in GW8, and next week will set up their first meeting in the BFFA. En garde!

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Shams army power on, now 7-1, thanks to goals and bonuses from Garnacho, Ndiaye and Wood.
Jaysokker slip up, Boudi’s Crew re-take second.
Harambe AND Jaysokker both lose by a single point, suffering from Andersen’s red and Areola’s (possibly unfairly assigned) own goal.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Shams Army -v- Boudi’s Crew1st -v- 2nd
Another top-of-the-table clash? Oh yeah! Gameweek 9 is always an exciting week.
Boudi’s Crew, who were top for the first three weeks of the season, will fight to reclaim the throne next weekend, kicking off Friday of course, and will be guaranteed to be number one if they win it thanks to a better FPts tally. But Shams army have been pretty phenomenal this season and that strength hasn’t abated. The two teams have both hauled in very similar scores over the last three weeks and this one really could go either way.

The Belyea Memorial Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup!
“Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms”
Everyone is a winner (except one).

In rememberance of a former BFFA manager, fantasy football hero, Liverpool fan, father and friend to many. We are grateful that he was a part of our league and touched so many lives.

The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

It was the lowest-scoring week of the season so far (35.7FPts average), but somehow De Bruyne Trousers still peaked with 62, rightfully take their leave. Twenty-nine go on.

The Big One

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150 million.
These teams must have no more than three players from the same PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season. This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

Last season The Big One was won by Prestige Worldwide, a subsidiary of The Premier League’s El Dude Bros, and The One Cup was won by Alleviate the Tedium.

This week’s top scorers:
#1) HLAB

On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. This week:

This week we’re going from one international ‘keeper to another and looking in on Liverpool and Ireland’s Caoimhin Kelleher. He’s been a busy boy over the last few weeks, minding the net in wins over Finland and Chelsea (but letting two past him against Greece).

Triangles are exactly mid-table (5/9) in the Liverpool Players league, behind Jota, Conor Bradley, Trent and Mo Salah. They suffered the extreme misfortune of collecting TWO red cards this week – Joachim Andersen and William Saliba – for negative six points, in a gameweek that saw five sendings off in total. His closest rival in The Hangers league, Mo Salah, captained himself for 2x 12FPts, while Caoimhin only had him as VC. Haaland (C) was much less effective. Triangles are going to have to do a bit of re-shuffling to remain competitve next week.
