Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Gloopy‘s winning run continues thanks to an unlikely Wissa goal just 23 seconds after kickoff against the Champions. Their game against the former PL Champions ended in a three-point victory.
• The current champions Housewives Favourites continue their good form with a third consecutive win, and it was a big win against the Champions League champions Sporting Wicker Park – just 2 points clear in a 102-point game.
Vanishing Spray FC also unbeaten since their Week One loss.
Route 57 FC move back into the top half with the score of the week.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Gloopy Yarbles -v- Route 57 FC – 1st v 5th
The Big Streak play the Big Scorers next weekend. Gloopy Yarbles’ lead at the top of the table hangs in the balance with Housewives Favourite just a win behind them in the league. Route 57 could find themselves anywhere between second and ninth this time next week, depending on their success and results elsewhere. Gloopy’s forward line are all playing away next weekend, while the three Arsenal 57ers are also away, but at a very dominant Manchester City.

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• The highest-scoring game of the week gave us our first 1v2 of the season, ie. the top two highest-scoring teams in the league faced each other, meaning that Bigger than Brolin‘s mighty 53 did not result in a win, only a mouthful of feathers. Diogo Jota coming off just seconds before 60:00 just made things worse.
• There is a new top two in the Championship today. IB Lausig coasted to an average-points win while Prelim storm up to first with that highscore.
ASG still have the highest points total in the league despite losing and dropping down to fifth.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Preliminary Version -v- IB Lausig – 1st v 2nd
No 100% records left in the Championship, and only two teams on 3-1 – Prem Version and IBL. The top two face off for control of the Championship on Saturday and on recent results, it looks like Prelim have the upper hand. The two have only played once before. That was in last season’s BFFA Cup Second Round; CG XI beat Web City 47-34.

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• The Haaland show kept Slots Fired on top, just. Scores from Bowen, Duran and Vardy were not enough to see off the monster.
• Alleviate the Tedium are also on a streak again. Their third win came with a dramatic come back from Watkins, Digne & co.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
East Loop United FC -v- AFC Chester – 4th v 10th
History is littered with ELU-AFC standoffs. The first two came in Seasons Three and Four where East Loop KO’d Chester out of the Cup in consecutive seasons. This weekend will be their 19th head-to-head, and the 17th in a league setting. They’ve both won eight against the other; ELU leading the scoring 705-659.
New season, new teams, new potential.

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• The narrowest win of the gameweek was sealed when, after the final whistle, Harvey Barnes was awarded two bonus points for his late game-winner away at Molyneux and stole the three points away from the league leaders. Jaysokker keep their 100% record alive, Boudi’s Crew get a horrible reminder of how cruel this game can be.
Shams Army also impress further with a fourth win from four. Last season they lost three consecutive times to Harambe Hotspur. Now they are building up for a top of the table tussle!
• Gabriel and Watkins both hitting double-figures? Doesn’t happen very often, but AI-JP hit the double-double, topscores L2.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Shams Army -v- Jaysokker – 1st v 2nd
Here’s another battle for another mountain peak, but this one’s even taller. Not only will the winner take clear control of the league, but they will improve their streak to five and become even more intimidating than they already are. Last season, both won two games against the other. The difference was that Jaysokker spent 34 weeks in the top half while the army spent just as long at the wrong end. Who’d have thought they’d be #’s 1 & 2 right now?

The Dynasty

From pointless to point-heavy, PM smashed it this week with three 20+’s and got themselves right off the bottom of the league. Peltier get their third straight and top the league after four.

The Belyea Memorial Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup!
“Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms”
Everyone is a winner (except one).

In rememberance of a former BFFA manager, fantasy football hero, Liverpool fan, father and friend to many. We are grateful that he was a part of our league and touched so many lives.

The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

This week:
We can all enjoy a neat little coincidence from time-to-time, and this one came on special day for Route 57 FC. With a score of 57, the Oxford boys are going out of the Belyea and going up in the League. Good times.

The Big One

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150 million.
These teams must have no more than three players from the same PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season. This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

Last season The Big One was won by Prestige Worldwide, a subsiduary of The Premier League’s El Dude Bros, and The One Cup was won by Alleviate the Tedium.

This week’s top scorers:
1) Rover Cowley FC – 69 Fantasy Points
2) Never N’Dyioubt – 68 FPts
3) De Bruyne Trousers – 61 FPts
=4) Lingardium Weviosa – 59 FPts
=4) The Ratty Guard Crew – 59 FPts

On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. This week, also coming out of the Mags league, we have the guy who assisted that spectacular final goal of the weekend – Joe Willock, or jdubz to his friends. Currently second in the Toon Army league and just eleven points above last week’s guest KTripz, Willock is having an impressive start to the season once again, that thigh injury aside of course.
Joe did include himself in Week One, but was replaced by Woolfenden after not featuring in that scrappy game against the Saints, and got dropped from the jdubz the week afterwards. Maybe after a goal and an assist in his last two games, he might re-sign himself. He burned his Wildcard this week to bring in Keane, Madueke, João Pedro and Kudus. Unfortunately, they collected a combined six fantasy points. Fortunately, captaining Haaland continues to make him look good!
