Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Even more drastic movements in the top flight this week. Big rises for HLAB and El Dude Bros after huge wins over their midtable rivals.
mighty Fine destroyed the World #1’s and are now guaranteed a top three place, prize money and Champions League action next season. 🎉
Vanishing Spray move out of the (automatic) relegation zone ahead of a very important game against the 7th-placed Smash & Grab, who are level on points with them tonight.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Vanishing Spray FC -v- Smash & Grab ► 8th -v- 7th
GW5: 26 – 48 // GW14: 54 – 39 // GW23: 46 – 20

😬 The Run-In 🕔🕓🕒🕑🕐
We already know that Gloopy Yarbles and mighty Fine are guaranteed top three places and entry into the Champions League Group Stage. It looks likely that they will be joined by Housewives Favourite in third, but the chasing pack are numerous and within reach. The next two weeks will make the divide much clearer.

Of course, there is also a route into the Champions League through the Qualifying Round, open to the team that finishes fourth. Given that there are six teams within one win of holding fourth place (and as ninth-placed R57 are the highest-scoring of those six), it really is all up for grabs. On the other side of that nasty coin – one of them will have to suffer relegation next month, maybe two or three if Sporting Wicker Park can make up the deficit.

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Preliminary Version win an absolute barnburner against Bigger than Brolin. Livramento and Barnes combined to score 19 for BtB in the final game, but Schär (10) and Trippier (6) did enough to hold on.
IB Lausig become the sixth team to top the Championship this season thanks to a two goals in ten minutes from Jacob Murphy in the Monday night game. Murphy had also bagged a brace against Leicester in December.
Uncle Monty were reduced to nine men with Nketiah (78′) and van Hecke (90+6′) seeing red at Selhurst Park. Whiskey De Bruyne‘s triumph over 8th-placed Monty and GoFYS‘s victory over first-place ATC means that neither got relegated this week, but they still have a small mountain to climb if they’re going to reach that finger ledge before GW36. The pair face off next weekend!

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
IB Lausig -v- Preliminary Version ► 1st -v- 4th
GW5: 33 – 50 // GW14: 40 – 30 // GW23: 51 – 32

😬 The Run-In 🕔🕓🕒🕑🕐
It looks like the top four will be fighting over Champions League places for the remainder of the season, but that’s not to say that Barons and ASG can’t also get back in the mix. The two former leaders have it in them to capitalise on any slip-ups from above, but they’ll have to change their fortunes quite drastically. Preliminary Version may have the toughest run-in, they face all three of the teams above them over the final five weeks.

Things are starting to look bleak for the Whiskey De Bruyne and GoFYS FC, and time is not on their side. However, if either of them can take three points from next weekend’s double-gameweek, and Uncle Monty lose to ASG again, then a comeback could be on the cards.

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Agonisingly, Peltier missed out on another grand slam by a single point! The deciding game ended in a draw (admittedly a low-scoring draw), and Flekken watched on from the bench with a potential game-winning 10.
And how often do you see the top two meeting and failing to produce a winner? Metz Sels was the saviour for Alleviate the Tedium this week, coming off the bench with exactly enough saves (6) to keep Peltier from increasing their lead at the top. The title chase rages on.
A big week for the teams fighting for third (or rather, chasing down second). All three had huge wins, including a massive 69 for AFC Chester who have won 11 from their last 12.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Slots Fired -v- The Phenoms ► 5th -v- 3rd
GW5: 35 – 41 // GW14: 33 – 35 // GW23: 44 – 56

😬 The Run-In 🕔🕓🕒🕑🕐
Twelve points clear of third place, Peltier will be promoted next week if they get a better result than The Phenoms. In fact even if they both win, with a hefty 290 fantasy points advantage, it seems impossible that the Best-ish #1 team can be pulled out of the promotion places.

The second promotion place could go to one of four teams, relatively evenly matched. The Phenoms have a very difficult next three weeks – against the two (better-scoring) teams immediately below them and then Peltier in GW34 (in what could be the day they take the title), not to mention incoming double-gameweeks and blank gameweeks to navigate.

And don’t presume that we’re writing off SkyPlayerInFPL here. Oh no. Last season they won all of their last seven games and climbed three places into second. It may be too late to sneak into the automatic promotion places this season, but the playoff place is still attainable, especially for a team that still has the bottom two to play.

Unfortunately for Goleta and StillluvQPR, relegation is imminent. The next time they drop points, or ELU win or draw, they are doomed to the fourth tier.

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Sham’s Army comfortably see off 10th-placed Harambe, go nine points clear!
Tino’s Legacy pulled something special out of the bag this week and beat AI-Jiggery-Pokery by a clear 53 points. They are now just two points from second place and 29 matchpoints short of Boudi’s current total. This could be tight!
Partey Time stole a low-scoring three points from BattleVAR and continue their push for the CL Qualifying place.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Sporting KhilMaan -v- Tino’s Legacy ► 6th -v- 3rd
GW5: 57 – 41 // GW14: 24 – 70 // GW23: 27 – 57

😬 The Run-In 🕔🕓🕒🕑🕐
So the top of the table has been completely reshaped over the last couple of months. It is now Shams Army running away with it and could be promoted next week if results go their way. Boudi’s Crew and Tino’s Legacy are embroiled in a tussle for second. It is currently looking like the loser of that battle will have to face either East Loop United or Borussia Teeth for the right to play in League One next season.

Although a 10-point gap at this stage isn’t impossible to overcome, it does look like the top three are likely to remain unchallenged by the rest. That means that there are five or six teams competing for that Champions League place. Also, as has happened several times before, fourth place in League Two is also well-placed for a promotion when teams above retire from the BFFA. So, it’s a valuable position to fight for.

Whoever does get that fourth position will be playing Champions League football in the postseason, and then the following four will be going into the IML qualifiers. So the teams finishing 5th – 8th will get a shot at qualifying for the Intramural League in the final two weeks of the season, and it is looking like being the last IML we hold, so well-worth scrapping for. BattleVAR can get back in the mix with their high matchpoint total, but will need a change of form to catch AI-JP. That could begin next week as the two face off.

Dynasty League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Tino’s Legacy and TrevAI move up one place and intensify the fight for the money places.
Peltier win again and increase their matchpoints differential over Tino’s Leg.
Gloopy Yarbles made a statement with a huge score and prepare to take on bubble boys TrevAI next weekend.

🫣 Next Week’s One to Watch:
Haven’t Jota Clue -v- Peltier ► 5th -v- 2nd
GW5: 83 – 138.75 // GW14: 139 – 98.75 // GW23: 128.75 – 128

😬 The Run-In 🕖🕕🕔🕓🕒🕑🕐
There is a lot more on offer in the Dynasty League as there is no postseason, so this runs all the way through to GW38. This means that with 21 points available, the divide between the two halves can still be quashed, RW Barefoot can be caught, and Gloopy Yarbles could still make the prize places. (Almost) anything is possible!

The Belyea Memorial Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup!
“Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms”
Everyone is a winner (except one).

In rememberance of a former BFFA manager, fantasy football hero, Liverpool fan, father and friend to many. We are grateful that he was a part of our league and touched so many lives.

The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week (at least) one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

This week the Championship’s bottom side took three points from the league leaders, and escape the Belyea with a score of 36.
5 remain.

Remaining:5 teams
Partey Time FC (27 FPts)
Sporting Wicker Park (32)
StillluvQPR (34)
Vanishing Spray FC (30)
Whiskey De Bruyne (31)
(GW31 scores in brackets)

The Big One

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football
that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150 million.
These teams must have no more than three players from the same PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).
Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season.
This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

Last season The Big One was won by Prestige Worldwide, a subsidiary of The Premier League’s El Dude Bros, and The One Cup was won by Alleviate the Tedium.
This season’s One Cup begins Gameweek 34 (Saturday 26th April).
Fixtures will be determined at the end of Gameweek 33.
Some teams will receive a bye in Gameweek 34 based on their score in GW33.

1) Gnonto Seed
72 Fantasy Points

2) Kinder Mbuemo
65 FPts

=3) Lingardium Weviosa
60 FPts

=3) Peltier
60 FPts

5) De Bruyne Trousers
59 FPts

Postseason

The postseason is now on the horizon, and as we approach it, we will give you more and more details as the landscape takes shape.

The final two weeks of the season will offer every team something to play for. Your final league position (after GW36), and any appearances in the Finals of the CL/IML/Cup, will determine which of these mini-tournaments you can compete in.

What you can see above is that the four League Champions will go into a pool for the bonus Champions of Champions title. They will also face the Champions League winners (Gloopy Yarbles) and the BFFA Cup winners too.

The teams finishing second and third will play in a two-week Runners-Up pool. They will be joined by the CL runners-up, the BFFA Cup runners-up and the IML winners.

Going into next season’s Champions League will be:
⚽ The top three teams from each league,
⚽ The Champions League holders (Gloopy Yarbles)
⚽ The BFFA Cup winners (TBC)
⚽ Plus two more from the Champions League Qualifiers.

The CLQ‘s are set to feature the four fourth-placed teams. They will be paired off into 2x two-legged play-off matches, the winners of which will qualify for the 2025 CL.

The Champions League winners are also going to finish in the top three of the Premier League, therefore we will need a reserve to fill in the gap. The topscoring fourth-placed finisher will automatically be entered into the 2025CL First Round, and a place in the CLQ will go to the highest-scoring team that hasn’t yet qualified. (See the reserve list in the graphic above).

Should the BFFA Cup winners also finish in the top four in their league, then another CLQ place will become available for one of our reservists.

Next season’s Intramural League actually begins in GW37 with the four teams in each league who finish 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. The postseason will have a knockout for each league to put one team through to the Quarter-Finals next season.

And there will be another wooden spoon tournament this season too. The bottom two teams from each league will be put into a pool in GW37; the two lowest-scoring sides will play in a GW38 final where the loser gets the spoon.

Finally, there will also be the excitement of the Playoffs. After GW36, the top two go up and the bottom two go down. The third-best and third-worst of neighbouring leagues will fight across two gameweeks for the right to take the final promotion/survival place. The previous playoff results can be found on the Competitions page.

Hopefully that explains the basics of the postseason. There may be some overlaps in the mini-tourneys, for example – if the CL winners (Gloopy Yarbles) finish in the top four (quite likely), then a reserve will be needed to fill the space in next season’s Champions League Draw. That reserve place will go to the highest-scoring team that hasn’t yet qualified for the Champions League, so keep an eye on the best-ish table towards the end of Gameweek 36 for potential new entrants.

Of course, you won’t need to look at the league tables on the app after GW36, but the Best-ish tournament will rage on until the end of GW38, so keep trading, signing and setting your teams right through to the end.

I think that’s all for now.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the season!
