Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
For the second time in three weeks, the league leaders have come a cropper to a team in the relegation zone. And with the two teams above them both drawing their games, Sporting Wicker Park are even closer to safety.
A draw for Vanishing Spray keeps them one point above the relegation melee, but caused El Dude to drop down into an unhappy play-off place. A somewhat unnecessary four minutes of Kevin De Bruyne prevented George Hirst’s injury time consolation goal from giving Spray the win, but a superb 11 from Dalot (also appearing for VSFC in Dynasty) outscored Vardy by just enough to take a point from 9-man El Dude
Route 57 FC beat the defending champions for the first time this season and join the fray with a strong FPts total. Next they have a six-pointer (one of many next month) against sixth-placed Vanishing Spray.

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
The clash at the top has generated a new leader in the Championship; Atletico Topo Chico become the fifth and latest team to take control of the league and come out of the season unbeaten against De Bruyne Trousers (W3, D1).
IB Lausig and Preliminary Version slide three points north of fifth and two points closer to automatic promotion. Jake O’Brien signed for IBL late on Saturday morning in the hope of keeping a clean sheet, but instead of doing that he scored Everton’s injury time equaliser. Prelim made five transfers this gameweek, dropping two Chelsea defenders before their fruitless trip to Arsenal and signing De Ligt in time for United’s 3-0 win away at Leicester.
10-man GoFys replace Whiskey De Bruyne in ninth place, putting together back-to-back wins for just the third time this season, and took three points off Barons at the fourth time of asking.

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Peltier‘s march up the leagues continues with a two-point win over a disintegrating Slots Fired. Nine-man Peltier outdid Haaland (7 FPts) and Leno (13) to go to seven straight wins and eight clear at the top.
The race for promotion heats up with Alleviate the Tedium losing by a point to their closest rivals. The Phenoms, or rather Bruno Fernandes (17 FPts), blew away AtT in a game where both teams failed to field a full side.
• East Loop United took an important step towards escaping the drop zone by narrowly seeing off last place StillluvQPR. With Ederson unavailable for the game against Brighton, Sánchez filled in and scored three matchpoints, just enough to cover Janelt’s own goal and one point (for his four saves) to take the win. Stillluv also suffered an own goal from Khusanov; that -2 being the difference between climbing to ninth and remaining bottom.

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Incredibly, despite scoring only 12 points from a full side, Shams Army found themselves hitting the jackpot when their opponents presented only 5 men to challenge. The Liverpool-heavy Sporting KhilMaan, still eagerly awaiting the return of Füllkrug, Saka and Cunha, barely managed double-figures with three yellow cards and a late appearance for Maddison, while the re-instated leaders only had one player score more than a deuce – midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi (3 FPts), who was subbed off just two minutes before Ipswich found the net and claimed a crucial clean sheet point.
Boudi’s Crew fell to Tino’s Legacy for the first time in a Saturday afternoon goalfest. The (then) league leaders collected all three goals from the So’ton/Wolves game, but Tino’s Legacy, also gunning for promotion, struck gold with Elanga and Milenkovic both finding the net in a 4-2 thriller in East Anglia. Bonuses from Haaland and Timber further improved their score and took them over 50 points.
• Partey Time hindered Jaysokker again, allowing them to catchup with their opponents in fourth place. That Champions League qualifying spot looks like it will be contested be as many as six teams going into the run-in.
Another of those Champions League hopefuls will BattleVAR Galactico who leaped over their opponents Flubbing Yanks after a comfortable 12-point victory.

Dynasty League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Vanishing Spray have become the first team to record 500 games in the BFFA, and they wrapped up #500 in spectacular fashion. Going into the final match of the weekend, Spray needed 17 from Dalot and Bruno to triumph over title-challengers Tino’s Leg. They ended up gaining a massive 64 FPts from United’s trip to Leicester, and further narrowed the gap to fifth.
Rot-Weiss Barefoot go to double figures with their milestone tenth consecutive win, proving that they don’t need Salah to win games (although it does help a lot). Next up they face Vanishing Spray who, despite losing all three games to RWB so far, are also on a hot run of form – six wins from their last seven.
Peltier up to third thanks to a big win over TrevAI who were level on points. It came down to the final day with both sides having players to come, but Lindelof, Garnacho and Robinson before them scored in the high teens to make it a comfortable victory. With Tino’s Legacy’s loss to Spray, the win moves Peltier back upto third.

The Belyea Memorial Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup!
“Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms”
Everyone is a winner (except one).

In rememberance of a former BFFA manager, fantasy football hero, Liverpool fan, father and friend to many. We are grateful that he was a part of our league and touched so many lives.

The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

It was a difficult weekend for a lot of teams, juggling blanks with the promise of double gameweeks to come. Harder still for the lower-placed teams who were invested in clubs like Palace & Villa who did not feature due to their opponents going on a fun day out to Wembley.

Nevertheless, Harambe Hotspur managed to squeeze an impressive 48 matchpoints out of the slimish pickings, even without a goalkeeper! Cristian Romero got off the grass about six minutes before Spurs conceded, so he collected clean sheet points; Mr. Andersen also got a +4 from the same fixture, although he went through the whole ninety minutes to get his clean sheet. Bruno Fernandes was obviously the standout player of the week, and his 17 at the end of the gameweek made Harambe clearly the bestish of the restish.

Remaining:7 teams
East Loop United FC (35 FPts)
GoFYSFC (36)
Partey Time FC (27)
Sporting Wicker Park (39)
StillluvQPR (34)
Vanishing Spray FC (35)
Whiskey De Bruyne (10)

The Big One

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football
that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150 million.

These teams must have no more than three players from the same PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season.
This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

Last season The Big One was won by Prestige Worldwide, a subsidiary of The Premier League’s El Dude Bros, and The One Cup was won by Alleviate the Tedium.

Postseason

The postseason is now on the horizon, and as we approach it, we will give you more and more details as the landscape takes shape.

The final two weeks of the season will offer every team something to play for. Your final league position (after GW36), and any appearances in the Finals of the CL/IML/Cup, will determine which of these mini-tournaments you can compete in.

What you can see above is that the four League Champions will go into a pool for the bonus Champions of Champions title. They will also face the Champions League winners (Gloopy Yarbles) and the BFFA Cup winners too.

The teams finishing second and third will play in a two-week Runners-Up pool. They will be joined by the CL runners-up, the BFFA Cup runners-up and the IML winners.

Going into next season’s Champions League will be:
⚽ The top three teams from each league,
⚽ The Champions League holders (Gloopy Yarbles)
⚽ The BFFA Cup winners (TBC)
⚽ Plus two more from the Champions League Qualifiers.

The CLQ‘s are set to feature the four fourth-placed teams. They will be paired off into 2x two-legged play-off matches, the winners of which will qualify for the 2025 CL.

The Champions League winners are also going to finish in the top three of the Premier League, therefore we will need a reserve to fill in the gap. The topscoring fourth-placed finisher will automatically be entered into the 2025CL First Round, and a place in the CLQ will go to the highest-scoring team that hasn’t yet qualified. (See the reserve list in the graphic above).

Should the BFFA Cup winners also finish in the top four in their league, then another CLQ place will become available for one of our reservists.

Next season’s Intramural League actually begins in GW37 with the four teams in each league who finish 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. The postseason will have a knockout for each league to put one team through to the Quarter-Finals next season.

And there will be another wooden spoon tournament this season too. The bottom two teams from each league will be put into a pool in GW37; the two lowest-scoring sides will play in a GW38 final where the loser gets the spoon.

Finally, there will also be the excitement of the Playoffs. After GW36, the top two go up and the bottom two go down. The third-best and third-worst of neighbouring leagues will fight across two gameweeks for the right to take the final promotion/survival place. The previous playoff results can be found on the Competitions page.

Hopefully that explains the basics of the postseason. There may be some overlaps in the mini-tourneys, for example – if the CL winners (Gloopy Yarbles) finish in the top four (quite likely), then a reserve will be needed to fill the space in next season’s Champions League Draw. That reserve place will go to the highest-scoring team that hasn’t yet qualified for the Champions League, so keep an eye on the best-ish table towards the end of Gameweek 36 for potential new entrants.

Of course, you won’t need to look at the league tables on the app after GW36, but the Best-ish tournament will rage on until the end of GW38, so keep trading, signing and setting your teams right through to the end.

I think that’s all for now.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the season!
