That’s the end of the third set.
There will be just one more game against each league opponent before the regular season ends and we enter the postseason.

Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Smash & Grab caused Housewives Favourites to lose their #2 spot after they had held it since Gameweek 3! Smash picked up a couple of costly yellow cards and lost Emi Martinez at half-time, presumably to injury, and both teams had 3-pointers next in line on the bench. But it ended all square.
HLAB got an important win over the runaway league leaders, and with the topscore in the PL this week. It was not just the first time they’d beaten Gloopy this season, but the first time in ten matches; their last win over the Yarbles was a Cup QF in Season 7.
• With Sporting Wicker Park stubbornly holding off Vanishing Spray, both they and HLAB are now three points closer to escaping the drop zone.
mighty Fine hit another half-century and took the opportunity to move up into second place. What’s more, they find themselves three points closer to the top, albeit with time quickly running out.
Gloopy Yarbles (W21, L6) are today safe from relegation 🎉

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• We do try to avoid highlighting the bad news here, but unfortunately nothing stands out as much as a three place drop. Struggling Whiskey De Bruyne desperately need a lot of fortune if they’re going to save their season, and they will be hoping that it starts here. A big win for them over third-placed Barons, but still a long way to go.
ATC came out on top in a 100-pt matchup against Uncle Monty. The away side left Neco Williams on the bench in a difficult game against the Arsenal where he would have earned nine points.
• The league leaders competed for League One last season with Preliminary Version, where they won the first two and lost the third. That WWL progression repeated itself in the Championship this week. This defeat wasn’t as heavy as the 78-48 rout in GW21 last year, but it did cause ripples at the top of the table. The gap at the top closes to one point; the gap back to Prelim down to seven.
IB Lausig sind nicht so lausig these days. Back into the prize money, 9-1-1 in the last eleven.

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• As with Gloopy Yarbles in the Prem, Peltier and Alleviate the Tedium are now officially safe from the drop 🎉
• You will also notice that Peltier, having won nine of their last eleven, are back up into first place. The Phenoms moved up a place too in the L1 re-shuffle with a third consecutive victory over StillluvQPR.
AFC Chester stormed the BFFA this week, topscoring with 63, and got themselves out of The Belyea. They beat Alleviate the Tedium 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller (à la Toon v Forest) and move two points closer to fifth.
SkyPlayer finally got a point out of Slots Fired (D1, L2) and like Smash & Grab in the Prem, the substitution of Oxford United great Emi Martinez prevented them from snatching the win. SkyPlayer may also feel unlucky on the bonus points system as Gabriel and Welbeck were a single BPS point shy of gaining an extra BP for the win.
The Phenoms and Slots Fired tying for third place, separated by only two matchpoints.

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Boudi’s Crew immediately returned to the top of the league with a narrow win over their rivals. Marc Cucurella was signed off the waivers to replace Huijsen and returned the honour by scoring them 15FPts. Agonisingly for Shams Army, they had Calafiori taken off at half-time, denying them another clean sheet. They also saw him hit the post in the first half and get booked early on, and they too couldn’t use Neco Williams off the bench with his nine. It’s a cruel game sometimes.
• It seems like Jaysokker keep finding themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. A score of 47 was enough for Flubbing Yanks and BattleVAR to win this week, also enough to win the other two games, but Jaysokker found themselves outplayed by bottom side Harambe, scoring 50 points for just the second time this season.
Tino’s Legacy got a first win in four games by soundly beating Partey Time. The Part-Timers had ended Tino’s 6-game win streak last time they met, but couldn’t repeat the win this week despite Ismaïla Sarr netting twice at home to Villa. They remain stuck on 39 points alongside SKM & AIJP.

Dynasty League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Unusually for us, there were no matchups within ten points of each other. Gloopy Yarbles looked like launching a comebak on Thursday with Scarles and Bowen taking to the field, but Bowen’s goal was converted to a Vestergaard own goal and Scarles saw too little action too make an impression.
• The two games within the top five both ended up in comfortable 40-pt wins. Barefoot maintain their three-point lead at the top and Tino’s Legacy closed up on Peltier with an important win over their rivals.
Waikauri Bay‘s top score was a huge win for them in a high-scoring game. They leapfrog their opponents up to eighth.

The Belyea Memorial Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup!
“Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms”
Everyone is a winner (except one).

In rememberance of a former BFFA manager, fantasy football hero, Liverpool fan, father and friend to many. We are grateful that he was a part of our league and touched so many lives.

The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

We don’t often get to say this but… this week’s number 1 also takes the Belyea this week! AFC Chester topped the scoring with 63 matchpoints, a clear 13 points better than their nearest competitors Harambe Hotspur.

Remaining:10 teams
Bigger Than Brolin (48 FPts)
East Loop United FC (34)
GoFYSFC (33)
Harambe Hotspur (50)
Partey Time FC (37)

The Big One

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football
that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150 million.

These teams must have no more than three players from the same PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season.
This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

Last season The Big One was won by Prestige Worldwide, a subsidiary of The Premier League’s El Dude Bros, and The One Cup was won by Alleviate the Tedium.

Postseason

The postseason is now on the horizon, and as we approach it, we will give you more and more details as the landscape takes shape.

The final two weeks of the season will offer every team something to play for. Your final league position (after GW36), and any appearances in the Finals of the CL/IML/Cup, will determine which of these mini-tournaments you can compete in.

What you can see above is that the four League Champions will go into a pool for the bonus Champions of Champions title. They will also face the Champions League winners (Gloopy Yarbles) and the BFFA Cup winners too.

The teams finishing second and third will play in a two-week runners-up pool. They will be joined by the CL runners-up, the BFFA Cup runners-up and the IML winners.

Going into next season’s Champions League will be:
⚽ The top three teams from each league,
⚽ The Champions League holders (Gloopy Yarbles)
⚽ The BFFA Cup winners (TBC)
⚽ Plus two more from the Champions League Qualifiers.
The CLQ’s are set to feature the four fourth-placed teams. They will be paired off into 2x two-legged play-off matches, the winners of which will qualify for the 2025 CL.

Next season’s Intramural League actually begins in GW37 with the four teams in each league who finish 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. The postseason will have a knockout for each league to put one team through to the Quarter-Finals next season.

And there will be another wooden spoon tournament this season too. The bottom two teams from each league will be put into a pool in GW37; the two lowest-scoring sides will play in a GW38 final where the loser gets the spoon.

Finally, there will also be the excitement of the Playoffs. After GW36, the top two go up and the bottom two go down. The third-best and third-worst of neighbouring leagues will fight across two gameweeks for the right to take the final promotion/survival place. The previous playoff results can be found on the Competitions page.

Hopefully that explains the basics of the postseason. There may be some overlaps in the mini-tourneys, for example – if the CL winners (Gloopy Yarbles) finish in the top four (quite likely), then a reserve will be needed to fill the space in next season’s Champions League Draw. That reserve place will go to the highest-scoring team that hasn’t yet qualified for the Champions League, so keep an eye on the best-ish table towards the end of Gameweek 36 for potential new entrants.

Of course, you won’t need to look at the league tables on the app after GW36, but the Best-ish tournament will rage on until the end of GW38, so keep trading, signing and setting your teams right through to the end.

I think that’s all for now.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the season!
