Gameweek 2

Teams of the Week:
All Star Gunners & Gnonto Seed
66 points

Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• The One to Watch didn’t disappoint, another 100-pt game went the way of the defending Premier League Champions, Housewives Favourite.
• Smash & Grab edge out the league’s topscoring team by just two matchpoints.
• Gloopy Yarbles go top after winning the Champions League Final rematch.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Gloopy Yarbles -v- Gnonto Seed – 1st v 5th
Last season: 53-20; 32-49; 28-24; 55-34
The league leaders take their unbeaten record to Gnonto Seed, the top-topscorers of this young season (66FPts last weekend). This will be the seventh straight season that the two have faced-off, and it’s a close call all-time – Gloopy have won 12, Gnonto won 10, zero drawn. Gloopy won three of their encounters last season and finished third in the league; had they won all four, Gloopy would’ve won the title. The Premier League is that tight!

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Two GW1-winning teams met and drew, 28-all.
• Only All Star Gunners retain a 100% record.
ASG play and win their 400th match in the BFFA. Totalling 13,983 matchpoints, they are set to break through 14k next week.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Preliminary Version -v- All Star Gunners – 5th v 1st
Last season: First meeting
All eyes will once again be on ASG to see if they can keep their 100% record against Preliminary Version, the team with the highest losing score so far. It’s been a fiery start from both teams. You can expect to see Haaland and Bowen against 5 (five) Tottenham Hotshots that returned a collective 48 fantasy points last weekend.
Meanwhile on the other channel, look out for updates on the first De Bruyne Derby of the season.

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Lots of big wins in League One last weekend. A 20-pt win, a 26-pt win and a 34-point thrashing.
• Three teams above the 100-point mark after two games.
• Still no sign of SkyPlayer‘s winning streak ending.

🫣 The One to Watch:
East Loop United FC -v- SkyPlayerInFPL – 8th v 1st
Last season: First meeting
The League Two runners-up, SkyPlayerInFPL, stole the automatic promotion space with a phenomenal run of seven consecutive wins at the back end of last season. That glorious momentum was not interrupted by the summer break; they’ve begun the season at full speed and are on the verge of making it 10 wins-in-a-row. Trying to prevent them achieving that feat, East Loop United are hoping to get themselves away from the wrong end of the table.

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• All five games were reasonably close this weekend, there were no double-figure wins anywhere in League Two.
• Three teams earn back-to-back wins – Boudi’s Crew, Sham’s Army and Jaysokker – and make up the top three tonight.
• Fourth-placed BattleVAR Galactico completed their 200th BFFA match this weekend. Unfortunately, they couldn’t celebrate the milestone with a win, but they remain in the top half with another good scoring week.
Sporting KhilMaan unlucky again, placed eighth despite having 4th-best total.

🫣 The One to Watch: BFFA Match #8,000!
Jaysokker -v- AI-Jiggery-Pokery – 3rd v 6th
This is the first meeting between the well-established Jaysokker and rookies AI-JP, and this matchup has landed in the #8000 slot. What can we expect to see in this milestone? Well, we think this is going to be a tasty standoff if for no other reason than the fact that they were adjacent picks in the Draft. We saw Palmer taken over Watkins, followed by Gordon going one spot before Bowen. One has to wonder how many times each manager swore at the other as their next best pick was stolen away, and more importantly, how much each coach fears playing the players they wanted.

How we think it’s going to go – AI’s Defence (worth 31FPts in GW1) will have to outplay Jaysokker’s midfield (worth 37FPts in GW2) if they are going to get the big game win. The linchpin looks like being the face-off between Bowen and Akanji & Ruben Dias on Saturday evening.

Dynasty

Tino’s Legacy emerge as early league favourites, but Commissioner-led Peltier topscoring so far (despite drafting from tenth). Top two play each other next weekend; the winner will be the lone remaining 100%-er at the international break.

The updated World Rankings! – August

The first World Rankings update of the season is up and, of course, it brings our five new squads into the forum. Everyone starts at 1000.00 points, so they are understandably low down in the rankings while they find their feet and settle in, but once they are up-and-running you can expect to see some, or maybe all, of them shooting up the table, especially when the BFFA Cup gets underway in January.

The Belyea Memorial Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup!
“Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms”
Everyone is a winner (except one).

In rememberance of a former BFFA manager, fantasy football hero, Liverpool fan, father and friend to many. We are grateful that he was a part of our league and touched so many lives.

The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

This week:
Amazingly, for the second week in a row, we have TWO topscorers and these guys went one better with a score of 66. Today we show All Star Gunners and Gnonto Seed to the door.
See ya back here again next season.
36 remain; a long way to go yet.

The Big One

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150 million.
These teams must have no more than three players from the same PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season. This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

Last season The Big One was won by Prestige Worldwide, a subsiduary of The Premier League’s El Dude Bros, and The One Cup was won by Alleviate the Tedium.

This week’s top scorers:
1) Alleviate the Tedium – 102 Fantasy Points
2) Whatsa Maatsen You – 101 Fantasy Points
3) De Bruyne Trousers – 99 FPts
4) Prestige Worldwide – 98 FPts
5) Allison Wonderland – 90 FPts

On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. This week, Liverpool’s highly sought-after right-back/assist-creator Trent Alexander-Arnold has joined the fray this season with a very strong showing. One of the many who triple-captained that man Haaland this weekend Trent and lallana del rey are top of the Liverpool Players & Staff league. To his credit, TAA also backed himself, Mo Salah and Diogo Jota, but foresaw big things for the big City number nine, and his gamble paid off.
