The Big One
It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150,000,000. These teams must have no more than three players from any PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).
Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season – two Wildcards, a Bench Boost, a Free Hit and Triple Captain points. This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.
This final week’s top scorers:
Gloopy Yarbles – 105 Fantasy Points
Hung Like a Bony – 91 FPts
The Phenoms – 85 FPts
Smoky Bacon Athletic – 82 FPts
Goleta Hotspur – 76 FPts
On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we were also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. Over the course of the season, we have shone the spotlight on no less than 42 footballing celebrities – players, managers, presenters, pundits, musicians, comedians and FPL stars. This week, we’ve added Jason Steele in his return to the starting line-up. Unfortunately it wasn’t a happy occasion for Brighton, but at least Captain OS didn’t finish bottom of our celebrity challengers league.
We’ve seen current players starting themselves, benching themselves, backing their teammates, even captaining Haaland before facing him for real on the hallowed turf. He is pretty intimidating after all!
We’ve seen Championship players trying out their management skills, non-league players having a go, players in Italy, America and Azerbaijan. We’ve seen Chesney Hawkes overtake (one of) his sons and the FPL’s own presenters battling it out.
But when it came down to it, we were all beaten out by two extraordinary real-life football minds – Bournemouth’s Hjadmal Erkal and the recently-promoted James Justin of Leicester City, who finished 1,583rd overall. Nothing short of impressive! We will try and re-discover his FPL team next season…
🎉⚽🎉⚽ Congratulations to (our) Prestige Worldwide. 🎉⚽🎉⚽
Top of the League and a massive 65 points clear of the competition!
The One Cup
Going almost completely unnoticed(!), the One Cup™ has been quietly conducting itself in the background of the FPL website. Starting in Gameweek 34 and hidden behind a tiny link on the league page, the twenty teams played knockout fantasy football until just one team remained unbeaten.
