Season 10 – The Final League Tables

The results are in!

And that’s it, the League season is over.
The four League Champions have been crowned, six teams promoted, fourteen teams confirmed for the Champions League and fourteen more going to the IML Qualifiers.

Unlike most other sports, the season doesn’t end here for some. In the BFFA, everybody is involved in the postseason. Check out the Postseason Preview for next week’s fixtures.

Here are the final league results this season:

Team of the Week:
Alleviate the tedium (2nd time)
81 Points

Premier League

League Champions: Housewives Favourite

Runners-Up: Route 57 FC

Qualified for 2024 CL: Housewives Favourite, Route 57 FC,
Gloopy Yarbles, Sporting Wicker Park

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
What a finale!
Wives Fave nearly slipped up. Earned a draw which was all the needed to claim the Premier League Title!
Five seasons, five league titles, plus so much more. Champion of Champions title to defend starting next weekend.
• Big winners Route 57 FC who climbed a place every week in the last three, finishing off in second.
Smash & Grab unfortunately got caught and hard. Fell out of the top three and into a CLQ match. Gloopy Yarbles regained their form of old and take the bronze medal.

Championship

League Champions: Hung Like a Bony

Runners-Up: Vanishing Spray FC

Qualified for 2024 CL: Hung Like a Bony, Vanishing Spray, Cullen the herd

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• The top three all win, Spray and Cullen complete whitewashes over the bottom two.
• Both of the top two made it their mission to triumph this weekend and both rode to victory in style. Unfortunately for Spray, Hung were already a nose ahead and retained the #1 place as they crossed the line.
Cullen the herd also refused to let their place go by winning comfortably and clinching the playoff berth. An instant return to the Premier League awaits if they can beat MFF twice more before the season is over.
GoFys win over ASG to improve their route through the IMLQ’s, but also to leave them agonisingly close fourth place and thoughts of what could’ve been.

League One

League Champions: Uncle Monty BFF

Runners-Up: De Bruyne Trousers

Qualified for 2024 Champions League:
Uncle Monty BFF, De Bruyne Trousers, Whiskey De Bruyne, StillluvQPR

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Twelve weeks of the lead being passed back and forth between Uncle Monty and De Bruyne Trousers ended with one final handover – Uncle Monty lunged forward with the league’s topscore of the week and capitalised on DBT’s loss in the De Bruyne Derby.
• The Top 4 looks awfully reminiscent of Season 9’s League Two final table. Uncle Monty claim another league title, DBT improve to second, WdB finish third and CG XI a little way back in fourth, again.
East Loop United overtake Peltier thanks to four goals from you-know-who. StillluvQPR continue their great scoring record which left Chicken and Bane San to get stuck in the eighth place hole.

League Two

League Champions: Goleta Hotspur

Runners-Up: SkyPlayerInFPL

Qualified for 2024 Champions League:
Goleta Hotspur, SkyPlayerInFPL, Alleviate the Tedium

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
An INCREDIBLE end to the fourth tier. Although the title was already claimed, the three teams fighting for second place all took it to the wire.
• And it was SkyPlayer who won the race with a huge win over Goleta Hotspur at the last leg. Despite looking like midtable no-hopers at the halfway point of the season, some superb management by them turned their debut season from nothing into a profitable success. Danger awaits those who face them in the future.
Alleviate the Tedium close out with the score of the week, an almighty score that almost challenged the season’s best.
The Phenoms were left unable to improve their position by the wins of those above them. Maybe on a different week things would have gone differently, but for now they have the chance to qualify for the Champions League next season and will be in line for an off-season promotion should anyone decide to retire from the League.

Playoffs

Mighty fine feeling -v- Cullen the herd
8th, Premier League -v– 3rd, Championship

Mighty fine feeling have played Cullen the herd every year since 2018. They have met in fifteen Premier League games, eight Champions League matches one BFFA Cup clash. They have scored over 1,000 points against each other (1,089 to 1,007) and have a close record against each other. MFF have won 13 of 24, but none were as important as these next two will be.
After some hesitation and best intentions, Cullen the herd took a “voluntary” step down into the Championship and the playoffs offer them a route back to their rightful place in the Premier League. However, if they were to succeed in their objective, it would be at the cost of the former Premier League Champions. As a third-placed team Cullen would be favoured to win, as the higher-scoring team, but MFF have won 7 of their last 11 and could put up a fight for that place in the top flight.
Last season Route 57 kept their place in the Premier League via the playoffs. They have just finished as runners-up, and just two points short of reclaiming the crown.

Atletico Topo Chico -v- Whiskey De Bruyne
8th, Championship -v- 3rd, League One

It’s a small world isn’t it?! Having not crossed paths before, they’ve played each other three times this season in non-league competition, and now they’re meeting again for the prize of upper-league status.
After both finishing second and third in their respective leagues last season, ATC and WdB were drawn into the same group in the first round of the Champions League. They took a win each, but neither progressed to the Quarter-Finals.
They did however both progress to the Third Round of the BFFA Cup after the new year, and there they met again. Atletico won the knockout 45-43 thanks to Núñez’s game-winning goal in a 1-0 away win over Forest. ATC’s cup dreams were short-lived though as they were knocked out by league rivals Hung Like a Bony.
Atletico Topo Chico made it to the Championship via the Playoffs last season. They took StillluvQPR’s place with a ten-point aggregate score. This season they find themselves on the other end of the playoff jeopardy. They escaped the bottom two, but they need to win the double-header to survive the drop.

Chicken and Bane San -v- Alleviate the Tedium
8th, League One -v- 3rd, League Two

It’s been a good season for the newcomers – high-scoring, currently sixth overall in the Best-ish competition, Third Round of the Cup, third place in their first league adventure, and closing out the season on a hot streak. They came agonisingly close to taking an automatic promotion place on the last game with the topscore of the week, but SkyPlayer got three points from their game against the League Champions and ATT finished in third.
Chicken and Bane San dropped into eighth on the final day after a cruel twist of fate left them bottom of the four contenders. They rounded out the season with a game against Uncle Monty, who were bidding for (and collected) the League One title. With other games also not going their way, C&BS dropped two and were left treading water. They’ve got two weeks left to come up with a winning score and hold on to their third tier status.

Two legs, best aggregate score wins the place.

Champions League Qualifiers

The Phenoms -v- Gloopy Yarbles
CG XI

Postseason Pools

Champion of Champions Pool

Gameweek 37 – Top two scores go through to the Final
Gameweek 38 – The Champion of Champions FINAL

Your Season Ten Champions are:
Goleta Hotspur, Housewives Favourite, Hung Like a Bony, Sporting Wicker Park, StilllluvQPR and Uncle Monty.

Reigning Champions Housewives Favourite return to defend their title, this season against much tougher odds. Two of six will go to the Final, only one can win.

The Runners-Up Trophy

Eight teams, two gameweeks, best total wins the runners-up prize.
As the BFFA Cup runners-up finished as League Champions, they will be involved in the Champion of Champions tournament instead of this, and the CHampions League runners-up finished third in the Premier League, so are appearing here anyway.

This season’s RUT sides are:
Alleviate the Tedium, Cullen the herd, De Bruyne Trousers, Gloopy Yarbles, Route 57 FC, SkyPlayerinFPL, Vanishing Spray and Whiskey De Bruyne

The Wooden Spoon Tournoi

Every season needs an outright loser, right? The teams finishing the season in 9th and 10th will play in a Wooden Spoon pool. The worst two scores in GW37 will play in a GW38 head-to-head where the loser gets the Last Place Trophy.

This season’s teams:
A.F.C. Chester, Alisson Wonderland, Barons, BattleVAR Galactico, Boss, Boudi’s Crew, FC Santa Barbara and Sham’s army
Worst two playoff in GW38

The 2024 Champions League

There will be sixteen teams entered into next season’s Champions League:
⚽︎ The top three from each League,
⚽︎ 2x postseason qualifiers (from the fourth-placed finishers),
⚽︎ The current Champions League Winners (Sporting Wicker Park),
⚽︎ The BFFA Cup Winners (StillluvQPR).

So far we have:
The seeded teams – Housewives Favourite, Hung Like a Bony, Uncle Monty and Goleta Hotspur.
These four teams will avoid each other in the first round by being drawn into separate groups.

Also in the draw will be:
Alleviate the Tedium, Cullen the herd, De Bruyne Trousers, Gloopy Yarbles, Route 57 FC, SkyPlayerInFPL, Sporting Wicker Park, StillluvQPR, Vanishing Spray FC and Whiskey De Bruyne.

The final two names will be decided by the Qualifiers kicking off this coming weekend –
Smash & Grab vs. All Star Gunners, and
The Phenoms vs. CG XI

The Best-ish Team of the Season

Finally, the Best-ish tournament will continue right until the end of Gameweek 38.
The team that finishes top of the leaderboard will win the prize money and have their names written down in history (by which we mean – on the Teams page here). Shiny.

The Belyea Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup, ‘Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms’, where everyone is a winner (except one).
The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

You get up to 38 gameweeks to remove yourself from consideration.
The last team to be eliminated… gets the Belyea Cup. 🏆
If there’s more than one team left after the final gameweek then they all, you know, jointly receive this unique award!

Boudi’s Crew are free! With the 18th-best score of the week is very good when there are only three teams left. Above-average was more than enough, and now only two remain.

Next week: The showdown.
BattleVAR Galactico and Harambe Hotspur
Loser is crowned Belyea Champion 2024. If it’s a tie, we go again in the final week.

The Big One

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150,000,000. These teams must have no more than three players from any PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season – two Wildcards, a Bench Boost, a Free Hit and Triple Captain points. This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

This week’s top scorers:
=1) Prestige Worldwide – 110 Fantasy Points
=1) Sporting Wicker Park – 110 Fantasy Points
Alleviate the Tedium – 109 FPts
Lingardium Weviosa – 105 FPts
De Bruyne Trousers – 99 FPts

On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. This week, as it’s a hugely decisive week for us, we have last season’s FPL Champion Manager – Ali Jahangirov – back this season with FPLGunz. After a few sub-average scores, Ali is unfortunately languishing down around #1.3m overall, which may be surprising given that he finished 215th the season before he came #1 overall.

We wish him well in the final two weeks, and hope you all do something crazy to close out the season in style.
