Team of the Week:
Gloopy Yarbles (4th time)
57 Points
Score of the Season:
Smash & Grab – 89 FPts (GW27)
Game of the Season:
Smash & Grab 89 – 68 Sporting Wicker Park (GW27)
Premier League
😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Topscore of the week – 57 for Gloopy Yarbles – gave them a very important win. Three points closer to R57 in third, now just two points behind.
• The only other team to clear 50 points – El Dude Bros – also closed the gap on the money places and in doing so condemned the Barons to relegation.
• Mighty fine feeling pulled out a big win on Jarrod Bowen’s return from international duty. His goal and assist earned no bonus points, but with Kudus’ identical performance beside him, MFF could escape the relegation playoff.
🫣 The One to Watch:
El Dude Bros -v- Smash & Grab – 4th -v- 1st
GW 4: 31 – 35 // GW 13: 50 – 47 // GW 22: 38 – 74
Championship
😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Hung Like a Bony triumph in the clash at the top, taking all twelve points from their matches with their closest rivals.
• GoFys are the other team to climb a place this weekend, and deny Allison Wonderland the opportunity to close the gap on eighth.
🫣 The One to Watch:
GoFYS FC -v- Cullen the herd – 5th -v- 3rd
GW 4: 32 – 42 // GW 13: 32 – 33 // GW 22: 46 – 38
League One
😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• A lot of movement in the League One table this weekend. De Bruyne Trousers return to the top for the first time since GW12; CG XI lose a place to Peltier.
• East Loop United look like they may be launching a late charge on the playoffs. Their 7-pt win over C&BS takes them to 5-in-a-row and are now the in-form team in the BFFA. But they face a tough couple of weeks with all of the top three queueing up to face them next.
🫣 The One to Watch:
CG XI -v- Uncle Monty – 5th -v- 2nd
GW 4: 41 – 50 // GW 13: 43 – 41 // GW 22: 48 – 52
League Two
😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• The top four all won, but Jaysokker slipped up against Shams army again and it cost them a place. For the Army, they move up one, but dreams of the playoffs are starting to fade.
• The Phenoms and Goleta both add another three points to their title bids and the clock ticks by for the rest of the league. The most eye-catching game this week however was their BFFA Cup Quarter-Final, which Goleta took by the narrowest of margins.
🫣 The One to Watch:
The Phenoms -v- SkyPlayerInFPL BFFA – 2nd -v- 4th
GW 4: 49 – 42 // GW 13: 49 – 49 // GW 22: 44 – 64

The Belyea Cup
Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup, ‘Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms’, where everyone is a winner (except one).
The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!
▲ You get up to 38 gameweeks to remove yourself from consideration. ▲
The last team to be eliminated… gets the Belyea Cup. ▼🏆▼
If there’s more than one team left after the final gameweek then they all, you know, jointly receive this unique award!
10-man Whiskey De Bruyne make it out of the Belyea with just three points to spare. Had Luis Diaz not stolen that equaliser against Brighton yesterday, it would have been The Phenoms stamping their time card, but WDB did plenty enough to get the result and cross their names off the list.
Week Thirty-One – only 8 teams remain:
A.F.C. Chester, BattleVAR Galactico, Boudi’s Crew, FC Santa Barbara, Harambe Hotspur, Jaysokker, Ole’s at the wheel, The Phenoms.
The Big One
It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150,000,000. These teams must have no more than three players from any PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).
Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season – two Wildcards, a Bench Boost, a Free Hit and Triple Captain points. This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.
This week’s top scorers:
Kinder Mbuemo – 78 Fantasy Points
All Star Gunners – 74 FPts
Gloopy Yarbles – 73 FPts
The Phenoms – 71 FPts
Prestige Worldwide – 67 FPts
On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. This week, Zeki Amdouni and Charlie Taylor. Last weekend, Taylor replaced Amdouni shortly after Palmer’s penalty broke the deadlock at Stamford Bridge. The pair are just eight points apart in the All Players Softness league, but not so well compared to our humble bunch. Charlie Taylor’s side (now called Change Name) are doing slightly better of the pair, while Amdouni’s catch me scored one point better. Both players backed themselves and collected one point each for sharing half a match appearance. Refreshing to see player-managers putting themselves in the team!
Postseason Preview
Over the next few gameweeks I will try to keep you updated here on how the postseason is shaping up and what to look out for. Here’s a brief overview of how the postseason will play out.
Postseason Tournaments
In the final two gameweeks, all forty teams will be involved in one of the postseason tournaments. Click on the drop-downs to see more detail about each:
⚽︎ Champion of Champions
⚽︎ The Champions of each league, the BFFA Cup winners and the Champions League winners will take part in a Champion-of-Champions tournament.
This season, as there is potentially five or six teams in the CoC, the top two scores will qualify for the GW38 Grand Final.
⚽︎ Runners-Up Trophy
⚽︎ The 4x Second-placed teams, the 4x Third-placed teams, the Champions League Runners-Up (Gloopy Yarbles) and the BFFA Cup Runners-Up will play in a Runners-Up pool. They will play to see who can get the best total out of the final two gameweeks.
⚽︎ Champions League Qualifiers
⚽︎ The 4x Fourth-placed teams will play-off for two Champions League places.
The teams will be seeded by their Fantasy Points total.
#1 will play #4 over two legs, and #2 faces #3.
If, however, either the Champions League winners (Sporting Wicker Park) or the BFFA Cup winners (TBD) finish in fourth place, then the topscoring fourth-placed team will automatically be entered into next season’s Champions League, and the other two will playoff (across GWs 37 & 38) for the remaining slot.
If something strange happens and both the CL winner AND the Cup winner both finish in fourth place, then both of the other two fourth-placed finishers will automatically go to the Champions League.
⚽︎ The Intramural League Qualifers
⚽︎ The teams in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th will play in IML Qualifiers.
One team from each League will play in next season’s Intramural League.
For the 2024 Intramural League, each league hosts a mini-qualifying tournament to put one team forward.
GW37: 5th v 8th and 6th v 7th
GW38: Winner v Winner.
If the CL/Cup winner(s) finish in 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th, then the highest-placed remaining team gets a bye to their division’s IML Qualifier Final.
⚽︎ The Wooden Spoon
⚽︎ The teams finishing the season in 9th and 10th will play in a Wooden Spoon pool. The worst two scores in GW37 will play in a GW38 head-to-head where the loser gets the Last Place Trophy.
Some teams will be involved in more than one competition (for example, the Playoff teams will also be involved in the RUT or IMLQ’s).
In the graphic above, if the tables remain as they are at the end of GW36, the teams in yellow would be involved in the Champion of Champions tournament. This will also include the BFFA Cup winners. The remaining four teams in the Cup have a ‘(c)’ beside their name. Sporting Wicker Park will also be involved as CL Winners.
The teams in grey (including the CL runners-up Gloopy Yarbles) will be entered into the Runners-Up Trophy, and the teams finishing in the green positions will start next season early with the IML Preliminary Rounds.
And finally, the teams finishing in the purple positions (3rd and 8th) will also have a playoff game to contend…
Playoffs
After the end of Gameweek 36, we will be able to confirm the final league positions of all 40 teams.
All the top three teams will be awarded a payout.
The top two teams (Champ., Lge 1 & Lge 2) will get promotion and the bottom two teams will be doomed to relegation.
We will then also have the fixtures for our three Play-offs:
⚽︎ 8th, Premier League -v- 3rd, Championship ⚽︎
⚽︎ 8th, Championship -v- 3rd, League One ⚽︎
⚽︎ 8th, League One -v- 3rd, League Two ⚽︎
Two legs, best aggregate score wins the place.
The 2024 Champions League
There will be sixteen teams entered into next season’s Champions League:
⚽︎ The top three from each League,
⚽︎ 2x postseason qualifiers (from the fourth-placed finishers),
⚽︎ The current Champions League Winners (Sporting Wicker Park),
⚽︎ The BFFA Cup Winners (one of the four remaining).
If the Champions League Winners (Sporting Wicker Park) and/or the BFFA Cup Winners finish in the top three in their league, then there will be an open place which will go to the highest-scoring team(s) that finish below a top three place (see the reserve list in the graphic above).
If the CL winners and/or the Cup winners finish in fourth place then the highest-scoring other fourth-placed team will get an automatic place in the 2024 Champions League.
If the Champions League winners also win the BFFA Cup (!) then there will definitely be at least one of the reserve teams in the CL next season.
The Best-ish Team of the Season
Finally, the Best-ish tournament will continue right until the end of Gameweek 38.
The team that finishes top of the leaderboard will win the prize money and have their names written down in history (by which we mean – on the Teams page here). Shiny.
