Team of the Week:
Smash & Grab (3rd time)
89 Points

Score of the Season:
Smash & Grab – 89 FPts (GW27)

Game of the Season:
Smash & Grab 89 – 68 Sporting Wicker Park (GW27)

Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
Smash & Grab’s 401st was also something spectacular. We said it would be the one to watch, and once again Smash & Grab blew us all away. Double-figures from no less than five players, five goals and fifteen bonus points, plus all the rest, gave Smash & Grab the top score of the season.
• Not only that but it was, by a long way, the highest-scoring game of the season (so far).

🫣 The One to Watch:
Housewives Favourite -v- Smash & Grab – 2nd -v- 1st
GW 1: 49 – 56 // GW 10: 51 – 38 // GW 19: 34 – 36
I know we’re focusing on another Smash & Grab game, but it’s hard to take your eyes off of them right now, isn’t it. This next one will be a very hotly-contested contest. It’s first v second, it’s the last time this pair meet (in the PL in the regular season) and the result will echo all the way down to GW36.
The first two meetings saw a win apiece for each, then the last meeting gave Smash a 2-point win (with Chris Wood stuck on Wives’ bench with 17) and, ultimately, the number one spot today. Will they be toppled again, or will they open up a five-point gap over Wives Fave?

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• That big green arrow is like a huge badge of honour for Cullen the herd who move up two places back to Third.
Hung Like a Bony (who just lost their claim to Score of the Season) got the top score of the Championship this week and won by 24. Vanishing Spray won by 27 and keep a firm grasp on the number one seat.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Vanishing Spray FC -v- Cullen the herd – 1st -v- 3rd
GW 1: 36 – 50 // GW 10: 41 – 56 // GW 19: 41 – 47
How could we not focus on the team at the top and the team that’s chasing them down? Both passed 50FPts this week, both looking good for promotion, both with a quality team going into next week. Expect big things.

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
East Loop United just about keep their 4-point gap over the relegation zone open, and fire a warning shot towards BattleVAR.
Uncle Monty and De Bruyne Trousers both get their sixth consecutive win. Only Smash & Grab have a win streak as good as them right now.

🫣 The One to Watch:
De Bruyne Trousers -v- Uncle Monty – 2nd -v- 1st
GW 1: 44 – 77 // GW 10: 36 – 45 // GW 19: 34 – 40
If you can pull your eyes away from the two highlighted games above, you can come here and you will not want to leave. It’s the top two, just one League point apart, and it’s crucial in the League One title race. On top of that, here are two of the three hottest teams at the moment – both on a six-game winning streak. Unless there’s a surpise draw, one team will go on to 7 wins.

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
The Phenoms make it three-in-a-row with a seven-point win over Shams army.
Goleta Hotspur hit a whopping 78, preventing SkyPlayer from reaching third place, yet again.
Alleviate the Tedium climb two places after a pretty close-run rematch with Boudi.

🫣 The One to Watch:
SkyPlayerInFPL BFFA -v- Alleviate the Tedium – 5th -v- 3rd
GW 1: 35 – 74 // GW 10: 51 – 38 // GW 19: 39 – 37
It’s close, oh so very close, around third place at the moment, and two of those teams in the mix for a Playoff spot (or more) are SkyPlayer and Alleviate. They have both taken points off the other, and last time they met, SkyPlayer won by just two (do you remeber Joao Pedro’s brace against Spurs?) Well this time it is set up for a very important game from which the winner stands a good chance of making an attempt on finishing in the top two.

The Belyea Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup, ‘Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms’, where everyone is a winner (except one).
The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

You get up to 38 gameweeks to remove yourself from consideration.
The last team to be eliminated… gets the Belyea Cup. 🏆
If there’s more than one team left after the final gameweek then they all, you know, jointly receive this unique award!

They’re top of the League and perhaps long-overdue a flight out of the Belyea Cup, but Vanishing Spray got their ticket this week via a win in their League match (although they were unlucky to be KO’d of the BFFA Cup) with an high score of 53 points. Mixed feelings there, no doubt.

Week Twenty-Eight: 11 teams remain –
A.F.C. Chester, BattleVAR Galactico, Boudi’s Crew, FC Santa Barbara, Harambe Hotspur, Jaysokker, Ole’s at the wheel, Route 57 FC, The Phenoms, Uncle Monty, Whiskey de Bruyne.

The Big One

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150,000,000. These teams must have no more than three players from any PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season – two Wildcards, a Bench Boost, a Free Hit and Triple Captain points. This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

This week’s top scorers:
BattleVAR Galactico – 93 FPts
De Bruyne Trousers – 87 FPts
Alleviate the Tedium – 86 FPts
DCL’s MRI – 85 FPts
Jaysokker – 85 FPts

On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. Last week, David Brooks. This week we return to The Cherries Cup with Marcus Tavernier’s TeamTav.

Over the next nine gameweeks I will keep you updated here about how the postseason is shaping up and what to look out for. Here’s a brief overview of how the postseason will play out.

Firstly, after the end of Gameweek 36, we will be able to confirm the final league positions of all the teams. All the top three teams will be awarded a payout.

The top two teams (Champ., Lge 1 & Lge 2) will get promotion and the bottom two teams will be doomed to relegation. We will then also have the fixtures for our three Play-offs:
⚽︎ 8th, Premier League -v- 3rd, Championship ⚽︎
⚽︎ 8th, Championship -v- 3rd, League One ⚽︎
⚽︎ 8th, League One -v- 3rd, League Two ⚽︎
Two legs, best aggregate score wins their place.

Secondly, all forty teams will be involved in one of the following post-season tournaments.
⚽︎ The Champions of each league, the BFFA Cup Winners and the Champions League Winners will take part in a Champion-of-Champions tournament.
⚽︎ The 4x Second-placed teams, the 4x Third-placed teams, the Champions League Runners-Up and the BFFA Cup Runners-Up will play in a ten-team Runners-Up pool. They will play to see who can get the best total out of the final two gameweeks.
⚽︎ The 4x Fourth-placed teams will play-off for two Champions League places.
⚽︎ The teams in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th will play in IML Qualifiers. One team from each League will play in next season’s Intramural League.
⚽︎ And the teams finishing the season in 9th and 10th will play in a Wooden Spoon pool. The worst two scores in GW37 will play in a GW38 head-to-head where the loser wins loses gets the wooden spoon.

Some teams will be involved in more than one competition (namely – the playoff teams and the Cup & the CL runners-up).

Thirdly, there will be sixteen teams qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

➣ The top three from each League,
➣ The Champions League Winners (Sporting Wicker Park),
➣ The BFFA Cup Winners (eight remain),
➣ 2x Champions League Qualifiers.

If the Champions League Winners (Sporting Wicker Park) and/or the BFFA Cup Winners finish in the top three in their league, the open place will go to the highest-scoring team(s) that finish below a top three place.
If the CL/Cup winners finish in fourth place then the highest-scoring fourth-placed team will get an automatic place in the 2024 Champions League.
Unless a CL/Cup winner finishes in fourth, then the 4x fourth-placed teams will be seeded by fantasy points total; #1 will play #4 over two legs and #2 faces #3.

For the 2024 Intramural League, each league hosts a mini-qualifying tournament to put one team forward.
GW37: 5th v 8th and 6th v 7th
GW38: Winner v Winner.
If the CL/Cup winner(s) finish in 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th, then the highest-placed remaining team gets a bye to their division’s IML qualifier final.

Finally, The Best-ish tournament will continue right until the end of Gameweek 38.
