70 Points

Score of the Season:
Hung Like a Bony – 87 FPts (GW7)

Game of the Season:

Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Title-chasers El Dude and Farkelife draw; still in the race.
• A John Stones bonus point earns a big victory for Smash & Grab, moves them up from 4th to 1st.
• Sporting Wicker Park fields three players hitting double-figures, leaving Wives Fave no chance this week.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Farkelife -v- Smash & Grab – 4th -v- 1st
GW 7: 28 – 50 // GW 16: 49 – 28
Two upwardly-mobile teams, in-form, scoring well, fighting for top spot. Should be a thriller.

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Fergi Time’s return to the big time was set back another week after matching AFC Chester’s effort. Either sub ‘keeper could’ve won the game, but both teams will rue the missed opportunity.
• Huge scores from Guimarães and Co. give Spray a huge win and makes it a three-horse race again.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Hung Like a Bony -v- A.F.C. Chester – 1st -v- 10th
GW 7: 87 – 18 // GW 16: 33 – 37
After the heavy defeat in GW7, Chester returned and retook their three points back. This weekend they come into the game on a good run of form, unbeaten in three and hitting above average scores in all of them. They face the new league leaders looking for satisfaction after a disappointing draw.

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Top three win, breakaway from the rest.
• C&BS climb a place as Peltier falter again; CG XI revel in Gabriel’s glory, win important league game and through to the next round of the Cup too.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Uncle Monty -v- Whiskey De Bruyne2nd -v- 1st
GW 7: 38 – 30 // GW 16: 44 – 21
One of two matches showcasing the two title favourites. Winner goes top. De Bruyne Trousers don’t get a look-in this week.

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Ødegaard makes 10 with 1 bonus point, Don’t Tripp on Silva win but that one point. League leaders agonisingly leave points on the bench.
• SkyPlayer claim fourth win in a row, steal fourth place from Harambe.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Goleta Hotspur -v- The Phenoms2nd -v- 1st
GW 7: 64 – 53 // GW 16: 38 – 22
After Jaysokker slipped up, Goleta move up to second and set up a clash at the top.

The Belyea Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup, ‘Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms’, where everyone is a winner (except one).
The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

You get up to 38 gameweeks to remove yourself from consideration.
The last team to be eliminated… gets the Belyea Cup. 🏆
If there’s more than one team left after the final gameweek then they all, you know, jointly receive this unique award!

Although 13th in the Best-ish standings, originals and all-time top pointscorers Sporting Wicker Park are somehow still in the Belyea. But no longer. A top score of 70 was the best of all this week and eliminates them from the competition. Well played.

Week Twenty-Five: 14 teams remain –
Barons, Route 57 FC, A.F.C. Chester, Fergi Time, Vanishing Spray FC, BattleVAR Galactico, FC Santa Barbara, Uncle Monty, Whiskey de Bruyne, Boudi’s Crew, Harambe Hotspur, Jaysokker, Ole’s at the wheel, The Phenoms.

The Big One

Rover Cowley FC, 2023/24

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150,000,000. These teams must have no more than three players from any PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season – two Wildcards, a Bench Boost, a Free Hit and Triple Captain points. This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

This week’s top scorers:
All Star Gunners – 85 FPts
Lingardium Weviosa – 84 FPts
Peltier – 83 FPts
Prestige Worldwide – 78 FPts
Gloopy Yarbles – 75 FPts

On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. This week – Leicester, Newcastle and England midfileder… Mr. Harvey Barnes, managing Unreal Madrid.
