Premier League
😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Once seventh in League Two, El Dude Bros have now reached #1 in the Premier League for the first time. Pervis Estupiñán’s clean sheet and two bonus points sealed the win for the PL rookies in the final match of the split week, moving them up two places to First.
• Sporting Wicker Park become the first team to pass 15,000 Fantasy Points in League matches! It was Darwin Núñez’s post-match bonus points that rolled Wicker Park over that line on the back of two goals against AFC Bournemouth.
• Housewives Favourite‘s 200th match is spoilt by Farkelife‘s refusal to give up on the league title.
• Farkelife and Boss both record big wins over top sides; unable to decide a winner in their R1 Cup match, drawing 60-60!
🫣 The One to Watch:
El Dude Bros -v- Smash & Grab – 1st -v- 4th
GW 4: 31 – 35 // GW 13: 50 – 47
First and fourth in the League, #3 & #2 in the All-Time World Rankings. These two will meet again in midweek as the closest matchup of the twenty games – less than 11 points apart, and 12 points on offer for the winner. For the League, it has ramifications for all the top six, separated by just four points. Bros could pull further away, or they could be pulled right back into the PL maelstrom.
Championship
😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Toney and Rashford propel City into first place.
• Hung, Fergi, ATC & GoFysFC all smash their opposition. Jota and KdB combine to help GoFYS win a six-pointer over ninth-placed Allison.
🫣 The One to Watch:
Webuiltthis City -v- Hung Like a Bony – 1st -v- 3rd
GW 4: 46 – 20 // GW 13: 38 – 27
Hard to overlook this one. The topscoring team in the Championship against the league leaders. Both climbed two places last week with 50+ scores and are feeling like promotion is a real possibility this year. A win for Hung could return them to the top. But recent history favours the City in the matchup.
League One
😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Zeki Amdouni and co. give BattleVAR an unexpected win over league leaders Peltier. BattleVAR now the only team of the forty to be riding on a 4-game win streak, and are one win away from the promotion places.
• It took KdB just five minutes to score on his return, and he followed that up with an assist and maximum bonus points. Who then more deserving of celebrating with a whiskey than Whiskey de Bruyne, who wisely started him in midfield alongside Diogo Jota. Did we mention that Jota returned with 19FPts? No? That was probably useful too. WdB back up to second.
🫣 The One to Watch:
Peltier -v- De Bruyne Trousers – 1st -v- 4th
GW 4: 56 – 42 // GW 13: 42 – 29
Best-ish #1’s Peltier now share that position with the Premier League’s Gloopy Yarbles. Expect both teams to come back from the FA Cup break with all guns blazing. But don’t expect DBT to shy away from the challenge. With Toney returning on fire and Werner joining from Leipzig, the team in fourth could be climbing up the league after this next encounter.
League Two
😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
• Sham’s army finally get a win out of Jaysokker, and it lifts them above DToS. The pair meet in the next gameweek.
• The Phenoms, unbeaten in the last three, capitalised on Jaysokker’s slip and pulled clear at the top. Now difficult to reach and also challenging for the Best-ish too.
🫣 The One to Watch:
Goleta Hotspur -v- Jaysokker – 3rd -v- 2nd
GW 4: 49 – 49 // GW 13: 33 – 24
One of the two games that were drawn in L2 in GW4, Goleta and Jaysokker are both still jostling for the automatic promotion spot. They will feel like that draw hindered them both, but there is still a long way to go. Jaysokker will continue to be hindered by the absence of Mitoma and Salah, whilst Goleta will be missing Son for another few weeks. However, Darwin has been scoring for Jaysokker and Morris has been finding the net for Goleta. Both come in after losses in GW21, looking to reclaim lost ground on The Phenoms.

The Belyea Cup
Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup, ‘Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms’, where everyone is a winner (except one).
The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!
▲ You get up to 38 gameweeks to remove yourself from consideration. ▲
The last team to be eliminated… gets the Belyea Cup. ▼🏆▼
If there’s more than one team left after the final gameweek then they all, you know, jointly receive this unique award!
With a magnificent 78 fantasy points, Gabriel & Martinelli & co. grab their coats and say goodbye to the circus. CG XI are clear.
Week Twenty-Two: 17 teams –
Barons, Housewives Favourite, Route 57 FC, Sporting Wicker Park, AFC Chester, Allison Wonderland, Fergi Time, Vanishing Spray FC, BattleVAR Galactico, FC Santa Barbara, Uncle Monty, Whiskey de Bruyne, Boudi’s Crew, Harambe Hotspur, Jaysokker, Ole’s at the wheel, The Phenoms.
The Big One
It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of £150,000,000.
These teams must have no more than three players from any PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).
Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season – two Wildcards, a Bench Boost, a Free Hit and Triple Captain points.
This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.
This week’s top scorers:
The Phenoms – 86 FPts
Alleviate the Tedium – 83 FPts
Smoky Bacon Athletic – 75 FPts
Kinder Mbeumo – 71 FPts
Peltier – 69 FPts
Prestige Worldwide – 69 FPts
On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. This week, we knock on the door of one of Middlesbrough’s favourite sons. Ladies and gents… Mr. Jonathan Woodgate.
Woodgate’s career is woven through the Riverside. He was there as a youth player when ‘Boro moved to the new stadium, the first stadium to be built in line with the Taylor Report’s recommendations on all-seater stadiums in the mid-90’s. From there he developed into a Premier League star with Leeds United, followed by spells at Newcastle and Real Madrid, scoring for Los Blancos against Rosenborg BK in the Champions League. After two unhappy seasons in Spain, Woodgate returned to Teeside; first on loan, then permanently in 2007.
He has also turned out for Spurs, winning the League Cup with them in 2008, and Stoke City as a Premier League centre-back before returning to the now-Championship Middlesbrough FC for another four seasons. But the story doesn’t end there. After his playing contract ran out, Woodgate turned his hand to managerial work. He completed his licences and was rewarded with the head coach job at his beloved ‘Boro in 2019. He also went on to manage AFC Bournemouth and was awarded Championship Manager of the Month whilst holding the reins at both clubs. He has now returned to Middlesbrough as an assistant manager working with former Manchester United player and caretaker manager Michael Carrick.
Woodgate has been enjoying FPL since 2012 (if not before) and had an impressive run last season, finishing in the top 75,000 overall. Not bad! That put him in the top 0.7%. This season he is managing llamas 11 in a few Middlesbrough player, ex-player and staff leagues which include Marcus Forss, Aynsley Pears (who also runs a team called Prestige Worldwide*) and ex-Premier League journeyman Ryan Bennett’s Backstreet Moyes (see kit above). Woodgate also competes in the BBC Radio fantasy league – Fantasy 606. Therein, you will also find next week’s celebrity – the voice and the face of the Fantasy Premier League. More on her next week!
* Pears’ Prestige Worldwide: not as good as ours! Currently on just 1130 fantasy points. Sorry Pearsy.
