Team of the Week:
Gloopy Yarbles (3rd time this season)
64 Points

Score of the Season:
Hung Like a Bony – 87 FPts (GW7)

Game of the Season:
Smash & Grab 70 – 61 Gloopy Yarbles (GW6)

Premier League

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
β€’ Gloopy Yarbles destroy the league leaders with the score of the week.
β€’ Farkelife defeat R57, pull level on points.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Gloopy Yarbles -v- Route 57 FC – 2nd -v- 5th
GW 3: 48 – 46 // GW 12: 53 – 48
Gloopy have won the last three meetings by five matchpoints or less. First place beckons for the home team, but expect a top-three shake-up if Route 57 launch a comeback next week.

Championship

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
β€’ Cullen the herd slip up against jinx team Hung LaB.
β€’ Substitutes Ferguson and Collins bring on a point each to turn a draw into a Spray win.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Hung Like a Bony -v- Vanishing Spray FC – 5th -v- 1st
GW 3: 56 – 23 // GW 12: 41 – 29
After winning both of their previous encounters, can Hung LaB take three points from the league leaders for the second week in a row?

League One

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
β€’ De Bruyne Trousers lose to the only team that outscored them this week.
β€’ Uncle Monty takes advantage of the two De Bruyners losses, leapfrogs up to second.

🫣 The One to Watch:
De Bruyne Trousers -v- CG XI – 3rd -v- 7th
GW 3: 38 – 35 // GW 12: 44 – 40
Agony for CG XI last time as Tsimikas was unable to get off the bench with 15 points going to waste. They’ve given us two very close meetings already in the first half of the season, and this promises another great matchup when we return.

League Two

😲 Eye-Catching Stuff:
β€’ Goleta wins the Hotspur derby.
β€’ Top two win to cling on to their places.
β€’ Olise and Eze score big for both Woy and Shams army.

🫣 The One to Watch:
Harambe Hotspur -v- The Phenoms – 4th -v- 1st
GW 3: 37 – 69 // GW 12: 42 – 41
A big clash at the top next week with Harambe three points below their opponents, The Phenoms hoping to put some distance between them and two teams between them also watching for the outcome of this game. Last time out Harambe had two subs come on for a combined 1 matchpoint; The Phenoms lost with 8 matchpoints unavailable on the bench. Ouch.

The Belyea Cup

Welcome back to The Belyea Memorial Cup, ‘Rewarding Excellence in Its Many Forms’, where everyone is a winner (except one).
The game is simple – if you get the best score of the remaining teams, you escape.
Each week at least one team gets out, sometimes more, because they are excellent!

β–² You get up to 38 gameweeks to remove yourself from consideration. β–²
β–ΌπŸ†β–Ό The last team to be eliminated… gets the Belyea Cup. β–ΌπŸ†β–Ό
If there’s more than one team left after the final gameweek then they all, you know, jointly receive this unique award!

Once again, we brush aside a few previous winners to find our highest-scoring remainers. This week’s escapees are…Farkelife with a superb 54 matchpoints.

In Week Twenty-One: 18 teams –
Barons, Housewives Favourite, Route 57 FC, Sporting Wicker Park, AFC Chester, Allison Wonderland, Fergi Time, Vanishing Spray FC, BattleVAR Galactico, CG XI, FC Santa Barbara, Uncle Monty, Whiskey de Bruyne, Boudi’s Crew, Harambe Hotspur, Jaysokker, Ole’s at the wheel, The Phenoms.

The Big One

All Star Gunners, 2023/24

It’s the BFFA Big One. The tried and tested (albeit inferior) traditional form of English Fantasy Football that requires each manager to build a team with a budget of Β£150,000,000.

These teams must have no more than three players from any PL club, excessive transfers are penalised by point deductions, and everyone gets a Haaland (if they want one).

Every team also gets to pick a Captain and there are bonus chips to play across the season – two Wildcards, a Bench Boost, a Free Hit and Triple Captain points.

This is a classic-style fantasy league, open to all BFFA managers past and present.

This week’s top scorers:
Kinder Mbeumo: 100 Fantasy points!
Prestige Worldwide: 100 FPts!
Smoky Bacon Athletic: 96 FPts
All Star Gunners: 93 FPts
Lingardium Weviosa: 93 FPts

On top of hosting a league for the BFFA faithful, we are also involving some unsuspecting stars of the game in our classic league. This week, we said we were going to go from one Patrick to another, via a brief pre-season overlap at Middlesbrough FC. Ladies and gents… Mr. Paddy McNair.

Unfortunately we find ourselves this week introducing another celebrity currently recovering from injury. McNair left the field just 35 minutes into last month’s game against Yorkshire rivals Leeds United away at Elland Road. He’s missed the last eight games over the busy Christmas period nursing a back sprain, but has been using his time wisely by managing his FPL team – Bclare.

He is currently mid-table in a league of 34 past and present Boro’ players. Next week, we will include one of McNair’s former managers, a player that was lucky enough to have had two spells at his favourite club before taking on various coaching roles for Boro. He was, like McNair, once Middlesbrough FC Player of the Year, so was a popular signing when he was offered the job as Head Coach in 2019. He won the Championship Manager of the Month award in December 2019, but was let go the following summer after a poor run of form. Following that he had a brief spell managing AFC Bournemouth, again winning a Championship Manager of the Month award, but soon returned to The Riverside as First Team coach. Find out next week who he is and how Llamas 11 are getting on this season!
