Last night Burnley became the first team from the Championship to find out that they will be featured in BFFA Season 10. With a 2-1 away win over fourth-placed Middlesbrough at the Riverside, thanks to a 66th-minute winner from Connor Roberts, Burnley are now 19 points clear of third-placed Luton Town and guaranteed an immediate promotion back to the top flight. Their last campaign saw them drop down on the final day with a 2-1 loss to Newcastle, cruelly followed by a 94th-minute goal for Jack Harrison that moved Leeds up into 17th.
Currently they are 11 points clear of Sheffield United in second and could potentially set a new Championship record if they win all of their remaining seven games. They are just one win shy of equalling their record for most league wins in a season and if they avoid defeat next week they will go to 20 unbeaten (although this would still be ten games less than the 30-game-unbeaten streak set by the Burnley leads of 1920-21).
The Season 10 Draft is rumoured to be Sunday, 6th August, the weekend before the 2023/24 Premier League kicks off. Arsenal, City and Burnley are the only teams at the moment guaranteed to be there. More will of course will be added in the weeks to come. Watch this space for news on the Draft.
