Premier League
The story of the week is the clash at the top of the Premier League between The Money Team and Bigger Than Brolin. BtB, who made the Champions League Quarter Finals this year, have now lost four games on the trot in the League and missed the opportunity to regain first place yesterday. The Money Team give themselves a four-point cushion and will prepare to face Smash & Grab, the top pointscoring side in the PL, this Saturday.
Smash & Grab move up to fifth place with a 10-pt win over Gene’s Unicorn Reserves who fall into last place after East Loop get a surprising draw against 4th-placed AC Reykjavik. The BayCobblers remain fourth but lose ground on Vanishing Spray who won to close the gap on Bigger Than Brolin and keep pace with the top.
Last year’s runaway Champions Bigo1 steal a 1-pt win from Europa League Finalists FC Santa Barbara and climb up a place at the expense of the Unicorns. Chucky Pad’s loss to The Spray means that they’re now just one point ahead of Bigo1 and the drop zone.
Championship
The Championship continues to thrill with another 100-pt game decided by just one point! GoFYS stay where they are in fourth place but that gutting loss means that Sporting Wicker Park fall one place thanks to Goleta’s win over Mighty Fine Feeling. Last year’s Champions League winners also slipped from second to third because the All Star Gunners beat SB Town Baggers in a game that totalled only 46. Banana Swans and PSV also won but remain fifth and sixth, tied on points with the mighty GoFYS.
League One
Tralfamadore began the gameweek with a four-point cushion but lost it in a 31-25 loss to Gloopy Yarbles. This opened the door for stillluyQPR and Branwellington FC to close the gap to one. The latter took the opportunity with a 1-pt win over AFC Chester (there’s been a few of those this week!) while the former went down 40-35 to Wijnaldum Leviosa. For their opponents this meant that they swapped eighth and ninth places but are now both level on points with seventh place and safety. Elsewhere, Yer Man won and moved up a place to fourth and DC LFC also won but remain five points adrift at the bottom.
League Two
In League Two we had another clash of the tabletoppers. In this match however, the second-placed team Route 57 usurped the leaders and rose to the dizzy heights of first place. With dollar signs in his eyes, Darren will take on third placed Tiger Tail next week. And the struggle continues. Tiger Tail are on a good run of form too after beating Hung Like A Bony in a battle for third. TT now have a six-point cushion in the money places. Elsewhere, fifth, sixth and seventh-placed Glentoran, Harambe and the Sugar Daddies also won but remain where they are, albeit another three points ahead of the teams below.
