Semi-Finals 2: Judgment Day

The Semi-Finals are over. There are just two teams left in each competition! We’ve had more high-scoring games, another record broken and another one-point win. Below are the results from last weekend. So from the 24 teams combined we are now down to just four, and one of them will be winning some money later this month!

The Europa League Final will be played this weekend in Gameweek 16.
The Champions League Final will be played the following weekend – Gameweek 17.

The Europa League

FC Santa Barbara showed the world that they’d be a contender in the Champions League next year by improving on last week’s score and walked into the Final with ease. Gene’s Unicorn Reserves had a much closer encounter with Chucky Pad Warriors but also came away with the win and a place in the Final.

The two Finalists have played each other twice already this season, winning one game each. They also met in the First Round of the BFFA Cup two years ago. After drawing 37-37, Santa Barbara won the replay comfortably, 41-28.

The Champions League
Whilst preparing this article after the first leg I was considering giving it the tagline of ‘The Zoo Supremacy’. However, after equalling the record for matchpoints last week, Tralfamadore sat back and took a well-earned rest. They coasted through on the success of the first leg, even though MFF came back fighting.
The Zoo’s claim to that record disappeared within a week because the All Star Gunners churned out a score of 82! (The tagline was briefly changed to ‘Pierre Aubameyang: The Guy Who Shafted Me’). Again, although their opponents posted an admirable score themselves, it wasn’t enough to overturn the aggregate lead and ASG reach their first Final.
Tralfamadore Zoo have of course been to a Final before but do it here again in their first CL campaign. Earlier on that road they met ASG twice, in GWs 6 & 9, beating them 44-39 and 59-57, With the Final three gameweeks away, can ASG keep up their current form?
