With six games still to play, the top three in the Championship can already celebrate qualifying for the 2023 Champions League. After a big defeat to the League leaders yesterday, fifth-placed All Star Gunners are now 20 points adrift of fourth with six games to go. The giant gulf between the top four and the rest of the league means that Housewives Favourite, The El Dude Brothers, and Gloopy Yarbles are now all guaranteed a top four place and, with Gloopy already returning as reigning Champions League winners, the top four will automatically be put into the First Round draw.
All Star Gunners will be disappointed by failing to keep up with the promotion race, but are still in the BFFA Cup and should they win that then they will also qualify for the 2023CL.
If they don’t win the Cup, then they could be in a postseason CL Qualifying match if they finish top of the Reserves Board, or, second in the Reserves Board will be enough too if the Cup winners finish in the top four. Sound simple enough? Win the Cup – go to the CL. Don’t win the Cup, it’s quite likely that they will be in a Qualifier. They just need to keep scoring well and we wish them luck.
Elsewhere, the Premier League is too close to call at the moment; in theory, Route 57 FC are still mathematically able to win the league from seventh place. A similar story is being written in League One, but in League Two there is a runaway leader on the brink of qualification – Real Bastardos/Monty are on the verge of qualifying too. They are guaranteed a top-four place now, however, fourth place in League Two will definitely be a CLQ spot so they haven’t guaranteed their place in the tournament just yet. Expect that to be confirmed in the next couple of weeks.
Watch this space. Enjoy the Semi-Finals and good luck next weekend!
