2021 CL – Quarter Finals, Second Leg

StarGoal CL Header

It was a good week for the four group winners.
Two leads were handed over, two retained. One matchup was decided by a single point.

The Game of the Week has to be the rematch between the Winter Cup winners StillluvQPR and the Premier League leaders The Money Team. Money took a small, two-point lead into the second leg but faltered away from home and Stillluv (just about) took advantage of a low-scoring gameweek. Their score of 29 was enough to see off the Premier League side by just one point on aggregate, and also SWP in the league too, lifting them up from eighth to fifth.

In the next round, StillluvQPR will be set up against The El Dude Brothers for the first time. Bros, who were bottom of Group A after the first three games then won three-in-a-row to win the group, had the QF sewn up with a 75 in the first leg. They took AFC for another win last weekend and coasted though to the Semi-Finals with a Nelson.

In the other half of the bracket, Webuiltthis City took a second win of the series with another 42, but Wives’ Fave took them right to the wire this time. In fact, if it wasn’t for Fornals’ heroics against Liverpool in the final game of the week then Housewives’ Favourite would’ve gone through to the Semis. As it is, goals from Fornals and Harvey Barnes helped to keep City’s nose in front and progress. Ahead of them would be the winner of the all-PL QF.

Unfortunately, yours truly isn’t privy to the details of the squads in our top flight, but whoever was fielded in the match between MFF and Gofys must’ve had a big impact because the tie swung from being seven points in GoFys’ favour to a seven-point aggregate win for Mighty Fine Feeling. The result, mirrored in the League this week also, lifted MFF up to first place.
They will go up against Web City when the EPL returns, reigniting an old rivalry between two teams that also joined the BFFA in the same year. The last time the two shared a league, MFF won all four games by thirteen FPts or more, however, the two times that they have played outside of the league, both games have been won by City. Time will tell who has the better fortune this year, with a place in the Final for the better (or luckier) side.
