Week Three: The heat is on…

Matchday 4

Group A
The Money Team Vs. Vanishing Spray F.C.
Money beat Vanishing Spray 40-30 in the Premier League earlier this season but The Spray returned fire with a big “home” win that puts them top of Group A. The pair are also playing the teams second and third in the Premier League this coming weekend so expect both teams to come out all guns blazing!
Branwellington F.C. Vs. Smash & Grab
When it comes down to gameday, all the pre-match fluff goes out the window and the victory is anybody’s to grab. Such it is with Branwellington – in the Championship relegation zone and averaging nearly 9 points per week less than Smash & Grab, they’d already won two games in Group A and were a mere three points from getting a clean sweep last weekend. They get a second shot at taking a win from Smash this weekend.

Group B
Mighty Fine Feeling
Vs. Boss
It’s always heart-breaking when you score 50+ and lose. It’s like aceing an exam only to be told you’re still not good enough. But when you’re top of the Premier League, one would imagine you can shrug it off and go again. I’ve no doubt that MFF will be doing just that, like a red-eyed cartoon bull, as they prepare for the return visit of the Best-ish leader.
All Star Gunners Vs. Bigger Than Brolin
ASG get off the mark with a hairline victory over BtB. With Boss winning 3-from-3 so far in the Group, whoever wins here this week will be in good standing to make the qualification into the Quarter-Finals.

Group C
Hung Like a Bony
Vs. Tralfamadore Zoo F.C.
Two seasons ago, when these two teams shared a League, Tralfamadore beat Hung LAB three times in four games, devastating the League as they went. This season they were brought back together in this mini-League format. Hung missed out by just three points last week; Serge Aurier’s red card proving very costly. This week they return stronger and in what is currently the closest Group of the four, a win could elevate Hung from bottom to top overnight.
AFC Chester F.C. Vs. F.C. Santa Barbara
Teams will often concentrate on either the Cup or the League and put less effort into the other (whether or not that leads to success in either is a different matter). Whilst excelling in the Championship, AFC Chester have had a stuttering start to the Champions League, earning only three points from three games. With a big 56 last weekend, Santa Barbara saw off a strong 48 and deservedly go top the Group at the halfway point.

Group D
K.H. Granitza Sting F.C.
Vs. Route 57 F.C.
With the highest-scoring game of the weekend (just overshadowing Boss v MFF) Route 57 got the win they needed to keep the Sting within reach and put a win beween them and third. Neither team look like falling into the Europa League dropdown position right now, but tied on six points – that yellow line will look a lot more terrifying after this weekend for the team that loses here.
Sporting Wicker Park Vs. Cabezazo Increíble
Increíble were the only team not to hit 50 in Group D this weekend but they are getting stronger as the tournament goes on. In such a tough Group it’s still difficult to pick a winner, but the team at the bottom look like they’re in need of a big week this weekend; they are also facing top-of-the-League Granitza Sting in a bid to climb out of the relegation zone too.

Gameweek 8
This weekend begins with sixth-placed Spurs away at struggling Brighton and finishes a day later after Newcastle host Manchester United. Aguero, de Bruyne and co. will face a Wolves side that drew with them last season and have drawn 4 of their 7 games already. Teemu Pukki’s Norwich face fellow newly-promoted side Aston Villa, whom they beat 2-1 in their Championship-winning season and Liverpool play Leicester, a team that Sadio Mané scored against in both games last season.
