Champions League Results
After a scintillating draw in the first leg, De Bruyne Trousers executed a Vengeance Most Fowl in the reverse fixture and stormed through to the Final with a 30-point lead (one point more than they beat Wives’ Fave by in last season’s QFs).
In the other Semi-Final, the Bestish #1 contenders, Gloopy Yarbles, had the tie wrapped up with a 62-point lead in the first leg, and “clung on” with a comparatively narrow 5-point victory in the return.
143 is by far the largest Semi-Final total in BFFA Champions League (or IML) history, and 88 was the highest Semi-Final score in any of the three majors (CL/IML/Cup). All Star Gunners were the previous holders of that particular claim to fame (2018 CL, SF 2nd Leg – 82 FPts, Aggregate: 120 FPts).
It was also the second-highest-ever score in the Champions League (after Mighty Fine Feeling‘s 91 FPts, 2021 CL First Round, GW9).

Gameweek 16: Saturday 14th December – Monday 16th December
De Bruyne Trousers -V- Gloopy Yarbles
This will be the third meeting between the two teams. De Bruyne Trousers reached the Semi-Finals in their first Champions League last season, losing out to Gloopy Yarbles in both legs (29-41 & 29-32). The defending Champions (Gloopy) then went on to lose in the Final against Sporting Wicker Park.
DBT did not have to wait long for a rematch. In Gameweek 24, the pair were drawn together in the BFFA Cup Second Round and the then League One challengers thrashed their Premier League opponents 58-36. Unfortunately, they were later knocked out themselves, in the Quarter-Finals by eventual winners StillluvQPR.
And so they cross paths once more, but this time in the main event! And, new to the BFFA this season, we have set some money aside for the Runners-Up of the Champions League ($50), the BFFA Cup ($50) and the Best-ish tournament ($30), so both teams here will leave with something for coming this far. Congratulations!

Goleta Hotspur -V- Route 57 FC
These two finalists have also played exactly three times before, but in less dramatic circumstances. In the doomed 2019/20 season, Goleta & R57 shared League One and shared the points too, R57 won two, Goleta won the other. Neither side lost much with the abandonment of the season, finishing sixth and seventh and the termination of the season.
Both teams fell into this season’s IML as third-place finishers in their Champions League groups, but won seven of the proceeding eight games to end up here (the only loss was a one-point defeat of R57 by Jaysokker, 26-25). There is a title and a prize to be fought for, even if it’s not the one they wanted at the start of the season!
Route 57 FC were, of course, winning here this time last year, in a 28-24 slapstick affair against BattleVAR Galáctico. They return as (unwilling) title defenders, but have set up strongly for a repeat victory. Both sides scored exactly the same number of points in the Group Stage (238 FPts) and found similar scores in the IML Quarter-Finals (Goleta: 60, R57: 65), but in the last two weeks the Premier League side have been significantly stronger, outscoring the League Two champions 119-81. The question now is – how strongly will they both line-up after the midweek round of games?
