Champions League – Matchday 3 Results

CL Purple Stars

Group A

A big 68 moves Sporting Wicker Park up into first position in Group A tonight; White, Trippier and Ødegaard collecting big bonuses for their weekend’s efforts. Mighty fine feeling brought themselves back into contention with a seven-point win thanks to two dozens from Colwill and Coufal at the back, helped along by the claret-and-blue contingent of Bowen, Diaby and Foster adding another twenty-six.

Group B

It is as-you-were in Group B with all four teams holding their positions. Advantage was gained by still-Championship leaders Fergi Time, another team doing well by employing Levi Colwill and Moussa Diaby, and they were seen home with a 10 coming from Carlton Morris.
In the other game, Barons came away the better of two bad performances; Miguel Almirón saving their blushes after Jota foolishly got himself sent off and Chester struggled to raise anything more than eyebrows from the spectators. Nick Pope’s third consecutive clean sheet proving to be the best that they could muster on a dismal weekend.

Group C

A similar situation in Group C saw the top two move further up and the bottom two further down. Smash & Grab maintain a commanding fantasy points total, but it is Housewives Favourite that hold the position with a third win in a row. If the results go the same way next weekend then we could see ATC all-but eliminated at the first round stage again.

Group D

De Bruyne Trousers keep their 100% record in the Champions League going against L1 title challengers Uncle Monty. Son’s goal against Liverpool and (2x) West Ham’s clean sheet against the struggling Blades weren’t enough to stand up to Morris and Saka, and now Monty’s CL hopes are beginning to look bleak.

The headlines of the week will all focus on the 87 put up by Hung Like a Bony who, not only set the bar for the rest of the season, but absolutely demolished both Bros (27FPts) and Chester (18) in the same week with margins of 60 & 69. The geniuses at Hung LaB decided to sign Almirón (10 FPts), Aguerd (6), Palmer (5) and Broja (benched, but 6FPts) off the free agency in the hours before kickoff, they put Jota on the bench pre-sending off and First Round pick Ollie Watkins excelled himself by bagging 23FPts. That almighty haul moves Hung upto second and, probably more importantly, will put the fear into their opponents for at least the next three weeks.
