Group A
Allison Wonderland takes the lead in the group thanks to the shotstopping efforts of Fulham, or more specifically, Bernd Leno. His ten points were the difference between winning and losing as both teams shared the joys and woes of Estupiñán, Neto and Alvarez.
Worse luck befell Mighty fine feeling who, despite having hits with VvD, Bowen, Fernandes and Mac Allister, was destroyed by the phenomenal scores from Trippier and Mitoma. Backed up by Pope, Dalot and Darwin, Sporting Wicker Park got off the mark and take second place.
Group B
Two teams are enjoying a six-point cushion in Group B, and it is the defending champions and last season’s runners-up. Fergi Time have taken control of the group with the top score in both weekends; Mitoma and Saka bringing home double-figure hauls for the Championship league leaders, and Botman and Salah doing the same for Gloopy Yarbles.
With the two winners playing each other next weekend, there could be a window of opportunity for Barons or A.F.C. Chester to close the gap on second and keep their Quarter-Final hopes alive. For the loser, it will take a heroic effort to come back from a third loss to earn their place.
Group C
The BFFA team of the week had players hitting 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 fantasy points and turned last week’s disappointment into a message of intent. Smash & Grab are set to play Whiskey de Bruyne over the next two weeks and if either can win both games, they should all-but dispose of the other out of the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Housewives Favourite will be looking for a third and fourth win in the Group Stage with back-to-back games against Atletico Topo Chico. Leti haven’t won in the CL this season, but they have outscored WIves Fave in both weeks. If they can do that again over the next two weeks then they should go up to second place, or possibly top.
Group D
De Bruyne Trousers are the fourth team to break the 100-point mark this week and go top of Group D. Another CL team celebrating the Kaoru Mitoma brace against Bournemouth, DBT prevented Hung Like a Bony from taking pole position and prepare for back-to-back games against League One rivals Uncle Monty. Les Pantalons suffered the agony of losing a league game this week with the second-best score – going down 67-62 to a resurgent StillluvQPR in the second-highest-scoring game of the season so far. But, that 62 keeps them top of League One as they go into CL Matchday 3 against the team in second, a team they beat 77-44 in GW1.
In the other head-to-head, Hung LaB and El Dude Bros will be scrapping over six points in Gameweeks 7 & 8. The two similarly-scoring CL sides have had similar records at this early stage in the season – El D.B. are 2-1-3 & 7th with 237 FPts; Hung are 3-0-3 & 6th with 243 FPts. Here is another game that really could go either way, twice.
