Today we have two more teams through to the Quarter-Finals and two more teams eliminated. AC Reykjavik join the holders to progress from Group A and Tralfamadore Zoo scrape a win past high-scoring ASG to secure top spot.
Like lazy schoolkids, Groups B and D have left everything to the last minute and Gene’s Unicorn Reserves will play the All Star Gunners in a do-or-die match for the second spot in Group C.

Next weekend:
Group A
Mighty Fine Feeling -v- AC Reykjavik BayCobblers
In Matchday 1: AC Reykjavik BayCobblers 40-52 Mighty Fine Feeling
In what might be the only meaningless game in the Champions League this week, MFF look to go into the Quarter-Finals with their 100% record intact. Reykjavik will want to prove that they have what it takes to beat the reigning champions before they take on the winner of Group B.

RelicFC -v- East Loop United FC
In Matchday 1: East Loop United FC 46-58 RelicFC
Although out of the Champions League, a place in the Europa League will be the reward for the winner of this match; the loser will go home with only one win to show for their campaign. Relic’s only win (so far) in this tournament was against United six weeks ago but it should be noted that they have lost to MFF and Rey.B.C. by only two and three points. United’s sole victory was against the Bay Cobblers in MD3, winning by 12 before losing by 9 to them the week after. A draw here will give RelicFC a shot at the Europa League.

Group B
Gloopy Yarbles -v- Bigo1
In Matchday 1: Bigo1 40-48 Gloopy Yarbles
After starting 2-0, Gloopy Yarbles have been winless in the last three, losing by progressively smaller margins (8, 6, then 4…). They should feel confident having beaten the titans Bigo1 before and having only scored three fewer matchpoints since the CL started. Bigo1 topscored in the Group for the second time last week, but are suffering from back-to-back losses in the League.

Bigger Than Brolin -v- Smash & Grab
In Matchday 1: Smash & Grab 61-46 Bigger Than Brolin
In the only League-rivals match-up this week, Group leaders Smash & Grab need only a draw to go through to the Quarter-Finals. Bigger Than Brolin must believe that a win will put them in the next round with their (slightly) superior matchpoint tally. The outcome will depend on the final score in the other Group B match.

Group C
Vanishing Spray FC -v- Tralfamadore Zoo FC
In Matchday 1: Tralfamadore Zoo FC 64-34 Vanishing Spray FC
It took five games, but Vanishing Spray are off the mark. It was too late to give them hope of a CL QF place, but if they can beat the League One leaders at home this weekend and outscore ASG by 13 then a Europa League spot could be offered to them. Peter Blake and the Zoo may sound like a children’s story, but it is quickly becoming a tale to rival that of AFC Wimbledon. Already guaranteed to finish top of the Group, they’ll want the history books to show that they marched into the next round unbeaten.

All Star Gunners -v- Gene’s Unicorn Reserves
In Matchday 1: Gene’s Unicorn Reserves 55-36 All Star Gunners
This has to be the tie of the Round – the winner goes through, the loser is knocked out!
After we watched Hotspurs lose with a score of 59 last week, ASG almost matched that feat and will be equally as disappointed, especially with three players hitting double-figures. The Gunners are the in-form team at the moment, outscoring GUR for the last three weeks, but before that the Unicorns had scored 72 in MD2 and put 55 up against ASG in MD1. The Tokyo Express Arena will be buzzing this weekend.

Group D
DC LFC -v- PSV Wide Open
In Matchday 1: PSV Wide Open 33-47 DC LFC
Last time these two met, DC romped home with a convincing win. Since then they’ve only recorded one win, against Chucky Pad here in the CL; they’ve drawn one and lost three in the League since that big away win. PSV have enjoyed better fortunes in the last few weeks, but peaked against Goleta before crashing back down again last week. Neither team managed 30 points on their previous outing. This could be a low-scoring affair, which will suit the away team, but they will want to outscore Goleta to avoid facing Tralfamadore Zoo next.

Chucky Pad Warriors -v- Goleta Hotspur
In Matchday 1: Goleta Hotspur 39-29 Chucky Pad Warriors
Goleta find themselves in a similar position to PSV after their win last week. Only a draw is needed to put them through to the next round. Chucky Pad will need to overturn a big difference in their matchpoints total, but it’s not impossible for them to make the top two.

Matchday 6 begins with five games kicking-off at 3pm, on the last day of British Summer Time, and ends with a six-pointer between Spurs and Man City on Monday night.
