Matchday 3 – Group Tables

Mighty Fine Feeling continue their title defence with another win at The Mosh Pit and East Loop also win to keep themselves in the mix.
Gloopy Yarbles lose but remain top of the tightest Group in the tournament. All four teams scored over 50 matchpoints, but Bigger Than Brolin score more than the rest.
Gene’s Unicorn Reserves perfectly matched Tralfamadore Zoo to keep both teams on top. Allegations of collusion have been thrown out.
PSV go top of Group D but all four teams are only a win apart and all will play each other once more.

Next weekend:
Group A
East Loop United FC -v- AC Reykjavik BayCobblers
Last week: AC Reykjavik BayCobblers 26-38 East Loop United FC
With both teams below the red line only on Matchpoints scored, this is a vital game in the race for a Quarter-Final place. The second-of-three consecutive fixtures between these two teams will hopefully bring in more points; last week was the lowest-scoring match of the CL so far.

RelicFC -v- Mighty Fine Feeling
Last week: Mighty Fine Feeling 62-41 RelicFC
Mighty Fine Feeling win their Championship/CL double-header and are now the only team still with a 100% record in this competition. Double-figures for van Aanholt and Berg Gudmundsson helped MFF to the top CL score of the week. Also 6-1 in the League, MFF are looking good to retain the title. RelicFC however have Eden Hazard also regularly scoring in the double digits.

Group B
Smash & Grab -v- Bigo1
Last week: Bigo1 56-53 Smash & Grab
In a close, high-scoring match, Bigo1 edge past S&G to move into a qualification spot in Group B. Smash, although the topscorers in the group, are now third and will fall into the Europa League if things stay as they are.

Bigger Than Brolin -v- Gloopy Yarbles
Last week: Gloopy Yarbles 51-59 Bigger Than Brolin
These Yarbles lose their first match of the tournament but keep hold of top spot at the halfway point in the round. BtB, top of the Premier League, are still fourth but are very much in the race in the tightest Group of the four.

Group C
Gene’s Unicorn Reserves -v- Tralfamadore Zoo FC
Last week: Tralfamadore Zoo 36-36 Gene’s Unicorn Reserves
We have a draw! There was nothing to separate the top two sides in Group C. The fixture is reversed this weekend and the winner (assuming there is one) will have a foot in the door to the next round.

All Star Gunners -v- Vanishing Spray FC
Last week: Vanishing Spray 45-47 All Star Gunners
The Gunners win away but the draw in the other game means that they’re still four points from the top two. Strangely, both sides had opposite outcomes in their Leagues with these scores. It’s a funny old game!

Group D
Goleta Hotspur -v- PSV Wide Open
Last week: PSV Wide Open 49-40 Goleta Hotspur
PSV make the long trip to Hollister Avenue this Friday on a 2-game winning streak. Goleta lost their first game of this campaign and will hope that King and Mitrovic can quickly reverse their fortunes.

Chucky Pad Warriors -v- DC LFC
Last week: DC LFC 38-41 Chucky Pad Warriors
Unfortunately, the win for the Warriors means that both teams are stuck on only 3 points, but the match this weekend at The Swamp could lift the winner up to second place. Both teams have only managed to collect two wins in the League so a win for either this weekend could be enough to spark some life back into their side.

Matchday 4 begins early – a Friday night kickoff between Brighton and West Ham – and ends with a six-pointer at Anfield.
