The 2018 BFFA Champions League

This year’s competition opens with Champions League Champions Mighty Fine Feeling taking on Championship Champions AC Reykjavik BayCobblers. This will be the first time that the two teams have met.
East Loop United FC and RelicFC both qualified for the tournament as Runner-Up in their respective leagues. So far this season though they’ve had quite opposite results. ELU have won three, lost one; Relic have won one and lost three.
In Group B, last season’s Best-Ish team Bigo1 begin the competition at home to the fifth-top pointscorers Gloopy Yarbles. Bigo1 won the Premier League last season by a country mile. The current top two in the Premier League – Smash & Grab and Bigger Than Brolin – have already met this season, in GW3. BTB walked away triumphant, 55-45.
Tralfamadore Zoo, who won stormed the League last season, winning League Two and the BFFA Cup, will kick off Group C against Vanishing Spray FC, who reached the Semi-Finals in 2016.
Gene’s Unicorn Reserves and the All Star Gunners finished third and fourth respectively in the Championship last year. Of the five League matches they played head-to-head in 2017/18, the Unicorns won the first two and the Gunners won the next three.
League One Champions PSV Wide Open will start their campaign at home against DC LFC. These two teams have never played before and this will be the first CL match for both teams.
Goleta Hotspur are also appearing in their first Champions League this season and have started the season on fire. Only Boss’ Blues have scored more than them so far this season. Hotspur round off the fixture list with a match against the only team in the group with CL experience – Chucky Pad Warriors – who won three and lost three in last year’s Champions League group stage.
It could be anyone’s title this year. Enjoy.
