** Champions League ** (brought to you by your faithful correspondent in the trenches, Jon Starmer)
— Quarter-Finals Set —
Eight teams through, eight teams out; eight teams in and you shake it all about.
Close games at the Swans Stadium, Leviosa Arena and Barkley Road Leisure Complex.
The Premiership’s two bottom teams make it through on the final day of the Group stage, hopefully avoiding a Koeman-style sacking in October.
Vanishing Spray may have had a carefree away win, hitting 50 for the first and only time in this years’ CL, but Mighty Fine Feeling clinched the spot. Last Season’s League Two Champions were narrowly beaten by their League opponents, but have already done enough to qualify. They face Group A winners Banana Swans in the next round.
Table-toppers Sporting Wicker Park were also beaten by League rivals in the highest-scoring game of the week. They win their group on points difference and will face Premiership team GoFYS FC.
KH Granitza Sting lost to the high-scoring Bigo1 and lost first place. They also face League rivals in the Quarter-Finals as the All-Star Gunners not only secure their place, but win the Group.
Smash & Grab also won their match, and the Group, and arranged a fixture against another team from the same League. The Money Team lost by 14 and qualify as runners-up in Group D.
The Quarter-Final first leg will be played next week and the second leg will be played in Gameweek 12, two weeks later.
Good luck all.
