EYE-CATCHING!
–PREM: The first gameweek of the new year resembled the old year to such precision that it was like there’s a continuum of time in which arbitrary date designations mean almost nothing, not least in noncalendar-year scenarios. The table remains the same, barring one change with East Loop regaining third place after defeating former bronze FC Santa Barbara. Bigo1 and Sporting Wicker Park both won, while FC Santa Barbara drops to fourth. Smash & Grab in sixth drew with SB Town Baggers in eighth, and The Money Team defeated Chucky Pad in the highest-point difference but joint lowest scores of their 43-30 barnburner. GoFYS pushed Bigo1 late into a 48-53 duel but the latter still retains his place atop Olympus.
-CHAMP: Of the top three, BayCobblers steamrolled over Goleta to stay in pole position, and Unicorns pranced its way to a 41-30 defeat of Cornballers but Brolin’s higher-scoring 57-54 close shave against Branwellington landed the team second on tight Best-ish difference. Conversely, Boss beat All Star in a 35-33 double bunt of an at-bat. Banana Swans won a fourth place six-pointer against Granitza Sting. BayCobblers leads the tier in Bestish, followed by All Star G’s in ninth. It has been mentioned before, but still, a bit peculiar.
–LEAGUE 1: Chester, PSV Wide O and Relic all won, keeping things brisk at the top of the table. Fourth and fifth lost ground, however, with Chester downing Wijnaldum 58-53 and Yer Man going for a more emphatic 55-41 over Mighty Fine. The most emphatic scoreline, however, was PSV’s 70-36 over Sexpats. There’s really just no legislating for how you’re going to counter an opponent’s 70…
–LEAGUE 2: In the week’s highly anticipated clash between one and two, Zoo knocked out two with a 62-48 uppercut, leaving DC d&c, dazed and confused. Yarbles’ 65-38 victory over Globes means the gap now narrows between second and third. Mourinho-LO nabbed fourth in the wake of both Globes and Route 57 tasting defeat. Tapped Up recorded a much needed victory over Gadagdome, who still managed to keep it within two points. Tapped maintains its spot just one point above the would-be drop, yet also stands just a victory from fourth. (The front three are quite a distance ahead, in GW3-era breaking news.)
Don’t forget to check out the Best-ish standings. It’s fun. And worth a cool $100.
