AFC Chester 62 – 48 Housewives Favourite
Chester see off Wives Fave in the Cup once again, this time by a more substantial margin than the 4-pt victory two years ago. They may be averaging nearly eight points per game less than their Premier League opponents, but they outclassed Haaland and a handy Brentford midfield duo to return to the Last 16.

All Star Gunners 43 – 27 Flubbing Yanks
The 2023 runners-up improve on last season, make it to their fourth Third Round. Unfortunately, the rookies couldn’t summon the 62 score from the last round, nor the 44 of the week after, although Dalot and Collins gave it a good go. ASG used three substitutes to hammer the nails in, but in the end they didn’t need the 13 points that they contributed.

Alleviate the Tedium 72 – 36 Peltier
Last week, ATT and Peltier met in League Two as first and second in League One. They proved their mettle by putting up the two biggest scores in GW22. Alleviate the Tedium won that battle by a substantial ten points, 62-52. Following that Peltier dropped to third, but returned to second place again this week with a win over Borussia Teeth. However, with only half the score of the league leaders, #1-ranked Peltier exit the Cup in the Second Round for the fourth consecutive season, while ATT find themselves in the Last 16 for the second time in two attempts.

Bigger than Brolin 28 – 32 Goleta Hotspur
For their first matchup since March 2018, this one was less of a spectacle than the fans article writers wanted. Both teams left their topscorers and gamechangers (both goalkeepers) on the bench. It took Noni Madueke’s third-minute (surprise) opener to swing the tie in favour of last year’s Semi-Finalists.

De Bruyne Trousers 42 – 51 IB Lausig – All-Championship matchup
A week ago IB Lausig pulled off a surprise comeback against the League leaders when Reece James’s assist in the final match (built on Justin Kluivert’s earlier hat-trick) topped DBT’s 64 by three matchpoints. After three Second Round exits on the trot, IB Lausig are at last back in the Last 16, this time thanks to Saliba’s 9 (supported by Kluivert’s 13).

El Dude Bros 49 – 72 BattleVAR Galático
2022 Champions El Dude have been shot down by BattleVAR in the Cup before, and last weekend it happened again. They didn’t have much chance against the topscoring team of the week, but they did put up a score that would have beaten 20 of the other 34 Second Round scores. Gutting.

Gloopy Yarbles 56 – 32 East Loop United
The Premier League’s #1 side returned to the #1 spot in the Best-ish ranks this week with a score 20-points greater than Peltier. They also outscored ELU by a huge margin (which wasn’t as bad as ELU’s loss to AFC Chester in the League this week), and Gloopy continue as the team nobody wants to face.

Jaysokker 26 – 29 AI-Jiggery-Pokery
Two weeks ago this one finished 33-41 with both sides hampered by injuries. That hindrance was still present last weekend when they met again, with a place in the Third Round at stake. Although both teams managed to field eleven payers, only a very few of them returned with any goodies. Gvardiol was the only player to score in this fixture, but found himself on the losing side as Gordon & Watkins created assists and Gabriel helped Arsenal-Jiggery-Pokery keep a clean sheet. Not a thriller here, but we have a winner.

mighty Fine 58 – 20 Smash & Grab
The third-placed PL side make it four wins from four games against the 2019 Cup Champions, and it was a walkover this time. 38FPts is the biggest winning margin in the 26 times this fixture has played out. After the FA Cup Fourth Round, we will see mighty Fine’s seventh Third Round appearance (a firm improvement on being KO’d in R1 last season!)

Partey Time FC 37 – 52 Boudi’s Crew
Three meetings, three wins for Boudi’s Crew over their League Two rivals. Despite this, Partey Time still climbed two places in the World Rankings, three places above the league leaders, but it is The Crew that will be in the Draw the weekend after next.

Preliminary Version 32 – 37 SkyPlayerinFPL
SkyPlayer get their first BFFA Cup win with a five-point victory over higher league opponents. The ten men of SkyPlayer (who were unable to replace Diogo Jota this week) bettered Haaland (12FPts) & co., thanks largely to Jarrad Branthwaite coming on with 8FPts to replace Sven Botman (also unused this week). SkyPlayer’s back four generated 24 matchpoints with three defensive clean sheets, one of which was earned by Diogo Dalot’s 90mins away at Fulham. Prelim also had Dalot (7FPts) this week, but unhappily left him on the bench.

Route 57 FC 52 – 34 Barons FC
Last season, Route 57 won all four matches against Barons. That streak continues with a knockout in the Second Round of the Cup. It was a mixed weekend for the Premier League side, however, as despite their good score, they had to face Gloopy Yarbles who reached 56.

Shams army 33 – 27 Sporting KhilMaan
These two League Two teams were neck-and-neck on matchpoints a couple of weeks ago, there wasn’t a lot between them on Cup weekend. In fact, there wasn’t a lot on the table at all. In fairness, Sporting KhilMaan did only have ten players and Shams army did score two goals (or three if you include substitute Ndiaye), but in the end, Shams Army were too strong for Sporting KM.

Slots Fired 44 – 36 Whiskey De Bruyne
Slots Fired have got themselves into the Third Round for just the second time in seven attempts. Calafiori (7FPts) and Chalobah (1) came off the bench to replace Maddison and Evanilson after the final game finished at Craven Cottage. 10-man Whiskey De Bruyne, who already had Chalobah in the back line, were hoping that Gakpo’s brace might have carried them through, but Haaland and Gvardiol put that dream to bed two hours later. It will be Slots Fired’s second appearance in the Third Round. They are yet to make it to the Quarters.

Tino’s Legacy 57 – 56 The Phenoms
Perhaps the game of the week, newcomers Tino’s Legacy won this 100-pt thriller by just one matchpoint. Gakpo + Semenyo (Phenoms) matched Haaland + Kluivert, and neither team used potential game-winning substitutes. The match eventually came down to bonus points. Both teams had players finish joint-second best – Madueke (Tino’s) & Ederson both got 2 bonus points; Pedro Porro (Phenoms) & El Khannouss also both got 2 bonus points. The tightest of margins. Had Ederson and/or Pedro Porro chalked up another attribute, we’d be looking at a very different result. Unfortunately for The League One promotion-chasers, Richarlison’s opening goal didn’t earn him any bonus points either.

Vanishing Spray FC 46 – 50 Atletico Topo Chico
ATC finally have a victory over Spray, and it may not have won them three points, but it did book them a place in the Third Round draw. Vanishing Spray may feel a little disappointed not to go through with outstanding performances from Martinez (15FPts) and Schade (11), but ATC were a much more well-rounded side with five players scoring six plus, and significantly more minutes on the field.

The Third Round Draw

The draw for the next round, which will set the fixtures for the rest of the tournament, will take place on Sunday 9th February.

The next round of fixtures will kick off on Friday 14th February. Lovely.
