All Star Gunners have had a heck of a week, they lost 33-32 in both the League and the Cup this Gameweek. Their lucky opponents, AI-Jiggery-Pokery, have made it to the Semi-Finals with a smooth Branthwaite-for-Asensio 2-point substitution. In the next round they will be facing another team who have won four-in-a-row.

Atletico Topo Chico were KO’d in last season’s Quarter-Finals with a score of 39. This year, by going one point better, they’ve reached their first Semi-Finals. Marc Cucurella’s second consecutive Player-of-the-Week performance rocketed ATC to the Final Four and two games away from glory.

The top-scoring team topscored again. Boudi’s Crew surpassed the field by a clear 17 matchpoints and effortlessly booked themselves into the Semi’s. They are the second League Two team in the fifth round, setting up a potential L2-derby for the Final. But first, they need to get past the 2023 champions and current World #2 mighty Fine.

With a tasty free kick on the stroke of half-time, Bruno Fernandes took away Saliba’s clean sheet, and gained a goal + 2BP. Nine points was the top score of the match, one better than Raul Jimenez, and earned mighty Fine a second Cup SF in three years. Their last one, of course, went very well.

So the jinx of the Quarter-Finals continues to dog League One. Another third-tier side were overpowered by the elite, and a second also caved to higher-league opposition. So that means there are four teams from three leagues, and this season – two of the semi-finalists are representing League Two!

AI-Jiggery-Pokery -v- Atletico Topo Chico
This matchup guarantees that there will be one team that goes all the way from the first round to the last. In their Quarter-Finals, both teams featured Gabriel Magalhães and he will likely feature again in the Semis. AI-JP could partner him up with Saliba, White and Nwaneri for their trip to Goodison Park; while ATC have Strand Larsen and Solanke back from injury in time for games against relegation-bound opponents.

Boudi’s Crew -v- mighty Fine
There’s a feeling of the old masters against the young guns here. The heavily-decorated mighty Fine, now second in the World Rankings again, are facing the powerful up-and-comers who have climbed a mighty 48 places in those same rankings in this season alone, from 93rd to 45th. If we were looking at those alone, this match would look like Scotland v France, albeit with the Scots on a good run of form.

But the imposing threat of a team so used to winning may not be as terrifying to a team fourth in this season’s Best-ish rankings. They are not the amateur side that they were last season, Boudi’s Crew are going places – it may be further up the rankings, it may be a promotion to League One, it may be to a Cup Final…
