Two of the remaining eight have been to the Final before. All Star Gunners were runners-up in 2023, losing 43-23 in that Final to Mighty Fine Feeling. And yes, they are on opposite sides of the bracket again this season.

AI-Jiggery-Pokery are in their first BFFA Cup, now unbeaten in three having come through the First Round. ATC (who also won in R1) and Route 57 have been to this stage before but no further. Alleviate, SkyPlayer and Boudi’s Crew have all improved on their rookie voyages of last season (KO’d in R3, R2 & R1 respectively).

We have a nice balance in the fourth round with two teams from each league, and a good spread across the Best-ish rankings too. All four Quarter-Finals this season will be first meetings, and they all carry the potential to set-up more league-rival pairings in the final two rounds, that is to say – the two PL sides could meet in the Semis, as could the two Championship teams. From the other side, there’s a 1-in-4 chance that we could have an all-L1 or an all-L2 BFFA Cup Final in May.

The Quarter-Finals is where it generally gets harder for the lower-league sides. In the first three rounds, it is fairly even in games between teams from different divisions (lower-division teams have won 132 of 268 games against higher-league opponents, practically half). However, in previous BFFA Cup QF’s, the higher-league teams have won roughly two-thirds of matchups (16 of 25), and 60% of all inter-divisional QF/SF/Finals.

Also, it’s time to start mentioning that only two teams (in ten Cup tournaments) have won the title after appearing in the First Round – SB Town United Athletic Onion Baggers (2016) and StillluvQPR (2024), so keep an eye on AIJP and ATC this weekend.

AI-Jiggery-Pokery -v- All Star Gunners
In 2023, ASG won their first Quarter-Final 72-69, against The El Dude Bros. They went on to be Runners-Up that year. ASG’s second BFFA Cup QF will be this weekend against newcomers AI-Jiggery-Pokery. AI-JP have already knocked out one of the Originals (GoFys in Round One), the 2022 runners-up Jaysokker, and the team that ASG KO’d in the ’23 Semis – AFC Chester. They certainly have the capability to take on a top-ten team.

Alleviate the Tedium -v- Atletico Topo Chico
(To Alleviate’s dismay) both teams take to the field in this Quarter-Final as the second-placed teams in their leagues. ATT were top of League One for the last six weeks before letting it go last week. ATC haven’t yet reached the top of the Championship yet this season, largely due to DBT’s dominance of the second tier, but they are just a point below the league leaders this week.

Boudi’s Crew -v- Route 57 FC
They drafted at the same table in Season 10, both picking from #3 in their respective leagues. Boudi’s Crew finished bottom of the ladder and “earned” the wooden spoon, Route 57 finished 38 places above them as runners-up in the Premeir League.

This season however, they’re experiencing rather different fortunes. It is Boudi’s Crew who are riding high in the league, while Route 57 are doing whatever they can to keep relegation at bay. What’s more, R57 haven’t outscored their opponents in 2025. It was Gameweek 18 when the former World #1’s last bettered Boudi’s Crew on points. That said… last week there was only the one point difference between them.

SkyPlayerInFPL -v- mighty Fine
No League One team has ever beaten a Premier League side in the BFFA Cup Quarter-Finals (0 for 4), so being nine places better in the rankings, SkyPlayer look like they could be the first to do that here. Both avoided the First Round so have won two cup games in this tourney. Of those two wins, both have owned one game with a 50+ score, and scraped through the other with just 30-something. The pass to the Semis will probably be given to whichever team shows up. Of course, if they both bring their big guns, then it’s going to be a fascinating shootout!
