Before the Second Round Draw takes place, there was the small matter of getting one more name into the hat. In a fixture that couldn’t be decided last week this game was very close again, but we do have a winner.
The matchup went right down to the final final whistle of the weekend with Goleta Hotspur fielding two Spurs defenders in Rose and Trippier. Llorente’s own goal put pay to both their clean sheets just seventeen minutes into the game at Craven Cottage and Danny Rose had a shot blocked in the second half. Very late goals from Josh King and Ayoze Perez brought the Championship team close, but Cornballers did enough to see them through to the Second Round.
Final Score: Cornballers FC 42 – 38 Goleta Hotspur
The Second Round will kick-off Saturday 2nd February as Newcastle travel to Wembley to face Spurs.
