2018 Cup Final

After four months of fist-pumping and fist-thumping, these two table-topping titans finally got to tough it out in the greatest arena of them all – a spreadsheet with a background of Wembley Stadium – the home of fantasy football!

It played out across three days. Saturday began with a goalless draw at Anfield; clean sheet points for Bigo1, but nothing special coming from Mr Salah. Tralfamadore returned with clean sheet points for Pope & Keane and later on with a Hazard assist and a big haul for Kante, appropriately collecting 5 Kante points. The Zoo finished the day seven points up but more clean sheets for Hennessey and Dunk helped to load Bigo’s bench up to 19 available points.

Sunday was all about Man. United at home to a half-strength Arsenal. Özil was left out of the side and so, unknowingly, missed out on the Cup Final. (He’ll still get a medal if he comes to collect it!) Unlike Özil, Pogba turned up and banged one in early on in the first half, good points for Tralfamadore. Early in the second half, Mkhitaryan equalised and took points from both sides. Otamendi added three for Bigo but it was Pogba’s goal that made the difference. Tralfamadore led by 14, but Bigo still had that 19 threatening from the bench; both had two players to come.

The final game of the weekend brought on Trippier and Alli for Bigo1, Tralfamadore Zoo had Kane up front with Trippier lurking in reserve. Serge Aurier, expecting to start, merely sat on the bench at Wembley and watched on. Alli drew first blood, pulling some points back for Bigo. Then things got interesting. Shortly after the restart Son crossed the ball to Kane who slipped over. The ball continued to Trippier who crossed it back in and Kane was happy to accept the second chance. A goal for the Zoo, but an assist for Bigo which was soon accompanied by another clean sheet and a couple of Kante Points too. However, like any good Cup Final there were some late twists. Without Aurier and Özil, Trippier and Jordan Ayew stepped up for the Zoo and they stormed the final day, pulling away to win 64 – 49.

Congrats to both teams for getting here. Party poppers and bubbly for Mr Blake!

Now the focus returns to the climax of the League. Good luck to all for the rest of the season!
